My internet connection has been infuriating. Hopefully I'll have full access during the blood bath that is this game

Mini-preview
because eh fuck it we’re lazy:
The T-Wolves are not doing so hot right now. They’re off to a 1-10 start, Kevin Love is sidelined with a hand injury, and Al Jefferson has been out for most of the season.
But Jefferson should make his return tonight, and Johnny Flynn is playing great to start the season.
Canis Hoopus has a much better preview up, but most of what they have to say you already know: namely that Daryl Morey is some sort of genius.

Not a bloodbath yet.
I missed the first couple minutes, but saw enough to determine that if Houston was shooting a little better they would have a nice cushion.

Budinger especially.
Not sure I’ve seen him miss two open threes before.

Wolves Fan here
Oh if we could (by some miracle, along the lines of pigs flying or free health care) win this game I’d be delirious. This is how every Wolves game starts out, even in the 1st quarter and slow fade into farce. I shall now turn off my computer and hope to be shocked in tomorrow morning’s newspaper

Who knows, maybe you're our matchup problem?
The Wolves have certainly flustered us so far.
by Moondebah on Nov 18, 2009 7:43 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Both teams have 15 field goals made.
Rockets: 14 turnovers.
Minnesota: 13 turnovers.
I don’t blame everyone for not watching this mess.

Dear Rockets,
Please guard this “Al Jefferson” guy. He’s, like, good, and stuff. Kthxbai.
How many Biletnikoffs does he have? NOT TWO!
by ak2themax on Nov 18, 2009 8:06 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
we are already guarding him in the best way possible...
that is to make him shoot jumpshots. If he goes more in the low-post he’ll be tougher to guard and will probably put our bigs in foul trouble. He’s just been making the jumpshots. 7-7 for 16 points so far.
by suzaku on Nov 18, 2009 8:11 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
but interesting is.. he's -9 right now..
I’m finally convinced that the +/- stat is useless, will ignore it from now on.
by suzaku on Nov 18, 2009 8:14 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I wouldn't say it's useless
Just take it with a grain of salt.

they're far from useless
but just looking at the +/- stat from a single game, let alone from part of a game, won’t tell you very much.
by Only_A_Lad on Nov 18, 2009 8:31 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
but
We only have 4 fouls in the first half. We can definitely afford to push him around a little.

hmm..got a point there. but I do think that he'll still score in that situation..
he’s THAT good…3-point plays will probably result from that.
by suzaku on Nov 18, 2009 8:18 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Good little run to finish the second half
I think that our second unit should step up in the second half
by Rockets4LIFE on Nov 18, 2009 8:18 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
OK Trevor
You can take 10 3-pointers before the end of the 3rd quarter. You’ve proven your point.

what a poor end to the 3rd quarter
Up 1, but we should be up at least 10 right now. Turnovers.

Man, what a sloppy game
We have 20 turnovers and have given up 10 offensive rebounds.
by jack_ on Nov 18, 2009 8:48 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
we've been getting offensive boards too
We’ve got 11, we just aren’t making our 2nd shots…

we always get offensive boards, though
and I would expect us to against Minnesota. Minnesota is not a good rebounding team.

68-67
holy fuckshit that’s awful. Glad I’m not watching this.

David Andersen’s ESPN photo is priceless

if the Rockets get to 90 first we should win this game.

Dear God. At least four missed attempts in a row.

According to Yahoo!, our top performer is a guy who’s shot 7 for 17 from the field. Tells you everything you need to know about the game.
by Jeffrey on Nov 18, 2009 9:07 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
The 16 rebounds are a pretty good reason to bill him a top performer, I s’pose… ;)
by DribbleHooper on Nov 18, 2009 9:09 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Oh, I’m not disputing that at all. Just thought it’s amusing.

Trevor Ariza: Leading Scorer
18 points on 19 shots!
Now that’s what I call efficiency!
I support the Tornado Release ... and Young Bucks.

In the same vein:
19 assists!
19 turnovers!
I support the Tornado Release ... and Young Bucks.
by Prevenge on Nov 18, 2009 9:15 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
just to be fair...
he isn’t getting as much free throws as other high-usage scorers do. Seems the refs don’t respect him that much.
by suzaku on Nov 18, 2009 9:21 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
D. Andersen, 12:23, 3-4 FG, 2-2 3PT, 1 OR, 5 REB total, 1 AST, 8 PTS.
Why isn’t this guy getting more time and touches?
by DribbleHooper on Nov 18, 2009 9:08 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Chuck is playing fabulously
This Young Minnesota team has some good ball players. They need some seasoning
by Kari on Nov 18, 2009 9:12 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Twenty-five steals so far in the game. Wow.
by DribbleHooper on Nov 18, 2009 9:17 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
it's not the ref's fault
they can’t exactly NOT call it. It’s the T-Wolves fault for walking over and tying Ariza up.
by jack_ on Nov 18, 2009 9:21 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
didn't say it was bad to call it.
just said it was useless. the game was practically over.
by suzaku on Nov 18, 2009 9:23 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
What I thought was ridiculous was that the TWolves >walked</em over to Ariza to force the jump ball.
Some teams refuse to concede games, and I can respect that, but what the Twolves did was just stupid. Either play to the end or don’t. Don’t half-ass it.
by jack_ on Nov 18, 2009 9:31 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
So, let’s see… 13 point lead with 15 seconds to go. Yup, we’re 7-5, alright.

Yeah, Yahoo’s live feed lags way behind most of the other ways of following the game.
That includes carrier pigeons. :p

A W we were supposed to get
But what a difference in the 4th quarter tonight compared to the one last night, great execution

A so-ugly-you’d-slap-its-mama win is still a win. But boy, even the boxscore was ugly.
by DribbleHooper on Nov 18, 2009 9:28 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
yes the only efficient efforts were..
Battier, Lowry and Andersen’s and only Lowry had double-digit points.
by suzaku on Nov 18, 2009 9:32 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Another difference?
It was Minnesota.
There was no Joey Crawford.
Go on, try to beat them. Try to score on them. Stay in front of those guards. Try to tap out an offensive rebound on that Lilliputian front line. They're so awful, you're so good ... go on. Beat ‘em. - Kelly Dwyer on The Rockets

I love the win but I'm kinda disappointed that Landry didn't get his numbers.
but well, whatever. We’ll take a W anytime
by suzaku on Nov 18, 2009 9:29 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
oh, and that we didn't top 100 points.
I guess the streak ends at 10.

buzzkill
How many turnovers did we finish with? I was half watching the game at my bar, but every time I looked up, the ball was going the other way.

Take heart! Alternating wins and losses mean a slightly better than .500 season, what with a two-game win streak in October. That’s a lot more than many pundits were predicting for the Rockets.
