Reliving initial predictions, Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers: I'm just saying...
Here was what I told Kelly Dwyer at Ball Don't Lie before the series started:
Prediction: Rockets win Game 1, Lakers win games 2 and 3, Rockets win Game 4, Lakers win Game 5, Rockets win Game 6 and then anything can happen. Will the rich price out the true diehard in the upper deck at Staples for Game 7, negating home court advantage a bit? I don't know, but I do know this series is going seven games.
See, I have proof!!!: Ball Don't Lie
I don't know what happens in Game 7. Frankly, I don't much care. I don't believe in "moral victories" really, but it really is a huge step that the Rockets got this far. Don't stop believing though, the Rockets can beat the Lakers in Game 7. LA is snakebit right now, they can't believe what just happened. You could see Kobe at the end of the game, he knows that anything can happen in winner take all game. His teammates openly quit in the fourth quarter on him, and the Rockets defense made him work 10X harder to get a good look. He's Kobe, so of course he hit a lot of them. But the Rockets weathered the 3rd quarter storm and took the game in epic fashion.
So Houston Rockets fans, what's your prediction:

You are an idiot! This prediction has been the best out of any.

Nice find ak :D
In other news, I nominate Chuck Hayes for Secretary of Defense and Scola for Foreign Minister :P.
I must admit I wrote off the Rockets after game 5. After game 6, all I can say is I believe!!
Go Rockets!! Bring back some kobe steak from LA to Houston :D
Retribution.

So uh, what are your picks for tonight’s lottery?
After all is said and done, more is said than done.
I was able to read Kobe's mind for a short time tonight
Some sort of quantum mix up I guess. But I distinctly remember Kobe thinking:
“If these fuckin’ Rockets were my team mates, we’d never fucking lose! I hate you, Lamar Odom, I just fucking hate you.”
Go to the light. Go to the light...
Haha, its funny cause its probably true

I believe he actually said those words
but it was to Sasha as they walked into the locker room at halftime.

The more talented team is...
The Rockets. As much as I agree that Kobe is more talented than anyone on our team, it is time to officially acknowledge that our supporting cast is much better than the Lakers. I for one am sick of them reffering to us as less talented.

If you took Kobe and Gasol off the Lakers...
It would easily be one of the worst teams in the league.

I've thought this since the portland series.
We might have the deepest bench in the league considering we have no offensive powerhouse superstars on the floor for us. Unless you count Artest, but the only consistent thing about him is his defense.

And I've been killed by Lakers fans all year for saying it
Honestly, the Cavs have the better supporting case too

Absolutely the truth ...
Laker fans having been killing me too for saying this. I firmly beleive that if the Lakers lost Kobe like we lost Yao, they would not win another game in these playoffs. Here we are not winning one, but two game post Yao Ming. If the Lakers win this game on Sunday (which I not sure they will) they would get bitch slapped by Denver or Cleveland. Then coach jackson can tell them to “stop whinning and just play the game” again. I think it is pretty bad when your coach is miked up on national t.v. and he questions your desire to win the game your playing in. If the Lakers really want to pencil in their t-times for the off season why do they keep showing up at all?
I don't think it's desire, it's execution
But the two could be tied together.

Rockets in a close one?
Kinda odd that more people predict a close win for the Rockets than for the lakers, alot more. I thought the Rockets dont have a closer…but i guess since we dont have a star anymore we will do closer by committee. Its worked out so far, the committee thing, the closer hasnt been needed yet.

I've thought all season that ABZ needed to be.
When he’s given free reign at the end of games, it seems like he’s been great all season long. However, I don’t think the Rockets win in a super close one to win. They’ll have to win by at least 8. I think, however, if the Lakers win, it will be on a last minute Kobe surge, by like 3 points or so.

A new type of CLOSER
Our closer is actually an essence. It is TEAM DEFENSE.
Frustration, dissappointment, and all around bad-assness of the defense is the Rockets closer. We will lock it down tighter than girls from colorado.
General Observation from Lakers/Rockets
So at every home game there have been a few Laker fans wearing Laker gear. They really stand out in our sea of red, so you notice them.
Here’s my question. Do they ever MAKE anything but a Kobe jersey? I mean, if I wanted to (and I don’t), could I go into the Staples Center store and get a Bynum jersey, or a Farmar replica?
I have my doubts.
Go to the light. Go to the light...
So thats why kobe's jersey is such a good seller.
In order to get a lakers jersey, you have to get a kobe jersey. It all makes sense now.

And a Luke Walton one funny enough

You photoshopped that.
NO ONE would want a Walton the Lesser jersey.
Go to the light. Go to the light...
Walton?!
Are you sure they don’t pay people $45 to wear that one?
It must be great to be the son of a superstar.

That's a Kobe jersey
You can see the 4 is shifted to the right, why? Cause it had a 2 next to it.
Where is the choice on the poll
That says, I have no clue, and I won’t even try to predict because “anything is posibbbllle”?

I bet
I honestly think we’ll get 2 of those 3.
I’d really appreciate a Danny Crawford, L. Wood and D. Bavetta trio.
I say there is a 50/50 chance of DC,LW and DB
Otherwise the one Gils said is likely true

Violet Palmer is probably OK
Because she makes so many bad calls it ends up a wash

Kobe says
“I said the last game they’re not a chump team,” he said. “They’re not.”
That is was very respectful, I thought. Now, don’t you agree Kobe is a great guy?
"This is not a game for boys. This is a game for men." - Phil Jackson
He's a great basketball player.
If he was a programmer, he’d be the guy who coded 48 hours straight, slept at his desk, got up, and did stuff no one thought you could do. If he never left his office, (or the court), that would be fine with him. He’s the guy who would keep his team winning on the court at the Y all day, and other people would come and go, but he’d play all 8 hours.
His problems start when the game ends.
Go to the light. Go to the light...
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewww
Sooo much heart from my boys!!!! frothing, bring on game 7
"It's who we are," Battier said. "I don't think we're going to get the love of the six foot blonde bombshell. That's what the Lakers are here for. It's alright, I like our demographic."
my guess?
If the Rockets win, it will be close… first game decided by single digits.
If the Lakers win, they will win big.
(Close games favor Houston since L.A. will shank free throws like crazy)
You're probably right
So I’m going with Rockets by one.

I'm pretty sure it was
the same for the Portland series too. Which, by the way, does anyone even remember that series? haha (No disrespect to the Blazers fans around, it just seems like so much as happened)

I did.
Winner of the first quarter takes game 7.
I will allow a variable. If Artest is playing well on both areas of the floor, smart shot selection, good shooting percentage, great defense(almost a given), then the Rockets will win. Regardless of whether Kobe plays well or not.
Gotta go with Lakers by 10+ points
no T-Mac, no Yao = horrible on the road.
