Wafer fails physical; Rockets sign Harris

From Mark Berman:

NBA sources told FOX 26 Sports the Houston Rockets plans to re-sign free agent guard Von Wafer fell through when Wafer did not pass his physical Tuesday night.

Sources told FOX 26 the Rockets may re-visit Wafer's situation soon.

With Wafer no longer an option the Rockets signed forward Michael Harris from the team's NBA Development league affiliate, the Rio Grande Vipers.

Well, so much for that.  Welcome back, Mike Harris!

Wow

when was the last time that happened?

When we traded Robert Horry?

I forgot who we traded him for, some team from the Northeast, but the guy we wanted failed his physical so we kept Horry for the rest of the season & playoffs & finals. And won.

I’m tired and rambling…

Sean Elliott.

Horry and Bullard for Sean Elliott. Glad that fell through.

i feel bad for von

he seemed genuinely excited to be back, but i’m glad we signed mike harris.

There were no bad choices on your poll.

Honestly, I’d like to see more of Jermaine Taylor. Very surprised Wafer failed the physical. But I like Mike Harris, and hey, why not one more undersized guy? Hasn’t slowed Houston down so far.

(bowing down in awe of your greatness)

Scott, I will never doubt you again. Promise.

HAHA!!!

i am laughing so hard that I got tears in my eyes…

i was so excited to see Von on red uniform again… DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!

don't bully me, i am from the D(etroit)!!!

If he is available later and can pass his physical exam…

… I won’t be shocked if Wafer comes back.

He probably wishes he had never left…

I had to stop arguing with drunks, Steeler fans, and all other fools.
It was making my brick wall jealous...

Why, oh why

Does everyone love wafer so much? He’s not Tmac, so you can’t excuse his immaturity. He plays no D. I guess hell have a few good dunks but that’s about it.

Get healthy CBud!

he's attitudes in the game last season

lights up the floor. his face expression after hitting the 3s…. he’s nowhere close to T-Mac in terms of floor productions (I compare them as they are in the peaks, so don’t go off on me at this one…); he’s very excited to watch, and entertaining….. Who wears the Mohawk better than him? CrazyPills, the faker?

anyway, Mike Harris deserved the chance, hope he can show up & get some floor time. he been pushed out of the lineup many times.

yes, Bud, get your ass up, we some smooth shooting…

don't bully me, i am from the D(etroit)!!!

Isn't a few good dunks enough?

But then there’s the Von Hawk. And we can call him Baron Von Wafer. Also, he’s really lightning fast, and can also shoot pretty well. Yes, he’s streaky, not prone to defense or passing, and can be high strung. But deployed properly Von is a pretty awesome weapon to have off the bench.

With the exception of Benedict Ron...

I’m pretty sure a whole bunch of folks wish they were on this squad. As long as they can be team players, I think the genius of Morey along with the Adelman system can excel Rockets TEAM ball just like Larry Brown did with Detroit back in the day.

by bigalshouseoflove on Dec 23, 2009 8:35 AM CST reply actions

Yes. Larry Brown sees the jews in rough rocks

from Shed, Hamilton, Billups, big Ben… (plus Prince & others)….

and the 2004-06 teams play as a team. one of them will step up at any nite….. all are starless-stars…. hmm…… that sound so familar……..

son of a bitch

How does Von fail a physical? Just when you think something is a mere formality…

by grungedave on Dec 23, 2009 9:55 AM CST reply actions

good question!

how bad of shape you have to fail the physical??!! i am thinking the Rockets had 2nd thoughts about signing him, as many point out, Budinger only be out for 2 weeks, no point of signing Von when Mike Harris deserved the chance.

don't bully me, i am from the D(etroit)!!!

by wanderboy on Dec 23, 2009 10:35 AM CST up reply actions

I don't think so

I don’t see the Rockets saying “Yeah, Von, come on down to play for us, here’s a contract…oh wait, never mind!”. I don’t think they really operate that way.

I mean, yes, I suppose you can see some sort of Machiavellian angle, but my guess is that something is wrong with Von.

by Xiane on Dec 23, 2009 11:40 AM CST up reply actions

moreover

I like to think that doctors have better ethics than that. Of course, given their behavior elsewhere, I suppose that’s a poor assumption to make.
