Crap.
According to Chad Ford, the San Antonio Spurs have just acquired Richard Jefferson.

I'm pretty sure Splitter is spending at least this year in Spain.
He’s kind of getting into the same situation Scola was in.

Wonder if we could snatch him from them, too.

The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to trade Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto a Bucks source told ESPN.com.
See, this is the benefit of having a bunch of really shitty players.

Is this really that good of a trade?
Jefferson thrived in the Nets system with Jason Kidd but has morbidly average since. He’s essentially a glorified spot-up shooter that can’t defend or rebound. Jason Richardson is a very similar player that really struggled when trying to fit into a traditional offense without a great PG (Baron Davis).
And…on top of that, you have to essentially pay him $30m over the next two years which takes the Spurs out of the running for top free agents next summer. I know Jefferson >>> Oberto + Bowen + Thomas, but that really isn’t the only consideration. They go over the luxury tax, lose a lot of front court depth, regress significantly defensively, and don’t really improve too much offensively.
This trade screams desperate I want to capitalize on the probably the last productive year of Tim Duncan. It’s time of risk GMs need to make more in this league, but for me- it’s not too likely to work out.
By “a lot of front court depth”, you mean Kurt Thomas, right? Oberto hardly played at all in the past season.
We’ll see.

damnit
not only do i hate this deal because the talent level is extremely lopsided, but bc oberto and bowen have non-guaranteed contracts so they could get bought out and then resign with the spurs, which considering without thomas and oberto, their front line is thin so oberto could be back. and bowen is a crowd fav in san antonio. i hate these kind of deals
