No, it's more painful.

Go on, try to beat them. Try to score on them. Stay in front of those guards. Try to tap out an offensive rebound on that Lilliputian front line. They're so awful, you're so good ... go on. Beat ‘em. - Kelly Dwyer on The Rockets

Could have been wrong about this Williams thing...ouch

That’s how it seems to go sometimes. Every now and then, some player who normally doesn’t put up big numbers — Raef LaFrentz, Zarko Cabarkapa — goes off against the Rockets for huge points.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 7:26 PM CST up reply actions

20 points by halftime sure sounds like an “ouch” to me.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 7:41 PM CST up reply actions

In a more serious vein, I’m not sure how to feel about essentially trading buckets with the Hawks. Is our D that bad, the Hawks that good, or a little of both?

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 7:27 PM CST reply actions

A little of both Hawks are scoring 110 a game.

NOW people will believe how valuable Yao is to our D.

I, for one, never doubted it for a second.

I’d just hoped the team would be able to make up for his absence… but the way the boxscore’s been reading, it seems I hoped in vain.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 7:44 PM CST up reply actions

I just hope Andersen gets out of his funk. 0-4, 0-2 from behind the arc, 2 REBS and 1 AST. Yech.

He had a 19 point night. I’m clinging to that.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 7:47 PM CST reply actions

Oh, yeah… on the plus side, he’s 2-2 from the free throw line.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 7:48 PM CST up reply actions

Im glad Williams has chosen this game to leave his 28% 3pt shooting in the dust.

Oh, yes, I agree. I’m so happy I could soil myself.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 8:18 PM CST up reply actions

This game is the perfect example of “nibbled to death by ducks”. The Hawks won the first quarter by two points, the second by two, and the third by one, for a five point lead. Maybe Adelman should consider expanding his rotation for this game to — whacky idea — ten players?

Yeah, I suppose that’d be a drastic move in response to a five point deficit, but still… sigh

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 8:20 PM CST reply actions

9:27 ATL – Shooting foul on J. Smith
9:27 HOU – C. Landry offensive rebound
9:28 HOU – C. Landry misses shot
9:29 HOU – C. Landry offensive rebound
9:32 HOU – C. Landry misses shot
9:33 HOU – C. Landry offensive rebound
9:35 HOU – C. Landry misses a 4-foot jumper in the lane

El oh el. It’s almost like Smith said, “STOP IT!” and smacked him upside the head.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 8:26 PM CST reply actions

yeah Landry was a beast on that play

Horford and Smith blocked him. I don’t think Smith fouled him on the last block but the other guy pulled him to the ground, that’s who the foul should have been called.

They certainly showed Andersen the door quickly.

Not sure what he did to earn 5 fouls that quick.

I don’t know why he didn’t leave in the unit that made that 14-4 run to open the fourth quarter. I mean, you don’t have to leave the floor until your sixth foul, right? Might as well go for broke when Andersen’s heating up…

Ughh ... what kind of substitution was that

I’d put this on the coach. I thought he pulled out Budinger and Andersen too early in the 4th. That unit had given us our 6 point lead. Though they may not have been our best defensive unit, they were putting points on the board and putting pressure on the Hawks.

Tonight our first unit was moving ugly.

exactly: thats crucial:

why break the momentum

thats an ill advised substitution

by CONAIR on Nov 20, 2009 9:06 PM CST up reply actions

Correct ... and Atlanta was getting confused

Budinger, Andersen, Landry and Lowry move so well even in the halfcourt.

In the first unit, Scola was being double-teamed, Trevor was missing his shots. Brooks had to create all his shots. tsk tsk I really wonder about this “first-unit” thing. Why do they have to finish the game if others are playing better?

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:10 PM CST up reply actions

Im too disgusted to type.

ATL shoots 50% for the game, and only wins that way? FFS.

well. I really didn't expect to defeat Atlanta

so this near-upset was a good showing. But I really hate the movement of our first unit when Trevor is missing. Budinger should be given a chance. He hit a 3 pointer early in the 4th

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:07 PM CST reply actions

Yes, the Marvin Williams show kind of sucked too.

And Andersen finally hit two buckets in a row after going oh-fer the previous three quarters. And Adelman yanks him out. WTF?

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:08 PM CST up reply actions

IT was that or the refs were going to yank him.

The refs seem determined to call every NBA rookie like he’s 20 years old, no matter how seasoned a pro he might be. Andersen gets that damn whistle, just like Scola did.

