Stuart Scott has made that “Oh, by the way: there’s a draft tonight!” joke about three or four times now.

I miss Stephen A

scouting Ricky Rubio from birth?

Seriously, I wonder if ESPN has tried to fire Stuart Scott, only to have him demand they look him in the eye when they say that, at which point they get confused and leave.

I realize that was rambling

Stuart Scott wondered aloud if Fran Frachilla was in the delivery room scouting out Ricky Rubio from the moment he was born.

heh

It’s the secret of his power. Same goes for McGrady.

Actually, I had a professor last year who had a lazy eye like that. I could never tell which way he was looking, and it made things really awkward when he was taking questions. I never knew if he was calling on me, the guy behind me, or somebody on the other side of the room.

Did anyone see the ESPN thing on Griffin's training regimen this morning?

His trainer didn’t want to have his face on camera, so he wore this black face mask. He had Griffin running up sand dunes carrying jugs of water, and the whole thing reminded me of Al Qaeda videos.

with Harden

They have Westbrook at the one, Harden at the two, Durant at the three, and Green at the four. If they had gotten Tyson Chandler, they would be a scary young team.

the way any statement by Morey is twisted and scrutinized for hidden meanings. And, of course, those hidden meanings are always “We’re going to trade T-Mac.” or “We’re going to trade Yao.”

from Friedman's blog:

One thing I should point out here: The Rockets’ brain trust has an IM system set up that keeps a lot of vocal chatter to a minimum. You can still tell when there’s an air of excitement, of course, but often you have to rely on subtle body language rather than audible conversation. Makes for a very interesting dynamic.

at this point

would any of these players left help us at all? Or will they just be trade fodder?

I think Blair and Young could

Blair would be a weird fit, though.

I mean,

a lot of these guys were thought to be mid-first round/ late lottery picks at some point.

but

that still doesn’t mean they could help us

no,

but the point is that the assumption that a 2nd-rounder couldn’t help is wrong. These are talented players.

Don't think Budinger will cut it in the NBA

Posted this above but after Blair, I think Nick Calathes makes a lot of sense. We can store him over in Europe for a year and buyout him out next year if he does well. Jeff Pendergraph and Danny Green are both going to have 10 yr+ careers as solid role players- worth a pick at this point

Damn it

Pendergraph is gone…He’s a nice, nice player

Has DeJuan Blair been removed from the draft or something? It’s amazing that he’s still not been picked.

I’m of no use to you guys right now. Things are happening, and you’ll find out soon. But I can’t be the messenger. No one’s more bummed than I am. But trust me, you’ll find out soon.

Ricky Rubio

I seriously cannot believe that kid went #5.

The good news I guess is that he’ll be traded soon since the Timberwolves’ owner doesn’t really seem to care about making that franchise worth a damn.

I am still behind a Rubio for Brooks +1 trade if it ever becomes reasonable.

HAH - Boozer makes a team

Wow. ESPN is stretching that “truth” a bit. He’s good, but like cancer in the locker room if he’s unhappy.

by jasonmicron on Jun 25, 2009 10:01 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

well

He might play for us. The team’s pretty crowded right now, and he’d be competing against White and probably (should he get signed) Wafer for a spot, but he might do well.

He might go overseas and play for a year or two.

He might be used as part of a trade.

we’ll see when the FA period starts. But if he doesn’t sign another contract, I’d say that there’s a good chance Taylor plays for us.

Friedman:

bq,
I suspect most of you are enterprising enough to have found out the news by now, but I can confirm that the Rockets bought the No. 32 pick from Washington and acquired Jermaine Taylor, the SG from Central Florida. Again, apologies for not being able to let you know when everything went down about an hour ago – as I’ve said, the league has very specific rules regarding this sort of thing that can not be circumvented.

More news on the way…
