Rockets/Lakers Game 1: Screw you, Mongolians!

Go away, Mongolians!  You are not knocking down our city wall!

Cap008_bmp_medium

Yao Ming overcomes a scary moment when he bangs knees with Kobe Bryant.  After a few tense minutes, Yao returns to the game and helps the Rockets put away the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1.  Final score:  Rockets 100, Lakers 92.

Yao finishes with 28 points 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.  Most importantly, the Rockets win.  Los Angeles has no answer for Yao and Aaron Brooks.

The Great Wall stands tall.  Rockets 1, Lakers 0.

Good win, it was good to see Yao get back into the game after the injury. Hate to see big men fall like that. See you in game 2.

Yao Ming = tru warier

the Rockets got some calls in the end, but it was a convincing win. Kickass.

Not as classy

sometimes it's okay to boo

I remember during the Texans’ MNF game last season, the fans booed a few gutless play calls. That was cool.

I Hate LA

(sounds like a song title…) But I would never boo my home team. The Fakers didn’t deserve it; what idiot fans.

if lakers fans boo their own team

it just further proves the term “fakers”. because they’re not really laker fans at all.

did you hear the lakers fans start chanting "Houston Sucks" when we went up by 8 early in the 1st quarter?

now who starts chanting that when you’re losing?? and in the first quarter of the FIRST game of the series?

deep down, their fans are scared of the rockets (as we proved tonight). we smelled their fear, and capitalized on it. plain and simple.

My love for the Rockets can be traced back to one word:

Hakeem.

The Clyde trade that sent him back to his ‘home’ in Houston, them winning instead of the Bulls, and now the way they played my Blazers. They are my second team.

And about the flopping. Neither of our teams are heavy floppers, but we both do flop.

Yeah, I know. But when he moved home then, his current home was in Portland.

So I say ‘home.’

Thanks for letting us borrow him so that I could grow up watching such an amazing basketball player.

What about Adelman? I was always fond of Rockets team of late because their players (for the most part) seem so humble. However, with the whole Sacramento coaching staff, Bobby Jackson (the year before), and Artest this year migrating over, they’re my 2nd favorite team.

by SeeingStars on May 5, 2009 1:20 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good point.

The Adelman connection draws me too.

And I gotta mention, also, the fact that everyone I’ve met from Houston is pretty cool helps as well.

Just read the Lakers SB blog

And you have to give those guys credit, they were classy throughout. Little to no complaining about refs, or cheap fowls or anything. Most importantly they were incredibly respectful when Yao went down, no one said any crap, in fact their comments looked similar to ours. Regardless what you think of Kobe and the Lakers, give their bloggers some credit.

Real Laker fans are as classy as any other fans. The problem is when the Lakers are as good as they are this season you have “lifetime” fans who feel a sense of entitlement.. i.e. 2008 Celtics.

by SeeingStars on May 5, 2009 12:56 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agree strongly

Many of my friends and adults I respected growing up were Laker fans. But they were the ones who were the first to admit when Shaq was traveling or that Kobe was a whiny bitch from time to time.

by staylost on May 5, 2009 1:00 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

you take that back

Kobe is never a whining bitch. He’s just frustrated that no one else is as good. ;-)

by grungedave on May 5, 2009 1:03 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol.

Kobe has improved immensely over the last 3 to 4 years it is unbelievable.

He really deserved that MVP he got.

His defense, leadership, passing, attitude all got better so abruptly it blew me away.

It still doesn’t make ME a Kobe fan though.
