Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets, Nov 4, 2009 7:30 PM CST
And here comes a big test for the Rockets. Home game against the defending NBA Champions. Rematch of the second round. This time the worst part of that Rockets series, Artest (who I still have a special place in my heart for) plays for the bad guys.

I never thought I would be bummed that Chase Budinger isn’t playing… but… damn, I’m bummed he’s out.

that sucks....
i thought he would be good to go today, could really use him. but i think gasol is still going to be out right? not to say he is up to gasols level already, but thats still points comin at ya on both sides. what’s the official word for his return?

Surprisingly entertaining games in New York and Minnesota
Actually, I guess Pacers/Knicks isn’t too surprising (they both suck, but neither is unbelievably bad), but the fact that the T-Wolves are leading at the end of the 1st is kind of weird.

So if Kobe is hot in the first quarter vs the Rockets
Does that mean that he’s going to cool down in the fourth? Or go for 200?

Artest booed when he had position

I’d probably boo, if I were there. Not because I hate the guy or anything, but just because I like booing.

by Only_A_Lad on Nov 4, 2009 7:52 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Artest's handles are probably worse
But his recovery is MUCH better because of how strong he is. I mean, he lost the ball about 60% of the drive last year, but got it back all but maybe 2%

afaik
he didn’t have an option on his contract. However, the Rockets didn’t make an offer to extend his contract.
Morey probably wants to:
1) Have cap flexibility this summer
2) Be able to offer another expiring contract in any trade.

Who do you go to here
Let ABZ create? Run a play for Cook in the corner [they’ll never see it coming!!!!]? Battier for 3? Ariza creates at the top of the key like T-Mac? Landry with a 10-foot J?

hey, haven’t been around since last year’s playoffs… Brian Cook? Seriously? I imagined grungedave passing out as he checked in and had to see what was up in the game thread.
Also, thank you for chuck. He has been a revelation in my 20-team fantasy league.

Great googly moogly
Apparently breathing on Kobe is a foul, but smacking our players isn’t

and Ariza obviously thought they’d call the foul too, because he was trying to pretend he’d been shooting.

Just rewatched, and Brooks was absolutely shooting
But it really happened, after the foul, kind of a “I’m putting this up because”

Goats of the game
Brooks – 7 turnovers, especially late in the game. Missed 3 FTs, 15 pts on 12 shots
Ariza – 15 points on 21 shots. 2-7 from three. Battier 2-8 from three.
Adelman – not giving more minutes to Landry

we missed his shooting tonight
specially the 3’s we had a bad night on 3’s.

The absolute worst call
was Kobe’s 3 point play with 1:30 to go. The Rockets didn’t even contest the shot. Normally a point doesn’t matter, but obviously in this game, it did.
by jack_ on Nov 4, 2009 10:39 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
yea AB cannot miss FT's
if he did not, we would have won.

We are missing too many freethrows, we cant afford to do that, especailly against the better teams.

Hayes
Hell of a game…to bad he missed that easy layup that he has to make late in the game…

bad ass game
sucks the rockets couldn’t pull it off and decided to not even ATTEMPT a shot in the final 13 seconds, but such is life.
i think the fact that i’m sitting here bitching about an overtime loss to the lakers to begin with makes me excited about this team.
tough loss tonight but lessons learned for the younger folks.

They looked discombobulated at the end of the game
Why didn’t they take a timeout? it looked like they were scrambling and weren’t sure what they were supposed to be doing
