How do we like our chances against the Lakers on Wednesday?

Rockets host Kobe and the Lakers (possibly minus Lamar) on Wednesday night.

The Lakers come to town after getting blown out by Portland though.  They may be slightly angry as a result.

Update: Lamar Odom has been suspended for one game and will sit out Wednesday's game in Houston.

Accordingly... what say you:

Rockets ftw

As much as it pains me to say this as a Blazers fan with the Western Conference standings as close as they are, I think Houston wins this one easily. Even if LA had beaten Portland last night, you guys are playing too well right now and enjoying a terrific home court advantage at the Toyota Center. Look for Yao to abuse Gasol in the paint to the tune of 25 and 14. In all likelihood, the Lakers will be without Odom, too. No matter what he says, he did leave the bench after Rudy was fouled. Their frontcout depth will be especially weak, opening up the lanes for the likes of Aaron Brooks and Ron Artest. I see 104-88 Rockets.

anytime...

so long as Utah doesn’t win the division, I’m happy!

I think this is a chance for the Rockets to steal one game

The Rockets should get a solid win against the Lakers Wednesday. However, I’m still not sure about the playoffs and getting out the first round. We’ll wait next month to talk about that.;

Odom is a punk

I’m not sure it’ll hurt you folks that he got suspended for being an idiot against us last night…

dumb yes, but...

I fail to see how Lamar is a “punk”

I like the Rockets' chances with a healthy Battier/Artest.

The Rockets can dominate any team with a fantastic wing player. The Lakers have a good post game because of Gasol, but I have more confidence in the Rockets’ front court than the Lakers’.

Odom was a bad matchup for us

with him gone, this could become a blowout. Kobe and Gasol have to play close to perfect games.

by goingforthecorner on Mar 10, 2009 9:58 PM CDT reply actions

whats ideal for the rockets?

for us to move to the 2 or stay at the 3 seed (no shot at catchin the lakers), san antonio fall to the 4 seed, utah at the 5 seed.

that would set up the easiest path for us. we would avoid all 3 of those teams the first 2 rounds, and play the winner of that group (and the 8 seed haha not likely) in the conference finals.

so our games against SA are critical!

I'm kinda torn

A part of me would love to see us face Utah again and DESTROY them in the first round this time, but at the same time I’d like to see us play somebody different.

Let me go on the record here and now - I want the Rockets to kick the Flakers butts!

I am a die hard Flaker hater and the Rockets are my second favorite team.

apparently...

apparently the Longhorns finally realized they could field a team of Augustin, Durant, Aldridge, Abrams and a random scrub this year if they only these guys stayed in school…

imagine if ariza did that shit to artest while he was going for a layup

by Xiang on Mar 11, 2009 1:05 AM CDT reply actions

lol!

Ariza would be hospital

by the_hustler on Mar 11, 2009 4:12 AM CDT up reply actions

Ariza only did it to Rudy because he’s one of the few guys in the NBA that he has a chance of overpowering. He would never dream of trying that on Artest because he would be the bucket and the free throw.

by Artest4Prez on Mar 11, 2009 10:09 AM CDT up reply actions

Ariza didn't do shit to Fernandez

he went for the ball, accidentally hit him in the head, and Fernandez took a bad fall. He was ejected from the game after the review because the Portland fans were going to riot if he wasn’t thrown out. Only Roy and the Blazers bench did anything wrong.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 11, 2009 10:49 AM CDT up reply actions

i dont have a problem with what roy did. he saw his teammate take a bad hit, thought it was suspect, and let ariza know it. he didnt throw a punch or anything like that. im sure if ariza did that to a rocket, he’d have four red jerseys in face.

by flipasta on Mar 11, 2009 1:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Should clarify

what Roy did was mostly alright, but the Blazers’ bench should not have gotten involved.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 11, 2009 1:37 PM CDT up reply actions

They didn't

Only the guys on the court got involved. Bench players can’t leave their “area”.

There would have been more suspensions if the bench guys did something.

Odom

Sure the Lakers are without Odom, but we are without tracy and Skip. (tounge in cheek)

Bynum gone too

The Lakers are without Odom AND Bynum, they’re playing on the road where they’ve slumped lately, against Houston who has been red hot at home and Artest who was injured the last time the Lakers came to Houston will hopefully be on fire tonight. Rockets should win this one. I’m picking Houston by at least 5

by UHoustonFan on Mar 11, 2009 12:43 PM CDT up reply actions

and...

we’re missing the services of Luther Head, too.

then again, we still have Brian Cook. Who is useless.

by grungedave on Mar 11, 2009 1:10 PM CDT up reply actions

i think he should be our human victory cigar. i want to believe that deke actually has a role to serve on this team in the playoffs.

by flipasta on Mar 11, 2009 1:17 PM CDT up reply actions

Plain and Simple...

we are not the same team then when we last squared off.

and to touch on the whole blazers/lakers about to throw down, if that ever happened with us….

im gonna miss knowing skip would be leading the charge, ppl can say what they want, but he played with heart for us.
