Rockets/Lakers - I have nothing to add. Just looking ahead to Game 4 now.
There is not much else that can be said about Game 3. The Rockets had opportunities but preferred to just hand the ball to the Lakers and watch them fast-break. And I'm sure it's a breath-taking view watching Kobe and Ariza dunk from that close up.
It would also be nice if the Rockets could make an open shot. Alas, it was not meant to be. So, I'm doing my best to put that game behind me and I'm looking forward to Game 4.
Yes, Game 4. The game where I have tickets and will be in attendance.
So will this guy:
Okay, so maybe not Robert Horry himself... but I will be sporting his #25 jersey in the classic Red/Yellow/White color scheme. Also known as "the Championship Jersey". It is broken out of my closet specifically for times like these.
GO ROCKETS!!!

Artest F2 aside, that was a fair and square game
Congrats La. You won an honest game. Now i hope my rockets can pull themselves up by the boot staps and get back in this one. Game 4 is a must win. Its all but over if you go to LA down 3-1. And even Kobe didn’t act too much like a douchebag this game. I think the teams finnaly respect eachother now and can concentrate on good clean basketball

I've really become a huge Shane fan
This guy never complains. I appreciate having Stephen Jackson on my Warriors, but gets a lot of technicals when things don’t go his way. Shane just moves on and forgets. I’d love to have Shane here. Since I don’t dislike the Rockets, I just might have to look for his jersey. Kinda sad how Kobe has to keep jaw-jacking with Shane. Karma will come though. GO ROCKETS

battier complains to the refs occasionally
but, when he does, it’s a sign the officials have fucked up a call.

The theme of Battier's superb defense should be
Assault and Battier. lol. I know. It’s corny. But still I like it.

Right. Shane is a TROOPER. Put it this way. He is the BEST DEFENDER Kobe would see in this playoffs if they get past Houston..

Oh, puhlease!
LeBron is OBVIOUSLY a better defender than Shane!

^The above post made me think
Has Shane ever received a tech? Or, when was the last time he got called for one?
these fanposts are starting to kill me

Throughout my whole time ever seeing him play
I’ve never seen him get one. That dude’s awesome.

Challenge??? What Challenge?
Now that’s more like it. The Lakers and Rockets were finally themselves in this game. Of course, the Lakers were the better team and Houston has lots to worry about with a hobbled Yao. Expect a closeout game on Tuesday in L.A.

Can a Portland fan explain
the whole “L*kers” thing? Why is there a “*” instead of an “a”. Been trying to figure this out for some time now.
I have some theories but nothing concrete, thanks.

They consider it a curse word on their fansite
I think that’s original and creative. Kudos to the Blazer fans.

Exactly... everyone else
Like someone on here said… Laker fans, or L.A. fans in general, just like whatever mainstream is.

"L.A. fans in general, just like whatever mainstream is."
This one made me laugh at how broad a generalization it was, and what that means.
You do realize that by saying “LA fans in general” you’re assigning a characteristic to at least half a million people, right?
“See these 500 thousand people? In general they like whatever mainstream is”
Think about it. If I took 500 thousand Houston Rockets fans, in general, what they liked would probably be the mainstream, because you’re taking the main preferences of 500 thousand people.

Wrong - because I'm not a rah rah fan

So f-k LA is not allowed, my personal way I refer to them is either as the Fakers, the Fake Show or the L*ker$

This is one of the prime reasons you see a lot of arrogant Laker fans.. The HATE (fakers, kobe rapist etc) drives the arrogance. It is what it is though.

I always thought "fakers" was kind of stupid and didn't make sense.
“Flakers” makes more sense i think and ca actually be applied logically.

It was a hard foul
But if the foul on Wafer early in the 4th isn’t an F1 (and it wasn’t) Artest’s should be either….

Wafer initiated contact. That said, that shouldn’t even be a flagrant 1. Just a good hard foul.

BOYCOTT THE 2009 PLAYOFFS!!
This is utterly ridiculous! The refs have ruined this entire series, and Stern has turned the NBA into a Joke. I was watching Classic ESPN the other day, were they had an old Jordan era game and I said to myself…. Damn I miss the old days when the NBA was real and the refs didn’t cheat the game for there own ego’s! After these last 3 games of the Lakers/Rockets series I am BOYCOTTING the rest of the Playoffs. Not like I am missing much…. The East sucks, and the the West is ruined by ignorant egotistical referees. Not to mention David Stern making the NBA about as real as WWF wrestling. He picks who he wants in the Finals now days. Just like when the Spurs/Cavs played that hideous Finals Series, this years Lakers/Cavs Finals will be no different than last years pick Lakers/Celtics. Its all staged anymore and the refs ruin the NBA even as it is, being a sham!

