Do Houston Rockets Fans Want Tracy McGrady in the All-Star Game?

Hey, there, Dream Shakers!  Just a quick question from one of your friends over at Bright Side of the Sun:

Do you, as Houston Rockets fans, want Tracy McGrady as an All-Star representative in Dallas this year?  I ask because he has just over-taken Steve Nash for the second starting spot in the West behind Kobe Bryant.  Is it Rockets fans who are doing the voting, Chinese T-Mac-By-Association-With-Yao constituents or some other pro-McGrady camp that I'm not aware of (and hasn't been watching much of the NBA this season)?

I guess my question is: Do you vote for T-Mac to be in the All-Star game simply because he's a Rocket, despite his injury-marred campaign and the related drama between management and him or do you think another candidate who's actually played a full(ish) season so far should get the starting nod?

Thanks for your feedback in the poll and comments below!

No, with the friction between him and the front office, he's not a good representative for the Rockets.

Yes,

absolutely, simply because it would piss off legions of self-righteous idiots, causing them to cry over the fact that their favorite player isn’t starting.

No, for much less positive reasons.

Even without injury or limited playing time, he’s wayyyyy behind Kobe and Nash (and Paul and Deron and Brandon Roy and Tyreke Evans and, hell, Jermaine Taylor) in terms of Western Conference guards that I want to be in the game.

by Moondebah on Dec 31, 2009 2:05 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Absolutely not

Because Kobe and CP3 should be the starting guards.

Agreed

No excuse for CP3 not in the starting line-up

Steve Nash ahs been playing very well

and CP3 missed a couple games due to injury

CP3 should definetly be an All-star but i don’t know if he should start.

Brandon Roy and Deron Williams are deserving as well.

I think the East should have to forfeit a spot. I think Mo Williams Rondo and Jameer Nelson will be there.

i like tmac

and i kinda want him to play just so i get to see him play cause that obviously isnt happening with the rockets..
that said theres quite a few other ppl who deserve it more than him…

by AlDe2356 on Dec 31, 2009 2:35 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

yeah

i agree with OAL lol, even though Mac has already stated in an interview that he isnt going to play, which is why i dont see why people are making a big deal about it, i think it would be rather funny to see him come out with the starting line, he might put on a show (alley-oop off the backboard)

I want him to play in that game...

Just so he can see where he stacks up against everyone else.

Who knows

Maybe the All-Star game will be McGrady’s “Real Showcase”

B^2
In Daryl Morey, Rick Smith and Ed Wade we (usually) trust.

Yes Other

If the fans vote him in, he’s in. This is the process the league has chosen. People would probably vote Charles Barkley if they could have.

IS the process silly? Yes, but the guys voted in are the ones the people want to see. It’s the All STAR game, not the All Meritorious Performer game.

The kind of play he showed in his limited appearances is not…

… what I’d want to watch during the All Star Game. Anyone who tells me T-Mac is playing at an all star level must be on something.

His spot on the team is a waste. It’s better that someone else who can actually play at a high level get to play in the game.

Besides, the fact that the Rockets basically sent the guy home because they want to be rid of him tells me that I kinda hope they can trade him to someone before the All Star Game so he ain’t there as a Rocket…

I had to stop arguing with drunks, Steeler fans, and all other fools.

On the bright side...

If T-Mac does get traded to the East, his votes will only count in the East, making him below A.I. in votes. That’ll push Nash up to his spot.

Still scratching my head as to why A.I. is getting his votes though. Then again, that’s a pretty thin East guard line-up.

The fan vote only proves that…

… (most times) fans usually only vote for their long time faves and not with their heads.

For T-Mac and A.I. to have as many votes as they do is ridiculous. Neither deserves to be on the All Star team when based on their performances for the current season.

Not even close…

why is AI getting votes?

Because people are stupid, that’s why. Never underestimate the idiocy of the average person.

by grungedave on Jan 1, 2010 12:36 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

There was a movement to get AI into the Allstar game when he bailed on the Grizz

people were hoping if they can get him in the Allstar game that maybe Stern would change the rules so it wouldn’t happen again. They chose AI cause they didn’t think he’d be back and they knew he would take the spot cause he’s selfish

reminds me...

That concept reminds me of high school when the nerdy kid would try to run for student counsel or homecoming king……. and there’d be an underground “movement” to try and vote him in because of the supposed humor in such a result. Again… people are stupid.

Sometimes it's just funny

Don’t you people remember Sanjaya or whatever that funny looking kid on American Idol ’s name was?

Howard Stern told his listeners to vote him in.

I hate American Idol but I thought the fact that this guy kept advancing was hilarious.

AI starting in the All-Star game should not be amusing to anyone.

It's probably amusing to people who like American Idol

I’d guess some of them exist, though I haven’t met any.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

Yes

Because it would be hilarious

Yes

but it doesn’t matter as David Stern would rig the votes like he’s done previously.
