What will the Rockets look like in 2010?

I would like to know what everyone's speculations are about the Rockets in 2010.

Seeing as how this season is beginning to be very exciting I believe we can make a statement for players around the NBA to start paying attention to the Houston Rockets as a potential Championship contender.

We already have a team of the most well rounded role players with great chemistry.

We also have the largest fanbase in China which brings all-star caliber players excellent opportunities to get large endorsement deals.

I believe that we will be keeping Yao Ming for a long time, most likely for the rest of his career as long as we can keep him interested in staying on this team by proving that we can be definite championship contenders.

As much as I am excited for T-Mac's return, he has a lot to prove to reach elite status once again and his performance this season may unfortunately hinder his chances at ending up back in the Houston line-up next season.

What do you think will happen to the Houston Rockets by next season?

I dont think any of the above is going to happen

From what I’ve heard from DM on the radio, the most likely way we are going to get a player is by trade. I dont think we’re going to get Joe Johnson (I hope im wrong) because he is going to want way too much and I think we’re not going to get a major by free agent because we resign Scola. Its still way to early to tell but DM knows what he’s doing so im pretty excited to see what he does.

Depends too much on what happens this season

Lot of young guys on the team, and it’s too early to say who will have a breakout season, who will just be okay, and who will bust. Until we find that out it’s hard to make predictions on what the team’s needs will be down the road.

I do think having Yao back will be a huge boost to what already looks like a competitive team this year.

i think we revert back to the slower style when and if yao comes back healthy, but this time around with better and more spread out offense. The run and gun team can only take us to the play-offs but no further. We’d need a dominant player that would command double teams and/or defensive adjustments to win a 7 game series against a good team. We reached the second round with only yao commanding this defensive adjustment, imagine what we can be if we’d have more offensive options. t-mac’s expiring contract would free 23M. a lot of money to spend on the free market.

Rockets will still run w/Yao

Yao is gonig to be replacing Chuck, and how many fast breaks has Chuck been leading?
The center’s job on the fast break is to rebound and make the outlet pass.
W/Yao,if the fast break isn’t there,he sets up and the offense runs. If there is a fast break,he hangs back on D and catches his breath.

Incidentally,McGrady makes great half-court passes. Expect the rebounder to pass to McGrady and then McGrady hitting Brooks,Lowry,Ariza,Budinger on the fly for lay-ups a couple times a game.

I’m starting to think that maybe…

… Houston trades for someone but not any of the huge names most fans think of.

I think they may try to get one of those young guys from the Grizzlies… most likely, Rudy Gay.

The Rockets have had several trades with the Grizz over the years. The fact that Gay didn’t sign an extension may mean the Grizz will try & trade him before the deadline just to get something for him.

I know some Rocket fans say they don’t want him for whatever reason. But the way I see it, if Daryl Morey decides he wants the guy on the team then I say that’s fine with me…

I had to stop arguing with drunks, Steeler fans, and all other fools.
It was making my brick wall jealous...

I'll trust any move Morey makes

but I’ve never been too impressed by Gay. He just strikes me as a guy who will always put up gaudy numbers for bad teams.

Agreed. Rudy Gay is not the answer

great team

one that can go all the way?
i think not. we need that super scorer like tmac/kobe types who can dig us out of bad games. yao isnt it.
hes a good scorer and a heck of a player but i dont think he can assert himself even that much, especially after missing an entire season and comming off an injury, that we could win over say the celtics, magic, lakers, denver or whoever happens to be good next year.

im praying for that big trade, return and resign of tmac, that gives us what we need other wise we are just oging to be a good team. One that few would want to play, but have little real chance of winning everything..

Dwayne Wade

Why is nobody talking about Dwayne Wade? I think of all the big name free agents that will be available next year, he is the best fit for the Rockets. He is a great go-to scorer in crunch time (as he showed the Mavericks a few years ago), and he plays good defense. He would be a great complement to Yao’s inside game.

He has not signed an extension with Miami, has he?

Trade T-Mac

For a double cheese of Brooks Lopez!

trade t-mac for an equal before deadline? I don’t think that’s possible. let t-mac play, see if he can be contributory to the team. if not, simply let his contract expire, free his league highest 23M contract for the off season.

2010

Keep the core guys (brooks, lowry, shane, landry, scola, hayes and budringer) if possible. All of those guys, except Hayes, will only be better in 2010. Wait and see what happens with Tmac. You cannot get much for him in trade right now since he is high risk. If Tmac goes and there is big money for free agents – get Amare Soudamire or Chris Bosh. Forget Wade and James, they are too much. Forget Joe Johnson because he really is not much of an upgrade over current team.

Stoudemire and Bosh will both get max contracts

So neither would be any less expensive for us to sign than Wade or James.
