I like most of what I am seeing so far this season.
I know it's only 3 games into the season but...
... I am encouraged by the team's play so far. I know they aren't perfect or anything but considering all that they have lost, I think Houston is doing better than expected so far... especially starting with the 4th Quarter in Game #1 Vs Portland all the way through the Warriors game & then through last night's game VS the Blazers again.
One thing I'm hoping for is that Houston will continue to play hard & develop positively. I've been thinking that if by chance the Rockets could somehow win about 3 out of every 4 games VS the poor teams they face & also win about 2 out of every 3 games VS the good teams they face, & win about half of the games they play VS the great teams they face, not only would they probably make the playoffs but they would send a strong statement to the big name free agents of next year that this team's only a couple of superstars away from winning multiple titles.
Of course, the return of a healthy Yao would take care of one of the "superstars" & the cap money freed up after McGrady's contract expires would be available to lure a guy like Wade or LeBron to Houston.
Right now, the speculation is that LeBron either stays with the Cavs or goes to the Nets and D-Wade either stays in Miami or goes to the Bulls. But if Houston shows they can be a good (or at least a decent) team without their superstars for this whole season, just how attractive would the Rockets look to these great players, especially if it also looks like Yao would also be back & in better health next year?
I know it is still very early but right now things are looking positive to me. They still have work to do (of course) but so far, so good...
No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

I know the likelihood of it happening is slim…
… but hey, a fan can dream.
I did mention the fact that those guys were probably gonna resign with their own teams or maybe go to new teams near their hometowns.
Just wishful thinking…

It is wishful thinking but i think its a possibility.
If the team plays well this season with mostly role players it could draw a star’s attention. With Yao coming back, signing a superstar free agent would vault the team to the top of the West. We have McGrady’s expiring contract so we will have cap space. Just think about this for a second: Yao and LeBron on the same team. Not only is that great talent wise, but think of the promotional opportunities. Yao is the most popular player in the most populous country, and Bron is one of the most, if not the most, popular player in the rest of the world. Not saying its going to happen, but I think LeBron should seriously consider it if we play well this season and can pay him what he wants.
thats actually......
been thought of, i forgot where i read it, but it made me sick to my stomach. the reading was about what you pretty much pointed out, but it all taking place in cleveland when they thought that the cavs would try and bring in yao. sorry i cant remember where i saw this, btu i wish i hadnt. lol
"Waiting for the return of the Mac"
"Let VY loose, give him the chance to play his heart out. for himself, for the titans...and for mcnair"
"Titans & Texans fan, dont bug me w/your petty b.s., life's confusing enough."
no way
You can cancel any plans to get a LeBron or DWade Rockets jersey. That is just not going to happen. I don’t care if Yao comes back 100% healthy and with a 50 inch vertical jump on top of it.
LeBron isn’t going to a place that’s not a top 3 media market (other than his hometown Cavs).
D-Wade has no connection to Houston and would probably sign with Chicago if he leaves Miami (being a Marquette person and all).
You can also forget about re-signing McGrady… or luring most any of the big name free agents. I just don’t think it will be Morey’s style to have TWO max players on the salary cap. Look for them to sign two under-the-radar type players with the cap space we get this summer.
I disagree…
… I think that if LeBron said he wanted to play for Houston along side of Yao, I think Morey would gladly sign him. I am sure the Rockets owner would insist on it, too. Why in the world would anyone in their right minds say no to that? Can you imagine how p*ssed off Rockets fans would be if they knew LeBron wanted to play here and the management said no? I know I wouldn’t be too happy about it.
Anyways, like I said before, I DO believe that Houston is a longshot to get either of those guys… for the reasons I have already listed earlier. All I meant was I think that this Rockets team is poised to be an excellent team. All they seem to be lacking is 2 star players. Yao will be one when he finally returns (assuming he is healthy again) but they need to get another. Very rarely does a team win the title with only 1 star player. Usually it takes at least 2 stars or even 3 stars to win the title.
I just think that (to me) Houston already has a nice bench, good overall depth, and the proper role players right now in place. We just need those 2 “go-to” guys championship teams always seem to have.
(Remember Hakeem & Clyde?)
I do agree T-Mac’s chances of returning are slim-to-none…

sure
You make exceptions for LeBron. But I’m also not going to waste time thinking about it, because there is a better chance that Brad Lidge is allowed a re-do of last night’s 9th inning before LeBron ever considers playing for Houston.
Agreed, but they do need to fill that “2nd superstar” role.
I can’t help but scratch my head about it, though. If a superstar player looks at the Rockets roster and sees how solid it is AND how they’d get to play with one of the best centers (when healthy) in the NBA, I can’t understand why a guy like LeBron would want to play for the Nets instead, where he won’t have any other superstar on the team besides himself. Yeah, I know… it’s near “home”. But still…
I can understand Wade wanting to go to the Bulls and play with Derrick Rose, though.
Joe Johnson? I don’t know if I would consider him a giant leap above a healthy McGrady. I think for it to work out the team needs to get someone who is on Yao’s level as a player and I don’t consider Johnson to be nearly as good a player as Yao is. (IMO)
If Johnson’s the best they can get then they’ll need to get a great 3rd option, too. (JMO)

I've been satisfied too...
I know that down the stretch points may be hard to come by and that we may go through scoring draughts. I also figure with the increased tempo will come some careless turnovers that we haven’t seen in the past. But, through the first two games I did not like a lot of the passing that was going on. It seems like everyone made their fair share of really crappy passes in traffic when they were trying to do too much. I imagine there will be less and less of that as the seaon progresses and each player discovers their respective roles on this team. I just hope it is figured out a little sooner than later because those mistakes are certainly gonna make life difficult for the Rockets when the other team is running and getting easy buckets off of our careless turnovers.
