McGrady to miss the next 3 weeks

After meeting with Dr. Andrews, it has been determined that Tracy McGrady needs to rest 3 weeks to get his knee fully healed.  Originally they told him he needed 6-8 months after the surgery to heal.  He came back right around the 6 month mark.  Looks like he was back about a month or so too early.

The good news is that they don't believe he will need surgery again.

So

when the doctors initially said that his injury was something he had to “play through”, they were wrong and McGrady was right all along? Huh.

No Problem...

I say let him recover until the All-Star break, we need him for the playoffs…

I was surprised that McGrady came back as quickly as he did. When I saw his lack of mobility and explosiveness I realized he was back too soon. In my opinion he was trying too hard to shake the “always hurt” and “quitter” tags by toughing it out when he wasn’t ready.

I hope three weeks will be enough. On the bright side, now the offense can start running plays for Artest, instead of the sort of random 3 point heave with time running out we’ve seen too often. I still think the offense will start to get sorted soon, as it spent much of last season looking much like it does now – fractured.

I’ve only seen two games where I thought Houston looked good on both ends, and maybe three total where I thought the offense was synced for 3/4 of a game. It shows the absolute top level talent of this team that they’ve won 11 games while not getting an “A” for any outing yet.

Given a bit of luck, or a slightly less sadistic schedule, Houston could easily be 14-4.

I’m very happy to hear that McGrady will be resting. He was clearly struggling on the basketball court, and I was fearful of an increased risk of either a setback or long term damage to his recovery.

I’m very happy with this news
