Shane "A real All-Star" Battier

For all of you nba fans who dont admire Battier, you should now...forget about his clutch defense to end games, but his clutch 3's are always huge...a great player!

I had a argument 2 weeks ago about top 10 SF for a team...I said Battier was easily top 10, and the other guy (hou fan) said no way...

Do u guys think he is a top 10 player due to his great defense and good 3p%

No.

I don’t. There are just so many talented wing players in the NBA. Off the top of my head:

LeBron
Carmelo
Danny Granger
Josh Howard
Kevin Durant
Joe Johnson
Caron Butler
Andre Iggy
Paul Pierce
Tayshaun Prince
Stephen Jackson
etc

But, the problem is you can’t truly measure how important Shane is. Basketball stats have a long ways to go to quantify a player like his contributions. It’s not like in baseball, how everything is static, and occurs in a measurable and quantifiable way. The fluidity of basketball makes things a bit more difficult…

Regardless, Shane is (and probably always will be) underrated, and the Rockets are probably the 7th or 8th seed without him

Well...

Durant >>>>> Shane. Sorry, but it’s not even close. He may be the best pure scorer by the end of next season.

I also REALLY like Granger, so I have to give him the edge there. Otherwise, Shane has the other guys you mentioned beat.

take a gander at Durant's on/off court defensive numbers on 82games.com

The Thunder are fully 8 points worse per 100 possessions on D with Durant in. He’s like the anti-Battier. Now, he’s obviously got unlimited offensive ability and the potential to be a solid defender. I would obviously take him over Battier (or most anyone) for the long term. For this year, though, Battier had the better 2 way season.

i understand your argument

but it’s just so hard for me to ignore what durant does….he’s putting up better numbers than anyone has at age 20. LeBron, Garnett, Kobe. I can’t find anyone who’s been better at age 20 than KD has…

BUT. I’ll take Battier this for right now too. Very few players can create their own shots with any consistency, and KD is one. I don’t want to dog Shane, but that’s my take.

I take Granger any day. The guy does play defense.

That stop and go by Roy is straight sick. I'm calling him "The Flu" from now on. - Wendell Maxey

Battier played great on both ends. Great player.

A lot of credit has to go to his teammates for getting those O-rebs that led to the threes though.

Anyone who wouldn't want that guy on their roster

is insane. Ultimate glue guy. Great leadership. Great poise, clutch play. Good defense. Never makes a dumb play.

How did you guys win that?

yep, he definately adds something to the team that can’t be put on the stat sheet

Shane Battier on the court is like having your coach play with you..

He knows Houston Rockets plays, and the opponents plays. He knows where the ball is headed.

I have a newfound respect for Battier

I got 6 years of playoff blue balls going on, and I'm ready to release. GO BLAZERS. ~Mortimer

He's no top ten player, but....

At the end of a playoff game, (last plays of the game) I’ll take Battier over everyone on the above list, minus Lebron.

Can't believe Shane is playing this good!

I for one have been less than impressed with Shanie this season, although I realize he’s had foot injuries. But his confidence in his 3ball is sky high right now, just in time. Does anyone think we can beat the Lakers if we don;t totally plow it to the P Show? Bynum is playing terribly and Yao may have a mismatch down low.

Von has been an incredible playoff performer.

shane or rudy gay

now here is the real question u know we traded rudy gay for shane does anyone think that was a bad trade know. cause looking at rudy he is doing good for himself. i tell u what its a very hard descion cuz shane brings leadership and so much more but hopefully it will work out for the best all i know is know we are going to let tracy leave and we could have had a really young kid during the same thing tracy did but much better.

He is also great at fist pumping and screaming after hitting threes.

All joking aside, I’d love to have him here.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Battier is a great player...

this coming from a Porland guy. You guys have a couple of real great guys in Battier, Yao, and Deke.

Quintessential player...

I’ve seen the Batman out and about Houston in the Midtown and Washington Heights area restaurants and bars 5 or 6 times, and each time with a different girl – him, not me unfortunately ;-( …. The guy is a stud, and was easily the best looking person (m or f) in the places those nights… Is he married or just playing the field?

It's all my fault.. Its entirely my fault
