The Rockets were the only team who could have taken the Lakers out
I know this post doesn't mean anything, but honestly, I love doing whatever will rain on the Lakers' parade. I hate that fucking team. And although I was cheering for the Magic and Rafer Alston to win the Finals, I've gotta be honest and say this site is the superior fansite to Third Quarter Collapse. You guys welcomed me here and let me do all the Laker bashing I wanted. Over there, I couldn't even say I hated the Lakers. It's all good to be classy, but I just think they were patrolling on Laker hatred a little too much.
I honestly wanted the Finals to be you guys vs the Magic. I like to think that if Yao were healthy, you guys would have taken the Lakers out. Even without him, Dik and T-Mac, ya'll still took those bitches to seven games. The only team this past post-season to have done so. I'm sorry, but even though the Lakers are a great team, I'm not convinced they're as indestructable as people make them out to be. They played dirty against you guys to help back up my thesis. I highly doubt Dik will be back, but I think the only thing that's keeping you guys from winning the title next year is a suitable replacement for Mutombo. Of course, all guys have to be healthy. Oh, and Ron-Ron coming back. I'm serious. It comes at the expense of my Warriors being out west too, but with a full and healthy line up, I think your team has to be the favorite towards the title next year. Good luck!
No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Thanks.

We need to stay healthy next season
T-Mac ruined the Rockets short-term chances of winning a championship. His contract is weighing down the entire organization. What a bum!!!!!! One more year and his deadweight is off the books!!!

..and Orlando needs to let Turk walk...
He isn’t committed to losing weight and being an elite player. Turk has three more years of “all-star” potential, but it is up to him to make the adjustments to his game – particularly his weight.

Portland also might have beaten the Lakers. Too bad they never got a chance to try; they ran into the Great Wall of Yao (I know it's cheesy)

Portland is a really bad matchup for LA. That series would have gone seven games.

I'll go to my grave
thinking the Rockets would be holding up the Larry O’Brien Trophy right now if Yao doesnt get hurt. they took tha lakers to 7 w/o Yao and denver and orlando are teams the Rockets have always played well against. I dont think Houston/Denver or Houston/Orlando goes past 6 games.
I'M DISRESPECTFUL TO DIRT!! CAN YOU SEE THAT I AM SERIOUS?
GET OUT OF MY WAY, ALL OF YOU. THIS IS NO PLACE FOR LOAFERS. JOIN ME OR DIE. CAN YOU DO ANY LESS?

I think the Rockets might have even had a shot
had Brooks had a little more experience. I think “experience” is an overrated quality, but he was obviously very inconsistent between Staples and the Toyota Center.

i agree.
next season i hope to see him get more involved with making better plays and easy one-pass open shots.

Great posting buddy – had to toss a jab your direction just for kicks.
I agree with your assessment and you are always welcome to bash the Lakers :) I think we all knew (but rarely admitted) that if Houston or Denver didn’t stop LA, no one would. Hell, we were what – 4-0? 3-1? against the Magic this year (with blowouts!), we knew the inevitable was coming.
Anyway, great post and keep it up.

Oddly enough, I think Portland would've been formidable as well.
While we got out muscled by you guys, the Blazers match up very, very well with the Lakers. While our match-ups with the Rockets were a nightmare, for some reason this young team of ours gets up for the Lakers and plays out of their domes.
So thanks A LOT for booting us in the first round. We could’ve saved the NBA from a Laker championship if it wasn’t for your boys!
p.s.—give us Artest.

I heard one announcer
predict a threepeat for the lakers and then backed up his point by comparing them to the celtics cavs and magic that pissed me off. the rockets took them to 7 without tracy yao or dike and yet a fully healthy magic team that only took the series to 5 games is more worry for them

You gotta hate the lakers
They are like the Yankees of basketball. Kobe’s intense face (where he stuck out his lower jaw like a baracuda) just made me hate them even more.
The Rockets this year were the anti-lakers. An overacheiving team without any big ego’s clashing who just played great basketball. You have to love this team and be proud of what they accomplished. I cant wait for next season.

Yup
I think Yao got hurt because of the Lakers’ dirty play. It took them having to intentinally injure Yao to take the Rockets out. Fuckers.

We didn’t have a shot IMO. THe Lakers practically let us win 2 of the 3 games with their lack of intensity. If it was the NBA finals then they wouldn’t have been so casual against us.
