Just as a reminder: *this* is a Utah Jazz fan. Please try to keep your laughter to yourself.

This is a Utah Jazz fan.

This photo is real and also apparently not a parody or a spoof.

Seriously.

It's been three weeks and I still cannot stop laughing at this picture.

All I know is

That picture won me some free tickets to the Jazz’s most recent Rocket beatdown. I’ll be there again tonight, it looks like Yao might have won some cold sores and maybe mono for his picture. I’d take NBA tickets every time.

the man on the left

is me, and you bet your ass I am serious!
You Rocket fans have it tough, watching the Jazz beat the hell out of you year in and year out.
I was at the last Rocket killing and will be there again tonight.
I cannot wait to knock your pathetic Rockets out of the playoffs again.
You have no answer to D-Will or Okur. Seriously this is going to be a beat down.

by themailman on Mar 24, 2009 5:46 PM CDT reply actions

check yo' history

“Year in and year out”?

Hmmm, I seem to remember the Jazz blowing a 12 point lead in 1995. At home. Rockets go on to win the whole thing.

I also seem to remember the Rockets blitzing the Jazz in 1994 in 5 games. Also going on to win the whole thing.

When have the Jazz won the whole thing? ;-)

by grungedave on Mar 24, 2009 5:53 PM CDT up reply actions

I just have to ask

why is “when have the Jazz won the whole thing” argument constantly brought up?
Fine, you beat us, and you won it all. And we didn’t. We get that. That was 13 years ago.
None of the guys from then are still playing now (unless Sam Cassell found another job… he was on that team, right?… I don’t remember)

Yes, Jazz fans bringing up the past is irrelevant as well, but it means a bit more right now because the teams are kinda the same (you guys have traded T-Mac for Artest… I think that’s a good trade for you, but I don’t watch the Rockets often enough to know).

Truthfully, all that can really be counted on are the 3 games this season… and even then, we played 2 of them without Booze and… well, I don’t remember the last one too well.

by UtesFan89 on Mar 24, 2009 6:53 PM CDT up reply actions

We get that. That was 13 years ago

And thirteen years later, it’s still funny as shit.

by Only_A_Lad on Mar 24, 2009 7:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Funny?

What’s so funny about repeating the same question over and over?
It’s not like we’re denying that you got it or something.

Funny due to repetition is when you sit and watch Tim Duncan after he thinks he was fouled.

Geez, Utes, is there any team you don’t hate? I can’t imagine what you post when the Jazz meet the Bulls…

I don't "hate" most teams

really just the MJ & Pippen led Bulls, and the Lakers, Spurs & Celtics right now.
Mostly because I just get sick of all the “blah” you here from everyone about them.

Speaking of “blah”… the Rockets have to be the quietest-2nd place team ever. I mean, I know it’s not locked in stone yet, but for being the #2 team in the West, you guys are getting very little “blah” (though that might be a good thing) from the MSM. At least it seems that way to me.

by UtesFan89 on Mar 24, 2009 7:51 PM CDT up reply actions

I read just about every “blah” article about the Spurs, and if you think they’re often portrayed in a favorable light, you’re crazy, Utes. We’re the team everybody loves to hate.

Well, the Lakers too.

I love this back-and-forth. Especially because these Jazz fans think they somehow have the upper hand because they beat us two years in a row… and then went on to do nothing but be forgotten. No one cares who finishes 5th, except Utah fans.

Scola

Scola is going to learn more about the root of his name- School.
He gets burned every time he tries to defend a more athletic and better skilled jazzman, but tonight he is going to have so many broken ankles that the swelling in the ankles are going to distract from his God Awful game.

I am being serious here Rocket fans, no one cries more and bitches more than that baby Scola.
Everyone hates him, not the way everyone hates the Jazz because they are the greatest franchise in the NBA, and they are sick of seeing their teams lose to far more skilled and superior team, but because he is a cry baby. I know it is hard to find fault in your own team, but you need look no further than Scola. He sucks!

i just love pregame hype. all the bias bullshit that goes around. i’m a rockets fan. i’m obviously going to go for the rockets. but realistically i’m not expecting a blow out. let’s be serious here. both are good teams. and themailman. don’t talk about scola being the biggest bitch. rockets have the reputation of hard working and being legitimate. jazz have the reputation of flopping and crying over calls.

Um...

every team has the ‘reputation’ of flopping and crying over calls.
As for “working hard,” most teams have players that do and players that don’t.

And no offense meant to anyone, but at times it really looks like Yao & Scola are going to cry.

(Yeah, I know… AK cried, and so I have no right to say that, and whatever. Eh. He’s over that, we’re over that…)

by UtesFan89 on Mar 24, 2009 6:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Oh, and not to be a broken record

but, I sadly get the feeling that until the NBA steps down on flopping (I really believe they should… I also really believe that they’re not going to), it’s going to become an ‘art’ in the league.

While I don’t like it, pretty much everyone does it (some for “good” reason… I mean, who wants Shaq falling on them to draw a foul?)… and the NBA lets them.

And don’t act like the Rockets (insert any team here) never flop. They do.
When it works, they get the ball, and it worked to their advantage.
When not, they end up a man down (literally) until he can get back up.

by UtesFan89 on Mar 24, 2009 7:00 PM CDT up reply actions

absolutely true. every team flops. thats part of the game and it shouldn’t be. i think every nba fan can agree on that.

but all ribbing aside, the fact that the jazz are known as floppers should mean something. not knowing anything else, that should clue one into whats going on. my issue is not that they flop. its that they’ll flop blatantly with no contact (as opposed to exaggerating little contact) and even do it during crucial times in the game instead of letting the ends of games play out.

that being said, i know the jazz are a good team, and i believe deron williams is a great player and a lot closer to cp3 than hes given credit for (hes an all star regardless of whether or not he gets the votes). I love guys like AK47s skill set (even though i hate him as a player). and i have to give my due to the malone/stockton teams of the 90s. they were good plain and simple. but they were also dirty, and notorious for flopping. and while that notoriety in itself (even if you believe its unjust) should say something, i think they backed up their reputation just like they do now.

Hey “grungedave”, you predicted a blowout tonight. You were right, it was blowout but it was the Jazz blowing out the Rockets. Once again, this year the Rockets are first round losers in the playoffs, no matter who they play, and especially if they play the Jazz in the first round again. Any team w/Ron Artest on it is a crappy team with no team chemistry and a “loser” team……………….

by montanesian on Mar 25, 2009 12:14 AM CDT reply actions

Thanks Again!!

Another post of the infamous Picture and the Jazz get another easy win. You should post it not only when we play the Rockets, but for every game the Jazz play!!

I’ve solicited the league to give a lottery pick to any team that loses in the first round in 7 straight attempts so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! Maybe draft a guy who doesn’t shoot bad shots or get bad turnovers late in games?

Best of luck and go Jazz

Utah Smacks You Down...AGAIN

We own you. You know it. I saw an article in the Houston paper about your latest collapse to the Jazz and half the comments were hoping Rockets fans hoping you don’t have to play us again in the playoffs. Ha ha, gotta love it. As for posting pictures of ordinary people who are Jazz fans and then making fun of their looks — I’ve been to Houston. Seriously, you don’t have any room to talk. I remember seeing a giant white woman in a mumu coming out of a Wal-Mart with a liter of Mountain Dew — really sums up your town.
