Another TMAC trade.
I know most of you are thinking, ahh wow..... another non legitimate TMAC trade via fanpost. This time it is legitimate. I was talking to my cousin and he has a friend that is involved with all of the Houston sports teams trade rumors, FA signings, etc. The trade involving TMAC would be:
Toronto gets: TMAC, possibly battier or scola, not both though
Houston gets: Chris Bosh
When i heard this i was a believer due to us being one of the front runners for Bosh in the 2010 FA, and we only have the best GM in basketball and one of the best coaches in the last decade as well.
I'm all for this trade because Bosh doesn't have any chemistry issues from what I've heard. (as long as scola and TMAC go, not battier.)
Slight problem: We would have to trade Yao. I would rather have Bosh than Yao because Bosh is only 25 or 26 and is not injury prone like Yao is. Plus Bosh is just as good of a scorer, rebounder, post player as Yao. He also has a very good perimeter shot.
What do you guys think?

Well, they don’t “have” to trade Yao.
They could keep both. The center position would be set but also very expensive.
I don’t see Houston trading either Scola or Battier… especially when the team thinks Yao will be back and “cured” of his foot problems.
If the Rockets want Bosh badly enough, they could go after him in free agency…

1) I don't think this trade is happening.
At least not anytime soon. If Toronto thinks they can keep Bosh then they will, and if not they’ll probably trade him closer to the deadline or via sign and trade.
But why would they trade Yao? You can resign your own players above the salary cap, and Bosh actually plays less of the center position that Scola does.

Toronto will get more back in a trade if they wait until closer to the deadline…
… that is, if they are convinced they can’t (or won’t) resign Bosh themselves…

the reason we would trade yao is because
we cannot have two of the best post players in the game on one team. yes, fantastic on paper but talking chemistry wise, one of them(most likely bosh due to Yao being a quiet kind of player) might erupt and bosh is only 25 with no injury history. i think we should trade yao for an above average SG or SF. Joe Johnson seems reasonable but he’s going to FA probably. The one i can think of that may or may not be an equal trade is dwayne wade. maybe miami would also like a second rounder and cash. these are all just theories that will be miracles if they happen.

If you trade for anyone like Bosh or Johnson…
… you’d better be sure they are gonna sign a contract extension with your team.
Otherwise, it is probably a waste of time even trading for them…

I think you’d be just fine with two post players as long as one is a low post player and one is a high post player. LA is doing that with Gasol and Bynum, and I think Bosh plays even a little farther out that Gasol does. Same thing in Portland with Oden/Pryzbilla and Aldridge. Or even Boozer and Okur in Utah (Boozer plays low despite being less of a “center” in the Utah roster).
Also, even if you can lock Bosh into an extension, Yao means so much more to this team than just his playing ability. I cannot imagine how much money and exposure the Rockets pull in by having one of the most internationally recognizable basketball players on their team. How many Rockets have shoe deals in China?
Again, I think this point is moot for two reasons. One is that Bosh and Yao could easily play together. Two is that we ain’t seeing any move with Bosh for another 3 – 9 months.

That's why i posted this
We would be able to give bosh a good deal with tmac gone.

very good point there
if Toronto wants to get something out of it besides waiting for Bosh to go to free agency because i think they know Bosh isn’t coming back, therefore i trade might occur. hopefully with us :D

you dont trade the best center in the league......
for a player that is not, yes i agree bosh is a great player, but i would still like the FO to try and deal without having to put yao in the mix. yes he is injury prone, but its not his fault, how many other guys have you seen his size that has all the great skills he does? not alot, day in and day yao outplays some of leagues best big men. he cannot be contained and makes opposing defenses game plan for him specifically in a way not alot of players see. im still really shaky about throwing in either batt or luis, yes they are both older players but they have very good skills. batt is one of the best defenders in the league and can hit the 3 with conisistency, and not a bad overall basketball player, just not been asked to play the stars role before. and scola is a workhorse that is going to hit the open shot also w/ cons and has a great post game. im a big tmac fan (unlike most) and think we could benefit from a healthy tmac coming back to the team, good thing this is a contract year to see what he is capable of. id like to see some other ideas tossed around.

and btw.....
yaos injury should not have been that big a surprise. the way that he pushed himself to be game ready for the olympics was too much, if he rehabs the right way the possibility of this past injury has a less chance of happening, i mean he played the whole season up to the the playoffs. and then they way he comes back in that game after the injury to ensure the win, yeah you wonder why he did it or why he wasnt taken out of the game, plain and simple….that’s who yao is. he’s never gonna give up, he’s gonna play with nothing but heart, and idk if that’s something i want to lose.

Should be Battier and T-Mac traded if we make that deal.
I love watching Scola play.

It should be scola
Because battier is our leader and Toronto would want a good PF in return.

Scola is more valuable than Battier.
But you probably right about Toronto wanting a PF in return.

We could possibly do a bynum gasol type
But the problem is that gadol gets the ball more and bynum doesn’t have a great post game. But if both Yao and bosh can be ok with sharing the ball it will be ok.

Yao’s such a team player…
… I can’t see him not being cool about sharing the ball.
Getting Bosh would almost certainly lower Yao’s regular season minutes, which would help him stay fresh for the playoffs and lower his chances of being injured again.
The Rockets just made Battier a captain so it might be awkward trading him. He is considered a leader in the locker room & is high regarded by his teammates so trading him may anger the rest of the players. Trading Scola looks to be out of the question. Maybe Landry “buys it”, although I’d hate to lose him.
This is all speculation, anyways. I figure Toronto will want a boatload for Bosh and some other team may be more likely pony it up. Morey doesn’t seem to me like the type who will gut the team’s depth or mortgage its future too much to do this deal. Not if he thinks he may be able to sign Bosh for the money losing T-Mac’s contract would free up. He may be willing to risk waiting rather than trade away any of the team’s assets.
I could be wrong about that. But I ain’t getting my hopes up too high, either…
