Paging Rockets Fans in the Philippines : Solidify the Red Nation
I know guys, there's a a lot of Filipino fans in this blog site who are dedicated and a die hard fan like me. By the way, i have an idea to put up a sort of groups or organization to help our Houston Rockets fan based expand all over our country. True enough we are a basketball lovin' country, and NBA is widely known here. We can start campaigning and invites other Filipinos to join the Houston Bandwagon.
To all interested parties , we can exchange email adds to create suggestions , ideas or plans to make this campaign successful... So lets start the ball rolling...
Let us paint our Country Red.. We love Houston Rockets!

It'll be hard.
I’m embarrassed to admit that most Filipinos only root for big names like the Lakers and teams that have won championships over the last few years. I myself wouldn’t be a Rockets Fan if it wasn’t for some circumstances 5 years ago.
In my 2nd year of High School, I bought a T-mac shoe for my P.E. classes simply because it looked good. I didn’t even know my shoe was called T-macs until a classmate brought it to my attention. He said the shoe’s namesake played for the Houston Rockets. Up until that point, I knew little of the Nba. I only knew the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and the old Bulls’ Michael Jordan. I thought of watching Rockets game and from then on, I was hooked. I familiarized myself with some of the team’s history and also the Nba’s. I supported them ever since.
Count me in
What did you have in mind?
I was originally Baltimore Bullets (Wes Unseld and Earl Monroe—that’s how far I go), then Indiana Pacers (Miller time!!), then Miami Heat (only on their championship year) before I became hooked on the Rockets. You will notice that the three teams I mentioned—it was really more on the air time they got here in Manila. I grew to love the teams that I was able to watch.
It is only the Rockets that I got hooked on without having to watch a lot of their games. It was their 22-game winning streak in 2007-2008 that got my attention. At first I was a TMac fan but now I love all of them, esp. Kyle and Chase. It was the Internet (such as fan forums like dreamshake and news sites like chron.com and rockets.com) that is fueling the passion. Very intelligent, very witty fan posts and analysis.
Our players are very unique and colorful, astute like Shane and Chuck (he has a great outgoing personality), dramatic like TMac (hehe), and the rest hard-working, resilient, inspiring. I like our present line-up and their backstory. As they do well, it will be such an inspirational story in all of sports.
Anyway I’m gushing over the team already. Conan, what did you have in mind? Text me 0915-3831301
Thanks Rox and Suzaku
Yeah youre right Suzaku, theyre too biased in rooting for a team..like LA & Bulls. By the way, i more on the underdog, and the never say die attitude play with a lot of passion which i found in the team like the Rockets.. of course also because of Yao Ming.. love our own Asian fellow guys and hes very humble..
Hey Rox, thanks for the response.. i totally agreed on all the points youve made..Our team is so unique, despite of our present line up we still find ways to win.. thanks for the resourcefulness and ingenuity of GM Morey and our coach Adelman “the Handy man” whom i appreciated more than before.
Right now Rox, i would like to form a group or say organization exclusive for Houston fanatics here in our country. Spread the word thru internet, or even creating a blog site/ forum of some sort… I need your inputs here and together we come up with one idea in mind that will make all of this works. One thing i would love to create a uniform or t-shirt, key chain, cups , anything that emphasize or symbolize our team spirit, support and loyalty to our team. and if were lucky eniugh to be in the playoff, we would gather all Houstonians and will watch altogether in one place cheering and rooting for our team. Isnt that exciting? then having pictures and photographs and will post and share it to our main blog site the dreamshake.
Anyway its a long shot but possible.. we take one step at a time..
So there ..
So now we are three already and counting..
Rox , do you have any idea what will be our org. name tag?
Pinoy dreamshakers? is that cool?
How bout you suzaku any suggestions?
hmmmm.
A highly plausible one would be a forum but really, I’d rather converse Rocket’s matters here in TheDreamShake because there’s lot more we can discuss regarding the team with people who actually live in Houston, like a lot of the principal members here.
A longshot will be an Official Philippine National Houston Rockets Fanclub, complete with events and incentives. It will take a LOT of effort, time and money though.
yea me too:)
i wasnt born in the philippines, but i love the rockets and im filipino. I didnt even think much about the nba though i watched it much when i was little (my cousins hogged the remote) I rlly didnt even like bball until i thought for spring break to watch a rockets game with my friend, and it wasnt to see the rockets it was to hang out. I ended up loving the game and watching game after game. I was never a laker fan i found it too easy to jump on the bandwagon. I have loved the rockets ever since:)
????
Thanks CsQuarEd99
I really appreciate your thoughts and support to our team. By the way, hope you can visit our homeland and explore all the wonderful things that our country can offer, breathtaking beaches, wildlife, island hopping and of course the hospitality of our kababayans. Its really fun to experienced.
Agreed with that suzaku, its a very tall order but it can be done. We will try our best to make this possible probably with the help of our fellow Roxbeliever who happens to be living in manila where i also resides.
To end this note, just continue cheering for our team esp. now where the games with the sacs, is really very closed… so hope we take home the bacon..
Go rockets!
sali ako! I regularly blog with chron.com, and am a rockets fan mainly because of yao ming. i’d agree with hmmmm, give or take an m, that having a separate blog from dreamshake might be redundant, and we might be losing out on what the houston natives know better or have easier access to. Still, sharing leads on how to watch the games in manila could be helpful. So little coverage of the rockets games via the local channels, i actually watch the games, via the box scores and play by play. Yes, every one of them, most often live as it happens.
To all Filipino dreamshakers: Pacquiao won his 7th Title, unprecedented
To Pacman! thanks a lot ! you really make us proud! Congratulations!
Loyal Rocket fan
Since the Twin Towers,to Clyde the Glide,to Tmac & Yao ,now with a team with no stars, I’m still a solid Rocket fan.
That decade old championship drought can’t be a reason to cool off.
Thats the spirit Virgo
Thats why i love Rockets so much.. the team.. and the fans..keep it going!

Have so many things in mind.. im really excited about this. Our main goal is to established a Houston fan based in our country. And hope that other Rockets Loyal fans around the globe will do the same..This i think its a best way to show our appreciation and gratitude.. to genius Gm Morey and all Houstonians.. because they believe in our Asian Talents like Yao and the newly acquired Aussies in David Andersen. Hats off!
