Would you trade Brooks and McGrady and Landry for Amare?
I would. I think it's a better deal than anything the Suns can get from GS. I can't see any other scenario where the suns get both a promising player (or two) and tons of cap relief in 2010. Landry had a huge leap his second year, and so did brooks. Both players would fit in well with what the suns like to do, and the Rockets would become a team that everyone is even more afraid to play (and could beat the Lakers or Spurs in 7?). Thoughts?

Not Brooks though
Could we rework it to be T-Mac, Landry and Lowry for Amare and Barbosa? We have a glut of PF’s on our team, and yes, while Scola would have to become the 6th man, he’d fit well being the guy who the offense runs through. We can also afford to sign a moderately priced 7-footer to a lower deal and have him be Dikembe for us (afterall, we do have Chuck Hayes’s D and I’m looking forward to seeing what Joey Dorsey will give us next year). I’d miss Kyle Lowry’s bulldog mentality, but if you trade Brooks, you’d have two guys who are more #2 PGs in this league, and I don’t really like that too much.
Watching Yao and Amare dominate down low would be nice. Both guys could be post up options out there, and both guys have good midrange jumpers too. Amare’s athleticism makes him intriguing. Plus, he looks pretty good when I watch him (when he’s motivated).

amare and yao both in low post
will give you shaq problems both want low post that would be dumb

Yao isn't Shaq though
One thing I’ve seen so far, is that Yao Ming doesn’t have to be down low to dominate a game. Yao has a little more versatility than Shaq as far as going outside. We could see that High-Low with Yao-Amare out there.
The defense troubles me, but with guys like Battier, Artest, Yao and Scola on this team, you know Amare would improve his defense to fit this team. I like the idea of Amare as a weak-side shot blocker on this group. This could be the change-of-scenery that Stodamire needs.

The rest of the rockets
could easily make up for his shortcomings. With Battier, Artest, Yao, and Landry on the court his defense is much less of a liability. And very few teams have centers (let alone PF’s) that Yao would be unable to leave to provide help defense, or that Artest couldn’t leave (if you put him on a PF) or that Hayes couldn’t leave (if he ends up being our back up center).
And don’t forget that Amare would provide the rockets with their only true “create his own shot” player.

Definitely!!
What’s there to lose ? We would get get Barbosa a former 6th Man of the Year and one of the top PFs in the game today in Amare. Barbosa could be a player that takes Brooks’ role as the scoring PG on the team or play SG for us and Amare would do what Landry does for the team now, but on a WAAAAAAAAAY, whole other level! And losing Tmac isn’t really a big lost cause he isn’t the same player he was before, he’s a distraction to the team and he isn’t gonna even play for a while or even at all so we really don’t lose anything but his big contract. It’s a no-brainer if you ask me.

Trades...
It would be insane to trade 3 players for 1. Amare is just as injury prone as McGrady!!!
It would be giving up on Lowry and Landry, two young and HEALTHY players. Trade McGrady and maybe Dorsey (injury prone as well). The Rockets won w/o Mac and proved they can win with the players they have. If the Rockets can re-sign Artest (love or hate him, he can play!) , sign a big man to play in Yao’s place, and add Amare, this could be a great team!
i would pull the trigger on this in a heartbeat even though id HATE to lose Landry & Brooks!! i feel if we are going to win with Yao it has to be in the next 2 years seeing how his foot injury is ever so nagging. we would still need a back up or starting 1 cause even though i luv Lowrys grit he can’t do it for the full 48 alone. Amare can back Yao & we’d still have Dorsey/Chuck to give some minutes @ the 5. Barbosa is a good 2 & would help solve that need for a starting 2. we could have White back him since we may lose Wafer. Battier of course the 3 with Ariza backing and sliding over to 2 also when needed. Amare starting 4 sliding to 5 when sixth man Scola comes in & Yao the 5. i dont feel a clogged lane would be a problem cause Yao has an outside 15-17 ft jumper & Amare has some jumpshooting skills, some. Amare may not play “D” too much but really neither does Yao. this trade could work and if not both Amare & Barbosa are easily tradeable but im sure it would work. do it Morey!
..aint no place & no teams like HOUSTON's!!
