Ten things more exciting than the Rockets' performance in Game 3

Rickky_medium

Missing every shot imaginable is incredibly boring.  So is:

10. Shaving

9. Olive Garden

8. The English Patient

7. Sudoku

6. Harry Truman

5. A transatlantic flight

4. Observing shaving

3. Connecticut

2. "According to Jim"

1. Josh Powell

Pray that Game 4 is entertaining.  It will help us win.

"Small hairline fracture in left foot"

Time for Artest to take out entire Laker team. He will have the support of the entire country, minus Faker fans.

by Rocket's Red Glare on May 9, 2009 8:23 PM CDT reply actions

thats like half the country

there’s a reason why they are the #1 selling team in the NBA. they have tons and tons of fans.

haven’t you seen how many “Faker fans” show up at their away games?

Besides the Lakers are the NBA’a meal tickets and David Stern would never allow that to happen

by UnleashTheMamba on May 9, 2009 8:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, Artest is more popular and respected than Obama, except among LA fans. You’re a real genius; just the kind of nut to buy into the conspiracy theories.

There says we lost game 4

Right now, I don’t care at all.
Maybe tomorrow.

First Mutombo, now Yao...

Who will start at C now? Hayes? I’m depressed.
I hope Joey Dorsey gets play time so at least we’ll have something to laugh about.

Maybe Yao going down is a good thing

maybe this galvanizes the rest of the team, and adds more fight to them

by UnleashTheMamba on May 9, 2009 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Sure

Just like losing Kobe would do for the Lakers.
Please.

Also

I want to remind you that Yao is not our equivalent of Andrew Bynum.

I'm the biggest Lakers fan in the world ...

and I really, really can’t stand the Rockets. That said, this completely sucks—I don’t want to win by default because of injuries. This has been a superb first three games of a playoff series, really everything we could have asked for, so to see it go this way just sucks. Yao in particular has both impressed and terrified me; it’s clear that at full strength, we didn’t have much of an answer for him. I’m not sure the human body is designed to be 7’6—foot problems just seem inevitable, and the wear and tear of having to play for China can’t help—but he’s basically the most skilled 7’6 guy imaginable. Between the 85% from the line, that soft spin-baseline-fadeaway touch, the almost insouciant way he discourages penetration with his tree-like stature … it’s been a pleasure to watch him play in this series, and there is no part of me celebrating him going down.

That said, you guys don’t have a prayer without him. No offense.

A Lakers fan who shows SOME respect

None taken.

But don’t forget to thank the Rockets for taking the Blazers out of your way.
(God damn that loss to Dallas! We should be playing Denver now!)

He isn't a Laker fan LOL

Real Laker fan would not have the intelligence or reasoning skills to talk like that. He just might be the classiest Laker fan there is, if there was ever such a thing…

by Rocket's Red Glare on May 9, 2009 10:13 PM CDT up reply actions

you know...

it’s funny how we are always called classless in the least classy manner.

by Adamas on May 9, 2009 10:59 PM CDT up reply actions

The intelligence of Laker fans ranges across the entire spectrum. Calling them stupid and illogical is a bit ignorant on your part. If a Laker fan were to use those words he would surely be banned here.

Given this is a Rockets blog, you have the freedom to issue comments demeaning other fans. I do enjoy seeing people call each other out when they are wrong and then making fun of them and seeing funny posts regardless of the situation.

But outright insults are a bit uncalled for i think. Lakers fans may be annoying and arrogant sometimes but not all of them are like that.

also don’t forget that the Lakers have the pride of 14 championships behind them.

Funny...

You know, I’ve been reading this blog on and off for a while. And since this series began I’ve been coming here (to check the ‘opposition’) every day.
Generally speaking, the LA fans that have visited here haven’t trolled, haven’t been disrespectful.
Yet you – Rocket’s Red Glare – “Time for Artest to take out entire Laker team. He will have the support of the entire country, minus Faker fans.”

Yes you’re all class chief.

well

All the trolls have been deleted. ;-)

The Lakers fans have been very cool this series. Even after Game 2.

In general the Lakers fans have been damn good

I think SBN gets a nice fan set.

But ya, we’ve deleted a LOT of trolling

Yeah, maybe Artest can “take out the entire Lakers team” the way he did during the four beat downs Houston suffered at the hands of LA during the regular season. It’s one thing to be a fan, it’s an entirely different thing being a self-deluding, wishful-thinking, violence-baiting nut. Like Roy Jones said, “y’all must’ve forgot!”

by americaneyedoll on May 9, 2009 10:21 PM CDT reply actions

This season, LA has beat the Rockets six out of seven times. Is there any reasonable person in here who would argue that, even with Yao in, the Rockets would suddenly overturn the form book and beat a Laker team that has up to now won almost 86% of their games against Houston? If you can make that argument with a straight face I’ll suggest you go look up the meaning of ‘self-delusional’. Having said that, I’m sorry for Houston fans, and I hope Yao makes a speedy recovery. I would have enjoyed the series more with Yao in, but for now, I’ll simply ignore those Rockets fans who try to place an asterisk on LA’s victory over Houston. Maybe the Rockets should take a page from Boston’s playbook and play hard and not complain about injuries.

by americaneyedoll on May 9, 2009 10:35 PM CDT reply actions

no asterisk

but give me a break, the team the Lakers played in the regular season isn’t the same one in the playoffs now. The rosters are completely different. So GTFO with this “won almost 86% of their games against Houston” crap. The only time Houston had a comparable lineup was in April, but Landry was still out.

Now that Yao is out, I’m just sad.

by grungedave on May 10, 2009 9:12 AM CDT up reply actions

Championships are not built on frail knees, weak backs, suspect feet, and unstable temperaments. True stars are not born of wishful thinking by biased fans. Kobe is a beast; if you truly love the game of basketball you would give the man his due. Artest has become totally unglued since that elbow. He got shot happy in game three because his ego took over and he had to prove a point. There is nothing in Artest’s history to suggest he’d be anything but erratic in games 4 and 5. The real tragedy of Yao’s injury is that now Artest will be fully exposed.