Go on, try to beat them. Try to score on them. Stay in front of those guards. Try to tap out an offensive rebound on that Lilliputian front line. They're so awful, you're so good ... go on. Beat ‘em. - Kelly Dwyer on The Rockets

by Xiane on Nov 20, 2009 9:09 PM CST up reply actions

Maybe so. I guess my thinking is “Damn the fouls; Andersen seems to be warming up. Leave him in and see what he can do before he gets that sixth foul.”

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:11 PM CST up reply actions

A good showing, but also one of those near-wins that can come back to haunt a team in situations where they’re only a game or two away from a playoff spot. Argh.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:09 PM CST up reply actions

bud,lowry,andersen, landry, battier

…as demonstrated by battling a 10-2 team down to the last second, and nearly winning.

It’s the nearly part that sticks in my craw, of course.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:17 PM CST up reply actions

I have a theory; I think we'll always play better

the 2nd time around. Tomorrow Sacramento and in a couple of days, Dallas again.

I don’t think this game tired us out as the Phoenix game did, so I expect a win tomorrow.

L.A. (first game at home), Phoenix, tonight Atlanta. Dallas we led big in the first quarter. We almost won all those games. Can we learn from those games?

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:16 PM CST reply actions

I sure hope so. That fourth quarter substitution is one of the more boneheaded moves I’ve ever seen him make.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:18 PM CST up reply actions

I sure hope somebody tells him

It’s so frustrating to see the efforts of the players go to waste

Big foul throws from Lowry and Landry

B .A. L. L . Combo is so effective

B-udinger
A-ndersen
L-andry
L-Lowry
We have one of the best 2nd stringers in this league, we have to utilized it all the time

by CONAIR on Nov 20, 2009 9:23 PM CST reply actions

Maybe so… but that unit that wasn’t so hot on D still put together a 14-4 run. Once they got yanked out, the score was tied in a blink.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:28 PM CST up reply actions

I never said that I didn't agree...

I just said that they may be as good on the offense but not quite as good on the D. And in this game, yes. They should have been kept on the floor when they were playing better.

by suzaku on Nov 20, 2009 9:31 PM CST up reply actions

I think it also had to do with Atlanta putting in its first team

but I think the line-up that is playing well should be given a chance to show if it could stand up to the opponents’ first team.

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:34 PM CST up reply actions

Yes, I do think that Lowry is the better defender.

by suzaku on Nov 20, 2009 9:34 PM CST up reply actions

+1

Agreed. Brooks is more of a lightning scorer, while Lowry seems a little more hardhat-and-lunchpail.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:35 PM CST up reply actions

I don’t want to read any news on the game

oh my that was a hearbreaker. I was about to pass out my the anxiety. I love Lowry and his never say die attitude. Lowry was amazing him and Landry never gave up. 90-99 any other team wouldve gave up. Not the rockets though. Gosh i love them hopefully we’ll get them next time but im frustrated!!! i can only imagine how they feel

its a moral booster

definitely we will pulverized SACS

by CONAIR on Nov 20, 2009 9:34 PM CST up reply actions

Considering that, by what I’ve read, this team expects to win, I would figure they’re as upset as we are, if not more so. I expect that’s part of what makes them so good after a loss.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 9:34 PM CST up reply actions

I really think it's their mental game and strong will that makes them

so successful this year. Lowry, Landry, Scola …

Was it only me but I saw Trevor giving up on several plays? I think he’s feeling the pressure too much and is getting frustrated at his game.

Well, we are too but RELAX and trust your teammates. I hope he learns to play off of his teammates.

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:38 PM CST reply actions

That's true.

He had a traveling violation inside when he tried to drive against the Atlanta defense and he also missed a three, both inside the last 2 minutes.

Maybe offense-defense substitution with Budinger going in for Battier/Ariza in the endgame. Even having Andersen would space the floor more.

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:44 PM CST up reply actions

What I noticed was on the defense

Once when he thought the 24 sec shot clock was going to be called, and another when Atlanta stole the ball for a fastbreak. I saw his shoulders drop and didn’t even chase.

Don’t worry, I like Trevor for our team.

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:47 PM CST up reply actions

its a learning process on T-RIZ

He should realized , hes our starter and he should elevate his game a couple of notch higher..

by CONAIR on Nov 20, 2009 9:57 PM CST reply actions

Our frustration level is rising

It only means we know this little team CAN win! I love it when some people from clutchfans call them the Rocket Smurfs :-) Cute tag. We’re small and we’re proud of it because we can hang with the best of them.

