Time for the bench to make up for that abysmal performance in Game 3. Landry and Wafer gotta step it up!!!
Wow.
VON WAFER and CARL LANDRY have to step up? That’s the pick-up that’s going to put you over the top? You’re counting on VON WAFER “stepping it up”?!
Wow, indeed.
by DJ Bento Box on May 10, 2009 4:43 AM CDT up reply actions
Von has put up 20+ before
With Yao out the Rockets are missing 2 things, automatic offense and a post presence on defense. Those are exactly the two players that the Rockets have to count on if there is any chance of winning.
www.TheDreamShake.com Co-Founder and Writer
Wafer is a threat to LA
he had a career high 20+ points against the Lakers during the regular season. It would have been 30+ points but Adleman pulled him for reasons still unknown.
Don’t underestimate him.
Wow, this is more fun than I thought it would be. “Self,” I thought to myself, “surely you have better things to do with your time than to go to the Dream Shake and read the game thread for a game that has already happened, a game that has already been gloriously won, a game that you got to watch with a Lakers fan, no less? Is there any more sweetness to be wrung from the fragrant, delicious tangerine dream that was this fabulous blowout?”
Turns out the answer is yes, yes there is. Mmmmmmmm. Nommy.
I’m gonna predict that Artest takes 30+ shots today.

Gotta love the Rockets
As a Laker fan, I cannot help but respect and admire the Rockets. Compared with the Lakers, who are a flashy offensive team that’s asleep on their talent half the time, the Rockets have so much heart.

Actually if anything, they’ve played BETTER in LA. This Rockets team seem to thrive on adversity and odds that are against them

IT SUCKS!!!
sorry that was deceptive, but the problem is this: In game 2 and 3 our second unit kicked their ass, they outscored LA by 14 in the second the other game with kobe playing most of it. Sleepy Assleman decided that that wasn’t good, so he started putting in Yao who cannot keep up with LA. So he works hard and tries to catch up and he gets hurt. What results did this jerk get….Yao hurt and out for the rest of the playoffs, and us loosing those games. NOW we can only play fast and we’re killing them. LA cannot beat a team that runs as much as they do or more and also plays defense. IT SUCKS that yao had to get hurt for us to have a chance to beat LA………fire sleepy bring back JVG…or maybe even better steal Spoelestra from the Heat!!!!
Let's wait till the game is over

this is a point I made to a friend a few weeks ago:
Kobe (and, to a lesser extent, Lebron) both come off as guys who micromanage their image. The only real glimpses we get into his personality is when he’s on the court acting like a punk and an asshole. I always liked that about McGrady – his emotions always seemed more real, and he just seemed like a better guy. And his numerous failures only brought that out more.

And for the record, the Rockets have 2 of the most underrated players in the NBA: Battier and Scola.

he caught the ball and pumped it. no way he released it in .7 seconds, but hey…i’m probably nitpicking.
Man so crazy how inconsistent Brooks is
Game 4 makes me think he should be our full-time starter. I’m sure he’ll have a bad Game 5 and then Lowry should start.

Can we put Yao on the Ewing All-Stars now?
"Officiating has to be a science, not an art" - Rick Carlisle
the perfect storm
exactly what I thought would happen today, knowing this Lakers roster… they’d come out flat, Houston would be on it’s game. The real question for Houston is… can they sustain this level of play over 2 more games?
Btw, the Rockets would have won this game anyhow, considering how hot they are from behind the arc, no matter the Lakers lethargic play.
The best part is we get 1 more home game
At this point without our best 2 players, I have no problem losing in 6.

it would add to the entertainment value of this game, though

hahahahaha
you need a career game 30+ points from your nobody point guard and a crazy amount of emotion to get a game at home. this is gonna be fun the next 2 games. yeah, there will only be 2 more.
Our 2 stars are out
we’ll take what we can get. you guys got slaughtered tonite.

why is Vujacic called "the machine"
I mean.. no point man.. Scola can have that as his nickname..
Vujacic? wel…
hes closer to the "malfunction"
this year

yea
he’s called tha machine but that doesnt mean its a well working machine
You're not foolin me Kerry Collins.
this is what i'm talking about
Ron isn’t scoring, so…we have four non offensive players out at one time, he should take Ron or Lowry out to put in Wafer but he stinks at in-game personnel decisions.
the Laker's "pressure defense"
is atrocious. depending on how the officials call the games, some of those could have easily been fouls.

OK now they're just trying to get them back into the game
offensive foul right after the break

so the lakers guard combo
starts hitting the threes when the game is all but over. not a championship backcourt i say.

The Lakers were not ready for the Yao-less Rockets
I know, that doesn’ make any sense! haha!

rockets fans you should be proud of your team
they played great… my team played pathetic… all even now
appreciate it
i think game 5 will be incredible with both teams well prepared
by TheGreatWall on May 10, 2009 4:54 PM CDT up reply actions
i dont know about that
i dont think they were expecting the ball movement, improved defense, and the great point guard play. we just outplayed them.

anybody in houston
going out tonight to celebrate?
Luis
needs to practice free throws during the off season
Battier has now scored 23, he should jog backwards down the court telling kobe "you can't guard me!"
Ron Artest
The only way we win this series is if someone gets Ron Artest back under control. He played a terrible game tonight and took some terrible shots. The rest of the team compensated, but his bad shots in the 4th quarter should have us concerned.
Isn’t the coach supposed to address this? Or pull Ron when he starts taking too many shots?
yeah...hence the nickname coach sleepy.
he should have pulled him and put in Wafer
by cougarRoxFan on May 10, 2009 4:57 PM CDT up reply actions
i think with ron
we have come to expect the good and the bad. if the shots are falling, then no one says anything. I think he has done an incredible job of trying to control it so far in the postseason. obviously, he could do more (or less) but ill take what i can get with him
by TheGreatWall on May 10, 2009 4:58 PM CDT up reply actions
If he's on, he's on. And that's great. But when he's completely out of line
and taking terrible shots…. someone needs to reign him in. This is where maturity at point guard will come in: Brooks needs to get comfortable w/ denying Ron the ball if Ron is playing stupid basketball.
except
for when your coach tells you to let him dribble the ball down the court(or he’ll send you to the showers)
by cougarRoxFan on May 10, 2009 5:01 PM CDT up reply actions
Ron is a streaky shooter
he had two bad games in Houston after two good games in LA. It will turn around for him.

mad props tho
Lakers came out flat, Rockets came out ON FIRE, neither surprising…. but what IS surprising is that the Lakers fought back to actually make the game close with less than 3 minutes to play.
with a little under 3 minutes left to play, 11 points is too close to call… considering the action earlier in the quarter, it would have been very possible for the Lakers to close it to within 2 or 3 in the final minutes.
The comeback came short tho
well that's not how it turned out.
would have been scarier, but that’s not how it turned out

Nice effort, great hustle
Yao was too slow, but he was too nice for anyone to point that out. Well, except me.
And Aaron Brooks was sensational.
Ron Artest, not so much.

I disagree
the thing is that we are lucky enough to have yao, so if we need to play fast, we can sit him and if we need to play a good half court game, then you put him in. It all depends on your opponent.

Phil is a jerk
they lose game one and we just suck. They lost cause of their own fault….blah blah blah. NOW all of a sudden, “give them some f-ing credit.”
