Yao Ming's surgery completed without issue

Yao Ming underwent surgery to repair the broken bone in his left foot yesterday morning and the surgery went off without a hitch.

From the Chronicle:

Rockets team physician Dr. Tom Clanton, assisted by Dr. Bill McGarvey at the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute, used a bone graft in the tarsal navicular bone to help repair the fracture. The realignment of the bones in the foot flattened Yao’s arch to reduce the stress on the repaired bone.

"Everything went according to plan and we were able achieve not only fixation of the broken bone, but also realignment of the bones to improve the stress pattern on his foot," Clanton said. "Yao is doing well and resting comfortably after these procedures. We expect him to be immobilized in a cast and using crutches for at least six to eight weeks."

i wonder if that would increase his foot size like it did for Big Z

13 points in 39 seconds. Enough said.

does anyone know

long-term effects of flattening an arch on one foot? will it cause more stress on other areas of the leg or the other foot as he adjusts to it?

Yao sized crutches

would be the funniest thing I’ve seen all day.

maybe...

Maybe we found a use for Brian Cook. He has to be Yao’s crutches.

Woj on Yahoo is reporting

That they removed Yao’s hands with this surgery. It’s possible it will end his career.

"So do you keep open 3pt FG percentage?"
"Yeah, we'd have everything you'd want, Bill."
"I hate you."
