star Tracy McGrady guarantees he will return to the Rockets for the 2009-2010 season and that he will be a major factor.
McGrady had microfracture surgery five months ago on his left knee and there is speculation he would miss most of, if not all of the upcoming season, and that his career could be in jeopardy.
McGrady spoke with FOX 26 Sports from Chicago where he is working out.
"It's really no comparison to how I feel now and I how felt trying to play all of last season," McGrady said. "My knee is feeling extremely strong. The most important thing is I'm confident in it. You guys just stay tuned. I'm out here grinding in Chicago, trying to get back right, but yes I will be playing for the Rockets in the '09-10 season.
"I will be in uniform for the Rockets this upcoming season, I guarantee you that, and I will be a lot better than I was last year. I will be back to the player that I once was.
"I will guarantee you that."

It's nice to hear
from his trainer this time around. For some reason I don’t recall getting many quotes from the person/people he was rehabbing with. I recall them saying he was doing more weights or something, but still I feel more optimistic when someone with Grover’s pedigree is saying that he is doing a good job. Obviously I don’t think Grover would say that T-Mac isn’t working, but still I like to hear it. I’m hoping he comes back as strong as he says he is going to. I’ll welcome him back with open arms if he comes back ready to work hard and play within the team. That’s all I can ask.
All these boundaries - Africa, Asia, Malaysia, America - are set by men. But you don't have to look at boundaries when you are looking at a man - at the character of a man. The question is: What do you stand for? Are you a follower, or are you a leader? -Hakeem Olajuwon

I kinda have a good feeling deep down about this
I can see T-Mac coming out on fire and then Morey trading him at the deadline for max amount of value. Maybe that Chris Paul trade that Bill Simmons loves to talk about

unlikely
it’s been over this several times, but Chris Paul is NOT GETTING TRADED. Especially not for a chump like T-Mac.
The recent Okafor-Chandler trade shows that New Orleans is no longer interested in saving money long term, but in keeping CP3 involved and happy.
More likely, T-Mac will get traded to a team on the cusp that has plenty of talent to trade back, and doesn’t mind using him as a rental, since they get money back next offseason. My canidates are Utah, Portland (watch them especially), and maybe Atlanta or Miami.
