Recap (sort of): Hornets 88 - Rockets 79
I missed this one tonight - it's still the break, so it happens. Didn't remember to TiVo it either, but from the looks of the stat line, maybe I'm better off having missed it after all. Here's the stats:

From the looks of things, it's quite obvious that a few things went wrong:
- Tracy McGrady didn't show up.
- The real Rafer Alston showed up.
- Our combined number of assists was 13, the first game in which we hadn't combined for at least 20 assists since the Memphis loss. Since that time, we had put up 100 points in 5 of our 8 games.
- Shane Battier still hasn't found his stroke.
- While Yao Ming had some good numbers, he once again struggled from the field, shooting 6 for 13.
- We let New Orleans's only two offensive threats in the game lead the game in scoring. Ron Artest would've been the perfect person to guard David West.
- They out-rebounded us 47-39.
- Not sure if we can blame this one on fouls - they had 23 to our 22. However, not having seen the game, maybe a few key calls didn't go our way.
- We once again had a poor showing in the fourth quarter, and according to the AP recap:
The Rockets were only 2-of-14 shooting in the fourth quarter and did not hit a field goal in the last 8:47 of the game, stayed within striking distance only because they hit 11 of 13 free throws in the period.
That's just some statistical observations. If you watched the game, please leave a few comments on what you thought went wrong for us tonight and what you think we need to work on for the Utah game tomorrow night. I'll be watching that one for sure.

You Can Put This Loss Squarely on Adelman
Seeing how T-Mac and Battier have been playing so sluggishly, why is Rick stubborn enough to ride out his starters in the 1st game of a back to back!?
Look at the +/- for today’s game.

Our bench all had positive number except for Landry who was barely under 0. Even without Artest we were still arguably better than the Hornets’ bench but Adelman wouldn’t use it.
How the hell does Adelman let Rafer back into the game when he was shooting terribly, when AB wasn’t playing badly at all and threatened their defense every play because of his speed? Why is T-Mac playing so many minutes on a hobbled knee? And is Luther Head that much better than Von Wafer where Head gets to play 12 minutes and Wafer gets a big ole DNP-CD?
T-Mac is probably going to get killed on the forums, but Adelman put him in that position.
And he's right
I think we were 75-71 down and the lineup was Yao/Landry/Shane/TMac/Brooks. We still had a shot. Enter Rafer/Scola for Brooks/Landry. Crap.
My immediate thought was “WTF is Adelman doing? We’ll lose this one”.
Keeping that first lineup for the entire 4th qtr or with Barry instead of McGrady would have given us a better chance to win this game.
“I just wanted them (the starters) on the court in the last six minutes,” Adelman said. “We had a pretty good situation (the Rockets were within four when he returned his starters to the floor). If we let them open it up to 10, 11 points, we would have no shot. I wanted to let them finish the game. I just felt I wanted to put in the starters and see how they would finish the game.”
He saw them miss their final nine shots. Brooks and Landry had the Rockets’ only field goals in the fourth quarter.

rockets looked lethargic
tmac looked like he had the flu or something. Just ugly game overall, they really need to step it up tonight or face losing three in a row.
