The Rockets don't have any cap space.
Any signings from here on out have to be done at the MLE. Most of the MLE will probably go to getting Andersen signed, and the rest will be used to sign Budinger, Taylor, and anyone else the Rockets want out of their summer league squad. So, unless Odom is willing to sign for something closer to $1 million, I don’t think there’s any chance of him coming to Houston.

Scola....
I say no way to this trade and if we do get him; that will be a terrible investment; We have Luis Scola; a player similar in style to Lamar as far as scoring is concerned, and lets face it; Lamar has no defense. We should be thinking defense and defense only right now; and I think that could be supported by when we brought Ron Artest into town, we quickly became known around the league as a gritty team. With Wafer, Landry, Brooks,Scola, and Ariza, I think anyone of those guys are capable of scoring 20 or more on any given night.

Scola
is not similar at all to Lamar Odom in scoring.

Scola...
i’m meaning just as in ppg. Scola is more than capable of putting up the same numbers as Odom. I’d bet that any day, on any team. He’s a well developed; and underestimated foward in the league. And to think i’m not a huge fan of Scola, but I do respect his game.

I was referring to
the part where you said, “We have Luis Scola; a player similar in style to Lamar Odom as far as scoring is concerned.”
I wasn’t saying that I dislike Scola or think that Odom is far better or anything, they just have very different styles of scoring. Lamar very rarely scoring in the paint by backing down his opponent (even though he should). Scola doesn’t have the athleticism that Lamar has or the range on his shot.
Odom is a better talent but I like Scola as a better player.

My Take on Lamar Odom
Lamar is going to end up on a team that has cap room (Portland should be calling him RIGHT NOW as I write this). We don’t have the space. Midlevel- well yes, but then how are we to sign David Anderson, Chase Budinger and Jermaine Taylor?
Odom would be playing PF on this team, and last I checked, that’s our DEEPEST POSITION with the savvy Scola, the explosive Landry, and the hard-as-nails Chuckwagon (plus the ultimate Brick-layer Bryan Cook).
What we need is a SG.

In Daryl Morey, Rick Smith and Ed Wade we (usually) trust.

Sorry, not going to happen
How do you expect Odom to sign with us for 5 years and 25 mil? I’m sorry but are you serious? The guy was asking for 10 mil a year for 5 years from the lakers, which is 50 mil. They offered him 9 mil for 4 years (36 mil) or 10 mil for 3 years (30 mil). EIther way those offers are better than what the Rockets can pay.
I have a feeling the Trail Blazers and the Mavs are going to be gunning for him.

odom
Odom reject a 3 yr 27 million deal…you have to be on crack to propose 5 for 25.
odom wouldnt play PF…we have scola and landry
probably be 6th man backing ariza and switching battier to SG or trade him if we ever did get odom.
fact: we won’t !

we have wat we want, ANDERSEN!!!! odom doesnt wanna play here without an all star when he can play with the Heat, WADE. for at least 5 year 40mil so no this would not work we need a CENTER!!!!!!

Odom isn't coming here
To play on a possible lottery team for the MLE. Only remotely feasible way that you interest the Lakers front office in this is you offer Battier, Landry/Scola, and a first round pick (and associated filler if the numbers don’t add up) in a sign-and-trade, and Morey is obviously not moronic enough to do that.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
