Sports Guy chats with resident Boy Genius
Simmons is perpetually on notice here,
but he did manage to take some time away from J-Bug and Adam Corrolla to have a podcast with someone who can actually articulate thoughts. And on basketball, too.
Yes, Sports Guy did a podcast with Daryl Morey.
(Now I have never listened to any of his podcasts, so I do not vouch for any of the content if you do click on that link and download it. Consider this a community FYI.)

besides
it’s not like Morey ever says anything interesting. “Yeah, we use stats to evaluate talent. No, I can’t tell you anything about it. Nothing at all.”
It was fairly interesting
not so much because of anything Morey says, but because Simmons and Morey have apparently been friends since Morey’s Boston days. They discuss the MIT Sloan Sports Analytical Conference, which Morey helped start, and various other topics.
The one thing that has always impressed me about Darrel Morey is that as much as he IS a stat geek, he also comes off as very personable.
Probably not worth listening to unless you have an hour to waste, but if you do…

Also, he manages to slip in a subtle dig at Rafer
When Simmons brings up Jason Kidd and why his shooting %‘s have risen so much this year, Morey says that as a defense you can’t afford to leave him open… unlike Rafer.

That was actually pretty informative
I almost always listen to his podcasts as back ground filler and like them, but this really had some good info.

Puts his Tracy comments in a whole different light
Not really. While it’s entirely possible Morey leaks info to Simmons, he seems closed-lipped enough that I really doubt it.
finally got to the part about Tracy
and it sounds like Morey disagrees with Simmons about him. Morey says conditioning wasn’t great, but it got better and McGrady worked hard to get back, but the knee never really got fixed. And there was a big miscommunication on the surgery announcement. Maybe that’s just politics, but maybe not.
I have no idea why Rockets fans continue to make a big deal about this.
And I agree with him that Ron is a deeply misunderstood figure. He’s the league’s anti-hero.
Okay this part's pretty good
Both Simmons and Morey complain about people claiming they have a definitive system to show – with absolute certainty – the exact value of a basketball player. And I’m pretty sure they’re both knocking Wages of Wins, especially when Simmons brings this post up about Brent Barry vs. Rick Barry and Morey laughs about its conclusion.
