RICK, Please talk to Crazy Pills!
I'm a fan of the Ron-Ron, despite his recent lunacy (jawing at Kobe in a losing effort, putting himself in the same sentence as King James, etc.). Having said that, it's time for Rick to say something...
The weird improv dribbling must stop, and the passing needs to get more frequent... His current style is almost as bad for our offense as an injured T-Mac is for our defense.
For example, we had two opportunities last night (3/18 vs. Pistons) to put the game away and in both instances the ball was in Ron's hyper-active hands... The outcome was so predictable that everyone I was watching the game with was able to accurately predict Ron's failure to penetrate, failure to pass and success in jacking up a low percentage mid-range jumper... He would start dribbling and everyone would cry "AOHHH" in disgust, throwing their hands in the air...
Com'mon Rick! Is that really what you were drawing up? I seriously doubt it...
I'd have been much more comfortable with Yao and Wafer playing a little two man game on the left side with Battier hiding in the wing, or maybe a high pick and roll play via Scola and Brooks... I certainly would've talked with Ron after he dribbled out the clock and took a wild shot the FIRST time...
Just talk to Ron will ya? His heart is obviously in the right place and I'm sure he'll listen... Right? I hope? Rick? Ya listenin'?

I thought that having played for Adelman in Sactown, Artest would be familiar with his motion offense which requires MOTION in the form of player movement and quick passing, not the up-and-down motion of the rock in one player’s hands. The way he’s been playing is basically the same as T-Mac, but without the explosive ability and hang time.
Here’s what Artest is good at on offense:
1. Posting up smaller defenders.
2. Receiving the ball while cutting to the basket in the lane, to make some contact and draw a foul (hopefully and-1).
3. Shooting spot up 3 pointers with FEET set.
Here’s what he’s NOT good at:
1. Dribbling 18 seconds off the shot clock between the paint and the 3-point line while trying (usually unsuccessfully) to drive past the defender in an isolation, then jacking up a contested fall-away jumper.
Seriously, I want to kick myself every time he puts the ball on the floor on the perimeter.
I wish Artest would take less shots…maybe it’s because with T-Mac out, Artest feels the need to “step up” (especially with Battier’s sub-par shooting), but that’s not the way to do it, mate. That’s why I love watching Von Wafer on offense, he’s a perfect fit for the Adelman system.

In a press conference that it’s Yao that should be demanding the ball, which leads me to believe that he lets the players make the play calls at the end of games, unless there’s a timeout.
But still, Ron shouldn’t be taking more than 15 shots per game, just give the ball to YAO!
