Lists of Free Agent Centers that can back up Yao. Who is most qualified?

According to Mr. Friedman of rockets. com staff. Here are some of the List of potential free agent Back Up Centers for Yao:

1. Zaza Pachulia (Portland)

2.Anderson Varejao (Cleveland)

3. David Lee (New York)

3.Rasheed Wallace (Detroit)

4. Antonio McDyess (Detroit)

5.Rasho Nesterovic (Indiana)

6.Paul Millsap (Utah)

7. Jason Wilcox (New York)

I really like Gortat, but i don't include him on the list  since he is more likely suiting up for Mavericks. ;(

My  personal choice is Zaza Pachulia.. he's got potential,  and hes only 25 yrs. old..

Whom do you think  will best fit  for the Rockets? or do you have other preference aside from the lists?

david lee’s defense if pretty suspect. yeah you can say that he lead the league in double doubles, but it’s d’antoni’s system. put lebron in NY so that he can average a triple double for a whole season.

13 points in 39 seconds. Enough said.

Pachulia played for Atlanta last year, it was Pryzbilla in Portlant

Just a friendly correction, but Pachulia is my pick too. Especially considering Atlanta has Al Horford at Center over there. How tall is David Lee? 6’9? Don’t we already have two other guys who are 6’9 on the roster (Scola and Landry) who also play the same position?

Not sure about Lee

but I know Millsap is just 6’8/6’9. Probably not going to work at center, especially when facing guys like Thabeet, Gasol, the other Gasol, Bynum, Oden, Duncan, Gortat, whoever’s starting in OKC, Al Jefferson, etc.

Have a feeling

it’s going to be David Lee. However, I like pachulia as well.

David Lee is more of a PF I think

interesting

Half that list doesn’t play center… which I will take as bad news for the Rockets.

hahaha

thats what i was saying to myself…tho Lee has played C and Pachulia is a C and i think those 2 are the most likely options if we had to pick….

not really an option

After we signed Ariza, Lee stopped being an option.

Lee Lost

I agree with the person that said Lee was lost when we signed Ariza, but it was a huge mistake not going all out for Lee. Forget Lee’s size—he plays 7’6". He’s a power forward if Ming comes back and fills in nicely at C until then. Ming and Lee together would let Ming go outside and face the basket leaving the low post to Lee. Ming is too good of an outside shooter to play in the paint on the offensive end. He should be playing small forward on the offensive end. Houston will never win with Ming playing like a conventional center, and the inside banging has already taken its toll.

What about Hong Man Choi

He might give up fighting in the ring for the basketball court, well proportioned, thick legs, thick thigh, tough knees used to busting people in the head, thick chest and huge arms, well proportioned seven three fellow, not acromegalic

i like Rasho Nesterovic as a back up/starter this year hes a lil older but maybe a reason why we could get him, his price wouldnt be too much, either way we will NEED a big man to back Yao now and for the future

..aint no place & no teams like HOUSTON's!!

Rockets Starting Center 09-10

Zaza – seems like a hustle bulldog that fits the Rockets well, plus hes young and at a good price. I can see him start this season and become a great back up for Yao if he comes back.

Varejao – um no one is talking about him, who is interested in this guy? He hustles too but I think he wants a bigger contract that Houston cant offer him. I dont see this happening.

David Lee - nice numbers but I dont know too much about him. A lot of teams are trying to get him so it would be tought for the Rockets to compete unless we give McGrady and his expiering contract for Lee and someone else or a future pick.

The rest of the list are out of the question IMO. Marcus Camby would be a great addition for a 1 year deal, hes too old for anything more than that and too expensive, but hes a monster on defensive. Lets see what happenes Wednesday and who really signs with who. I still would like to see Gortat here.
