Spurs @ Rockets; 11/27/09, 7:30 CST
San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets, Nov 27, 2009 7:30 PM CST
I don't know if anyone is going to put up a preview before the game, so here's a mini-preview:
The Spurs are off to another slow start for the season, but are currently 7-6. Injuries to the big three probably have something to do with that. Manu might be out, but Parker should be in the game.
Like the Rockets, the Spurs are much better on offense than anyone expected, but they are also (like the Rockets) much, much worse than expected on defense. Expect Houston to try to push the tempo against the old guys.
Oddly enough (noted by Hardwood Paroxysm this morning), they're 0-4 on the road so far. Go figure.
Update from Tom: Recap coming tomorrow - got hung up tonight.

you know, I'm kind of bad a judging this sort of thing,
but Ariza’s ballhandling skills seem to have gotten a lot better over the past month. He just seems to have more control of his dribble.
greg popovich has made the intriguing decision
of placing Timmy on Hayes and Bonner on Luis. Let’s watch what happens.
2nd stringer B.A.L.L SQUAD is on the floor
hope they will click this time
They are not running any clear offensive plays
They appear flustered and are rushing it. Hope Rick settles them down a bit..
we dont have any great half court plays
Just post up. On duncan. Not gonna happen.

whats going on with us?
We’ve always been like. Sometimes we just can’t score for 5-6 minutes. Brooks needs to take over.

shit just doesn't fall
doesn’t help when the players who actually get to the rim don’t get any calls.
we dont have stars
Thus, no star calls. You know that.

The other teams have started trapping Brooks sooner.. leading to fewer
chances for easy buckets. Let us see how Rockets counter..
i cannot believe they called that fowl on anderson
You gotta be kidding me.

by RedRowdy420 on Nov 27, 2009 9:25 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
yeah man i saw that
Shaq screwed that team up like he did phoenix
by RedRowdy420 on Nov 27, 2009 9:24 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
it has a lot more to do
with Mo Williams and Delonte not being nearly as good this year. Shaq wasn’t a particularly good pickup for them (though with the way Ilgauskas has played it’s looking a lot better), but he hasn’t been awful or anything.
so we could bring AI to Houston
And everything would be better? Not the best analogy but whatever.

true
Is anyone else getting tired of him pump faking and trying to draw the foul all the time though?

officiating is just stupid tonight
phantom calls, weird calls, etc. But the refs also seem to just be hesitant to call anything at times.
I thought the replacement refs were gone.
I wonder if Scola is hurt or something
seems like a good time for him to be on the court, after all.
clyde: ive counted 12 missed layups...
A lot of them by chuck hayes

"There were arms coming from everywhere, and I knew they weren’t going for the ball," Miller said. "I was just trying to get [the shot] up before they called some crap like ‘on the ground.’ "
"What do you want me to do?" Wright asked. "Do you want me to Derek Fisher him?"
"Give them some fucking credit, i mean for real." Jackson said.
"I just fell on my face for no reason," Bryant deadpanned. "I'm a klutz."
"Fucking right i'm preachin' it!" Carlisle replied.
"Rough life, isn't it. It's tough all over, isn't it." Smith chuckled.
" Let the Golden Child do that, or one of the NBA Without Border kids do that, it's all fine and dandy." -- Wallace on flopping in the NBA. "They've got to know that he's a [darn] flopper. That's all Turkododo do."
Mutombo, Ewing and Yao at the restaurant...
MUTOMBO: "The chicken is the bomb."
EWING: [Rubbing belly] "I gotta go work out tonight. I'm full. You got a treadmill for me?"
YAO: " Leave your car keys here and run home. I'll give you the keys tomorrow."
went to the game....
just horrible, actually were playing pretty decent, refs really did not call anything for us, and called everything against us! Can not believe some of the calls, GROSS! Just look at how many time they went to the line vs. how many times we went to the line!!!
