Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets, May 8, 2009 8:30 PM CDT

The second half thread will auto post around 9:30.  I won't be around unfortunately to get everyone over there, so if someone would put a link up before the second half I would appreciate it.

JUST PLAIN DIRTY

now i would expect a fakers fan to tell me why this is just good defense.

looks like Bynum is punching Landry in tha face

Vujacic is shocked they called a foul (as usual)

You're not foolin me Kerry Collins.

That's because ...

he probably is. How else do you think the Lakers actually won all those games this season.

I pulled this from the AP:

Bryant was previously suspended for elbows to Mike Miller’s(notes) throat and Manu Ginobili’s(notes) and Marko Jaric’s(notes) faces, according to the Register.

Big surprise. What a jerk.

Who has sucked more dick at this point in their respective careers?

Sasha Vujacic or Robert Horry?

Literal dick sucking, not figurative. I don’t think Horry was known as a man milker during his tenure in Houston, so i’m giving the edge to Vujacic.

My answer

Billy Clyde Gillispie.

Man, I don't even follow college sports

So I didn’t know this was a coach until I looked it up.

I meant to say “the guy (or girl) who posts as Billy Clyde Gillispie”.

I respect most coaches.

It’s not Coach Gillispie’s fault some miscreant posts as him.

by Gils_Keloids on May 8, 2009 5:11 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

ha!

i’d say vujacic, but you have to put it in context. vujacic has a willing pif (that is, partner in fellatio) in luke walton. but i did also enjoy gils’ response.

by the grawlrus on May 8, 2009 4:34 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

what about Walton?

He looks like he sucks more dick than both of them combined.

by big jay on May 8, 2009 7:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

This may be off topic but . . .

Given the Billy Clyde Gillispie post above maybe ‘game thread’ has a different meaning round here or something.

But who needs tonight’s game more? Rockets or Lakers? Frankly, I’m not sure.

by lazNirv on May 8, 2009 4:51 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Rockets. It's a home game.

Go to the light. Go to the light...

by Xiane on May 8, 2009 5:22 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree...

I’d say the Lakers ‘need’ one of the next two before they get in emergency mode.

The Rockets on the other hand need two of the next two in order to keep whatever momentum they still have.

by flipasta on May 8, 2009 5:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I say both teams equally need this

If the Rockets win this game, it will show everyone game one was not a fluke and we maintain homecourt advantage. The Lakers will be down 2-1 and the pressure will be on them.
If the Lakers win this game, we’ll be hearing more of the “Rockets got lucky in game one because Kobe had a sore throat from deepthroating Crawford all night” stories, not to mention they take back home court. We’ll be down 2-1, and the pressure will be on the Rockets to try to win another in LA.
I personally think the team that wins tonights game will win the series.

I think game 2 already showed the Lakers that game 1 was not a fluke. If not for the faulty ejection we had a good chance of winning.

I like the Fisher-Brooks/Lowry matchup. I’m interested to see how extended minutes for Brown and Farmar shake up out for us.

Farmar is not nearly the dirty player that Fish is.

Ariza took out Rudy here and Rudy left on a stretcher. Farmar was the first one to go to Rudy to see if he was okay (Brandon was going after Ariza). Farmar was looking at Ariza like “what were you thinking”. Oh my gosh. I just typed that one L@ker has a soul. What’s wrong with me? I guess every team has a misfit.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Ugh.

“The Lakers are sooooo dirty!” “Everyone is against us because they want a Lakers-Cavs finals!” “We beat Portland!” Blah, blah, blah……..

Talk about “Little Man” syndrome. I think that fits the typical Houston fan to a “T”. Don’t you need to have some kind of relevance in this league for you to even be able to say with a straight face that the refs and the league are out to get you? You know, maybe doing something more than since the 1995-1996 season getting out of the 2nd round a grand total of 1 TIME?

Here’s a quote you may want to think about the next time you whine about something Houston…

“Success makes so many people hate you. I wish it wasn’t that way. It would be wonderful to enjoy success without seeing envy in the eyes of those around you.”

Laker fans are used to this sort of thing.

by DJ Bento Box on May 8, 2009 6:33 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Don’t you need to have some kind of relevance in this league for you to even be able to say with a straight face that the refs and the league are out to get you?

1) Monumental strawman. Nobody’s said the refs are “out to get” the Rockets, we just said the officiating was awful last night, as it often seems to be for visiting teams when the big-name clubs need a win at home. Bias towards the Lakers, not against the Rockets (though I don’t expect you to understand that distinction)
2) I’m sorry you’re so ignorant of other teams in the NBA. Though I expect as much from most Lakers fans.

by Only_A_Lad on May 8, 2009 6:58 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well not everyone here thinks that way to the extreme

But we do pretty much seem to all agree that the half the Laker’s roster are dicks who resort to physical violence when they get shown up on the court, and seem to confuse that with physical toughness. I mean cmon’ if it was a 12 vs 12 battle royale there would be a bunch of purple/gold corpses on the hardwood. oh btw this is a Rockets blog, so good luck forcing your opinion on deaf ears (just ask Gil).

I know where I am hardgay and I don’t think I’m trying to “force my opinion on deaf ears”. I do think that it tends to be pretty comical (and pretty moronic) when the best fans can do to get back at the other team is come up with battle scenarios about what team could beat the other team up. I’ve read a lot of how it’s admirable that Ron-Ron “held back” and didn’t do what he should have done to Kobe.

What do you dopes really think Ron would do? Do you really think anybody is going to duke it out in this league? Does anyone ever really look “scared” of anyone else? Ron ain’t gonna do Jack but get in Kobe’s face and get tossed and then tell all the reporters after the game what he would do “in the ’hood”. Pathetic. And any of you buying in to it and coming up with scenarios of what would happen and the “Kobe is gonna get his”. Doubly pathetic.

I’m sorry you post on here and aren’t smart or thorough enough to read other bloggers posts or other content in general.

If you’d have actually done some research there have been several asides noting how biased the refereeing can be and how much the Lakers are “allowed to get away with”.

Research helps when you want to back your yapping with facts.

by DJ Bento Box on May 8, 2009 7:06 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

well, that pretty much was what I said

so I have no idea what you’re complaining about.

The refs did let the Lakers get away with a lot. If you have a problem with Rockets fans complaining about it, I suggest you fuck off.

I don’t know. I think I’m going to stick around here for a little while. There’s way, way less brain power being used over here than on CelticsBlog so I don’t have to use my good material with you peeps. I can just run my yap and not have any facts to back up my rants and then when I can’t come up with anything witty or interesting to come back with I’ll just suggest for you to “fuck off”.

Sound about right, genius?

The turnovers are killing the Rockets, but at least we’re getting the few misses we’ve made. Conversely, the Lakers are rebounding their own misses at a low rate but how much does that really matter if you’re making shots. Defense has to step up for either team if they wish to win, hope this happens for the Rockets.
