Time for the bench to make up for that abysmal performance in Game 3. Landry and Wafer gotta step it up!!!

by M4G3RK on May 9, 2009 11:53 PM CDT reply actions

Wow.

VON WAFER and CARL LANDRY have to step up? That’s the pick-up that’s going to put you over the top? You’re counting on VON WAFER “stepping it up”?!

Wow, indeed.

by DJ Bento Box on May 10, 2009 4:43 AM CDT up reply actions

Von has put up 20+ before

With Yao out the Rockets are missing 2 things, automatic offense and a post presence on defense. Those are exactly the two players that the Rockets have to count on if there is any chance of winning.

Wafer is a threat to LA

he had a career high 20+ points against the Lakers during the regular season. It would have been 30+ points but Adleman pulled him for reasons still unknown.

Don’t underestimate him.

Wow, this is more fun than I thought it would be. “Self,” I thought to myself, “surely you have better things to do with your time than to go to the Dream Shake and read the game thread for a game that has already happened, a game that has already been gloriously won, a game that you got to watch with a Lakers fan, no less? Is there any more sweetness to be wrung from the fragrant, delicious tangerine dream that was this fabulous blowout?”

Turns out the answer is yes, yes there is. Mmmmmmmm. Nommy.

As a Laker fan, I cannot help but respect and admire the Rockets. Compared with the Lakers, who are a flashy offensive team that’s asleep on their talent half the time, the Rockets have so much heart.

IT SUCKS!!!

sorry that was deceptive, but the problem is this: In game 2 and 3 our second unit kicked their ass, they outscored LA by 14 in the second the other game with kobe playing most of it. Sleepy Assleman decided that that wasn’t good, so he started putting in Yao who cannot keep up with LA. So he works hard and tries to catch up and he gets hurt. What results did this jerk get….Yao hurt and out for the rest of the playoffs, and us loosing those games. NOW we can only play fast and we’re killing them. LA cannot beat a team that runs as much as they do or more and also plays defense. IT SUCKS that yao had to get hurt for us to have a chance to beat LA………fire sleepy bring back JVG…or maybe even better steal Spoelestra from the Heat!!!!

this is a point I made to a friend a few weeks ago:

Kobe (and, to a lesser extent, Lebron) both come off as guys who micromanage their image. The only real glimpses we get into his personality is when he’s on the court acting like a punk and an asshole. I always liked that about McGrady – his emotions always seemed more real, and he just seemed like a better guy. And his numerous failures only brought that out more.

i think there has really been one big difference

without Yao we are unquestionably better defensively, as we always have been. But Shane hasnt scored all series and he has today. That is the big difference.

Jackson

just realized he was dumb enough to start Fisher and not start Bynum. Lakers had a huge size advantage if they started Bynum and Gasol. Farmar played well in Game 3 and plays little in Game 4? Bynum and Farmar with just 5 minutes each? Good job PJ

Ron Artest

The only way we win this series is if someone gets Ron Artest back under control. He played a terrible game tonight and took some terrible shots. The rest of the team compensated, but his bad shots in the 4th quarter should have us concerned.

Isn’t the coach supposed to address this? Or pull Ron when he starts taking too many shots?

by johnsmithdc on May 10, 2009 4:56 PM CDT reply actions

i think with ron

we have come to expect the good and the bad. if the shots are falling, then no one says anything. I think he has done an incredible job of trying to control it so far in the postseason. obviously, he could do more (or less) but ill take what i can get with him

by TheGreatWall on May 10, 2009 4:58 PM CDT up reply actions

If he's on, he's on. And that's great. But when he's completely out of line

and taking terrible shots…. someone needs to reign him in. This is where maturity at point guard will come in: Brooks needs to get comfortable w/ denying Ron the ball if Ron is playing stupid basketball.

mad props tho

Lakers came out flat, Rockets came out ON FIRE, neither surprising…. but what IS surprising is that the Lakers fought back to actually make the game close with less than 3 minutes to play.

by tandur on May 10, 2009 4:58 PM CDT reply actions

with a little under 3 minutes left to play, 11 points is too close to call… considering the action earlier in the quarter, it would have been very possible for the Lakers to close it to within 2 or 3 in the final minutes.