It's now WWE
Get it right. Haha j/k. My buddy said that to me years ago when WWF became WWE. But yeah man, NBA is totally fixed. I still can’t help but watch though. I love to love the Warriors and hate the Lakers.

Rubbish Conspiracy. STERN didn’t help Kobe block Yao Ming 3 times. Stu Jackson didn’t help the Lakers get 11 steals (aka a big part of your turnovers). The call on Artest had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. 45 seconds left. You were down 10.
DEAL with the results. Boycott the playoffs because you have lost hope in your team winning the series and not because of some weak conspiracy excuse.

2002?
I suppose that was fair, right?

We are talking about the 2nd round of the 2009 playoffs since. Did you boycott watching the NBA after 2002?
Please deal with what is going on right now. The Rockets would need to play above their heads every possession to beat the Lakers in a 7 game series. There is a reason LA has won 6 of the last 7 games with Kobe leading the day by dropping lots and lots of clutch buckets.
David Stern and Stu Jackson didn’t put Kobe on our team. Jerry West did
by Emeka on May 9, 2009 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
There are so many ways to justify what you think is a conspiracy
How did San Antonio win if they are in a small market?
Why didn’t Houston start going to the finals every year when Yao was drafted, with all the billions of Chinese viewers the NBA would draw, increasing advertising revenue? Same for the Nets, why aren’t they in playoffs, surely David Stern would know the Chinese would watch games featuring Yi?
Why isn’t New York always in the playoffs, with their big market, affluent fans?
If it was all about the short term money, Houston would have won a lot more playoffs games, New York would be in the playoffs every year, and teams like San Antonio and Detroit would never make it to the Finals.
But David Stern is a smart man, and he knows that the best long term way to grow the fandom of the NBA is to promote the superstars in ads, and have an exciting, fair game.

Because Bynum wasn't marketble yet and Gasol, another all-star, wasn't on the team yet
Kobe being the only star wouldn’t really help. Of course not a lot of people would watch a movie without a good bunch of actors.

Uh Golden Boy you didn't answer Gils question
He makes a good point. If Stern wanted to make the most $$, then either the Lakers would have won the 2004 Finals, or the Rockets would have won the first round series vs. the Jazz at some point. In fact Houston v. Jazz is the ultimate disparity in market size, Utah has almost no market and Houston has the market of 1.4 billion chinamen. So your theory is not very accurate, son. Why has Utah kept dominating Houston?
by laker on May 9, 2009 4:28 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Son?
wtf? Dude get over it. Yes, I’m one of the very few peoples in this world who don’t jock the Lakers and think Kobe is God, daughter.
by Golden Boy on May 9, 2009 4:33 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is dumb
If you want to boycott the playoffs go right ahead. No one really cares. This whole discussion of a conspiracy is just plain dumb. As a Rockets fan, I have no problems with any of the games played so far. Usually, the better team wins and that team for the last two games would be the Lakers. Sure there are going to be bad calls on both sides, but I don’t think any of them have drastically affected the outcome of a game. There is always going to be teams and players more dominant than others, so you just have to deal with it. I wish some of you Rockets fans would stop complaining so much about the officiating. Bad officiating doesn’t result in miss shots, bad possessions, turnovers, and etc. Honestly, the constant whining kinda makes the rest of us look bad.
by Mejeh on May 9, 2009 6:29 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Then don't read
And yes bad officiating can cause missed shots. You can drive down the lane and Gaysol could shove the crap outta you, and you miss. No foul called because he’s on the team that the league bets on.
by Golden Boy on May 9, 2009 6:32 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
?
How does me not reading make officiating complainers any less whiny and annoying? Golden Boy, I know you’re not a huge Rockets fan but you (along with others) make it seems as if everytime we lose we blame the refs. And maybe you should bet on the Lakers everytime if it’s such a sure thing.

Blazers fans are Contradictory
First they say during last series that the refs are biased cuz Stern wants to cater to the 1.4 billion Chinese fans for Yao. Then this series they are saying that Stern actually don’t care about the 1.4 billion chinese fans and actually just wanna see Kobe advance. Sorry but that’s contradiction.
The truth is this. If you’re a superstar you get superstar treatment, doesn’t matter where. CP3, Kobe, Lebron, and D-Wade all get the superstar treatment. If you’re the Blazers, and you have a superstar (which Brandon Roy will soon to be), that player will get away with things. There’s no per-team bias, there’s only player to player bias.
