Can Rashard finally come home?
After passing on him 3 times in the draft, to get three players we no longer have, does anyone think there will ever be a chance that we can bring Rashard Lewis back to his hometown here in Houston? The Magic have signed Brandon Bass, a low-post PF, the complete opposite of Rashard, does anyone think that should the Magic have a bad season this year and not win the Finals, that they will look to trade Rashard, a finesse player, who to me doesnt fit Orlando's style of play, and bring him back home to Houston. I know it sounds like a long shot, but anything is possible.

Battier?
Why would we need Battier? For Defense? Battier is an intelligent person, who realized coming out of Duke that he wouldnt score 20ppg or more in the league. So what did he do? He began to think defense, and I dont know Shane personally, but i’m sure Coach K gave him a little fyi before leaving college, and told him what his primary focus should be. I think many players in the league can play the same D as Shane if they are taught, it just seems right now most players in the league are only focused on trying to become the next freak athlete like Lebron!

That’s his largest contribution, but he does a lot of other things, too.

This is a fairly common opinion amongst NBA fans and pundits, so I think it’s a good idea to address it here.
People seem to think that what Battier does (or what Hayes does) is purely effort, and that’s simply not true. Battier is a supremely gifted athlete: it’s just that the gifts he has are different from your typical NBA player. He’s not very good at jumping high or running fast, but he has fantastic stamina and an ability to anticipate what his opponent is going to do that seems almost preternatural. If the average NBA player worked as hard as Battier does, he would not be as good as Battier. His defense would probably be improved, but Battier’s skills can’t just be replicated at whim.
Same goes for Chuck. He’s not very tall, but he has a very odd low center of gravity and exceptional strength, which – when combined with great lateral quickness – makes him one of the best post defenders in the league. Again, it’s not that he’s not exceptionally talented – it’s that his talents are very different from the typical NBA athlete.
The point is that these players are not guys who can be easily replaced. The Rockets cannot simply find a short PF and train him to be Chuck or a scrappy SF and teach him to be Battier. It just doesn’t work that way.

Battier is the mj of defense
Its pure talent..with a lot of heart..
Very rare to find in the League…there is no reason for him to be traded..its a no-brainer..
Wait what? Rashard doesn't fit the Magic's style of play???
How does he not fit? Pound the post with Dwight and space the floor with shooters. Lewis is most certainly a great shooter. So how does he not fit?
HELLO
Rashard makes 18 million per season. We can’t pay him.
Like I said, do some research.

This is what you get for asking people to quit it with the ridiculous trade ideas.

Th only way that would happen is if the Magic lose a ton of games and we basically do a cap dump for nothing
Which would look something like this, Rashard Lewis (19 million) and JJ Redick
(3 million) for Tracy McGrady (23 million)
LOL...Wishful thinking...unless of course someone bumped their head and re-hired John Weisbrod...LOL
LOL, but he did draft Howard over Okafur (remember that guy) he got Jameer in a draft night trade from the nuggets, and he signed turkoglu that summer
U guys think he was wrong about Mcgrady???

Id say no
He is too expensive!
He would no doubt sell more tickets if he played in red though. I know the last game Orlando was in Houston, my Dad and I got a pair of the tickets he buys for his friends and family in Houston. 6,000 dollars worth I was told. I met his brother and wife too. Though his brother and immediate family got floor seats, we sat in 70 dollar seats with his bodyguards and friends.
He was snub by Houston during draft 3 times. That really hurt the guy. Clyde Drexler even persuaded him to play for houston when he was FA but choses Orlando. So that will be a very long shot.
The Rockets were offering him the MLE
Orlando offered him the Taj Mahal, Clyde could have told him that Orlando was going to slaughter his first born and he still was going there

Well that wasn't very smart was it... just offering the MLE
but neither was offering him a max contract either :(

the Rockets offered him what they could, given their cap situation and his skills.
seems smart to me.

They had no other choice
There was 0 other dollars available and Seattle wasn’t interested in a sign and trade. Not to mention neither were the Rockets really