We kept Atlanta grounded and off their tempo, only relinquishing it for that 4-min stretch in the 4th quarter when we lost control of the game.

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 9:58 PM CST reply actions

69, actually… but yes, there’s time for redemption. I just hope we don’t come down to a situation like last season, where a game or two makes a huge difference in our seeding. Losses like these become huge at those times.

by DribbleHooper on Nov 20, 2009 10:21 PM CST up reply actions

Another questionable decision from Coach

Scola and Landry were NOT in the game for the last 5 secs. That gave Smith an easier time to follow-up the miss.

by RoxBeliever on Nov 20, 2009 10:07 PM CST reply actions

he tried to mixed up things: he screwed up

despite of that ,Hes still a good coach after all, were still above .500.. what a pulsating game..we will become a tougher team with this kind of down the wire game.

by CONAIR on Nov 20, 2009 10:46 PM CST up reply actions

Based on the result, yes. But we did get the shot we wanted them to take.

A tough jumper. After all we expected Bibby or Johnson to take the last shot . Who actually expected to see Smith flying through the lane like that for the putback.

heartbreaking, but they get the respect that we need

and we actually learned from this early.. rather than late in the season..

by CONAIR on Nov 20, 2009 11:28 PM CST reply actions

Barring injures, the Rockets look more and more like a team that…

… will will between 40 to 45 games.

They honestly strike me as a .500 team right now, winning 2 out of 3 VS bad teams while winning 1 out of 3 VS good teams.

That said, put a healthy Yao on this team and they will at least 50 games, I am sure…

I had to stop arguing with drunks, Steeler fans, and all other fools.
It was making my brick wall jealous...

by steeler-hater on Nov 21, 2009 2:31 AM CST reply actions

No need to be so negative. This is a brutal, brutal schedule right now.

I heard 610 quote Morey as saying the first two months of Houston’s schedule were the hardest in the NBA, and the last two were the easiest.

1 pt loss to LA in overtime? A two point loss to the NBA’s best team (by record, by numbers) on the road, on a play that I challenge ATL to repeat? The insane number of back to backs? Here are the losses that bug me: Portland (game 1), Dallas, Sacramento. That’s it. The others hurt, but some of those are going to go our way too. Only in Portland and Dallas were we really out of it by the end. Dallas and Portland are pretty darn good teams, too.

Go on, try to beat them. Try to score on them. Stay in front of those guards. Try to tap out an offensive rebound on that Lilliputian front line. They're so awful, you're so good ... go on. Beat ‘em. - Kelly Dwyer on The Rockets

I think the Rockets are 1 great player short of being a great team. Right now, they are just a good team. “Good” teams only win close games some of the time while “great” teams win those games most of the time. “Bad” teams usually aren’t in many close games. But the ones they are in, they usually lose most of them.

One great player?

Could it be?
That’s not McGrady’s music, is it?
It is!

Sorry, it’s not my joke, but I’ve been wanting to do it for years.

Go on, try to beat them. Try to score on them. Stay in front of those guards. Try to tap out an offensive rebound on that Lilliputian front line. They're so awful, you're so good ... go on. Beat ‘em. - Kelly Dwyer on The Rockets

Our Rockets will be nearing to that level...

Once T-Mac is given the go-signal to join the team..
hope he’ll jell easily with our team chemistry..
Lets wait and see next week.. if all of this willl transpire…

I think he's going to have to have a usage rate lower than 30%.

T-Mac is pushing to play soon…

… but the coaching staff is reportedly not convinced he is ready to go yet by what they have seen from him in practice.

I get what the deal is here. McGrady wants to get back early enough so he can try and produce some good numbers for himself so he can get another great contract from someone. The Rockets only want him back if he is close to 100% and will be available to play every night. Otherwise, they don’t want to pay him all that money being on the active roster for little or no production. They’d rather have the insurance pay him instead.

I wish they could trade him for something decent and get him the hell outta town. The way he has been reportedly acting lately isn’t good. If he isn’t gonna come back and be a team player instead of a diva who’s gonna ruin this team’s chemistry, then I for one don’t want him back…

A.I. in liue of T-Mac

Since they have almost the same personality..we must go for a lesser evil, why not try A.I. temporarily, Let us see if he can make headway to our team, if he didn’t click well, we have option to waive him off.. Isnt it possible?

I'm not sure either one is evil,

but I’d take TMac every time.
