The Great Wall has fallen
The nightmare has come true. Contract and Chineese obligations have finally gotten the better of Yao. Morey won't comment on the exact extent of the recovery time needed, but it is most likely that he will miss all of next season. My fellow rockets fans, what do we do now? We have to go into this season with the mentality that yao is done and gone. (It pains me to even type it) Help us Morey! We need you to stop the bleeding!
No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Thanks.

Ouch
I have heard and I am sadden. It is hard to say but it was only a matter of time. Playing for China cut Yaos NBA career in half. There is a number of things we could do. Starting over is probably the best thing. We could keep the team we have and wait for 2010 and let TMac go. Get Lebron, Wade, or Bosh and and hope Yao could come back and be effective. Or trade NOW. This is my choice. (Long shot) Heard rumors of a possilbe trade involving Battier and Brooks for Rubio. I would do it. Rubio has the skills to turn into a true point guard. He is a pass first PG compared to a shoot first PG in Brooks. He should already have the experience to compete in the NBA. He play with Tony Fernandes, and the Gasol brothers in Spain since he was 14. Then do whatever it takes to get Lebron in 2010.

but don't you think we should get somebody big to fill his shoes.
Chuck got taken to school in that last playoff game.(and i lost alot of money hosting a bbq) I think we should use some of our bench to pick up a true center. It totally sucks though. i had such high hopes for this season. (and i still do)

Why thank you, doctor. That pretend degree is really paying off for you, isn’t it?

don't be a douche
That’s exactly what all the sports articles are saying. If that’s all you had to say, you should have kept it to yourself.

That's not "exactly what all the sports articles are saying"
They’re saying that’s a possibility. And you know why they’re saying that?
BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT THE DOCTORS ARE SAYING! Anything more is based upon speculation.
And, no, you aren’t qualified to say if it’s anything more. So let’s hold off on the histrionics until we hear something definite, shall we?

Do i know you or something
Is this personal? Did i sleep with your sister and not know it? If you turn on your radio, you will hear the exact same thing. I’m here to talk basketball. If you have something personal against me, just say so. Otherwise, keep it to yourself. I thought you mod guys were supposed to keep people from putting up posts like yours. Now lets talk basketball. When is the last time yao finished a full season? He basically had to play yearround for 7 years and now it’s taking it’s toll. I don’t see him coming back at full health and being able to compete for the next couple of full seasons. It’s time to take what we can get. Ilgauskus(not sure on spelling) could really help out right now.

It's not personal.
Look, this is the same thing that went on when McGrady announced his surgery. We have a bunch of people (and, really, arguing that sports radio is saying something similar isn’t a good defense) over-analyzing a topic that they aren’t qualified to analyze.
That pisses me off for a variety of reasons, the biggest being that I just don’t like to see people try to make judgments about a topic on which they have little information and about which they have no expertise. It devalues professionals and level-headed thought.
As for all the stuff about Yao, yeah he plays a lot. I’m not arguing he’s not injured, I’m just saying that neither of us have any idea of how serious it is, and the first-hand reports (Bucher, the Chronicle) are much less pessimistic about this somehow ending Yao’s career. This is effectively the same injury he had in 2008, and the most likely scenario is that he undergoes the same surgery to correct it.

if it's not personal, then keep it to basketball
I understand you might be upset that Yao has a potentially season ending injury. First, you don’t know me. you don’t know what i’m qualified to do. Second,

i hit the damn post button
Second, “Why thank you, doctor. That pretend degree is really paying off for you, isn’t it?”, is just a cheap shot. Keep it to things you would say if you were face to face. I’ve been a fan since birth. i had no choice with my dad. and i’m glad he was a rocket fan. We have always been a respected team regardless of talent. Yao is like your favorite old car almost all of us had. Sure it’s beatup. Sure you have to fix it once a year(or more). But you love it anyway and it hurts when you realize you have to trade it in or junk it. Just try to stop being a lil miss sassypants and we can both enjoy being a rockets fan

Look, if you don't want to be made fun of
for either making a medical judgment when you’re not a medical doctor or misinterpreting what we’ve been told by those professionals, then I suggest you not do those things. Or, at least be prepared to do defend your statements.
We’re fairly lax around here. We make fun of people who post dumb trade ideas or write stupid things (see: that “trade Yao for Okur” thread a week ago). As long as it doesn’t get out of hand (and it’s a fine line between “light mocking” and “out of hand;” it’s entirely subjective and mostly defined by obnoxiousness), it’s alright.
And if you’re letting what I said get under your skin, then – frankly – I wonder how you can get through real life. What I wrote was pretty tame. No, you don’t have a medical degree. Yes, you did jump to a medical conclusion. And, yes, I made fun of you for doing that, because the Rockets don’t know what’s “most likely” to happen right now, and you certainly don’t either. Get over it.

then wht did morey call Gortat 1 minute after midnight? I think something got out before it was intended to. your right, i don’t have a medical degree. i am however an ER nurse and have to see crazy stuff everyday. blood really does shoot all the way across a room. so you can sit wherever you are and judge people. If you want to see what really happens in real life, then come visit my hospital. GO ROCKETS.
