Jazz wanted Mcgrady...
The Utah Jazz recently held discussions with Houston about swapping Andre Kirilenko for Tracy McGrady, Tim Buckley of the Deseret News is reporting.
Utah also appear to no longer be interested in the trade due to McGrady's health situation and contract status.
McGrady underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in May of 2008 and microfracture surgery on the same problematic knee late last February, and is now in a contract year.

Since we waited for T-Mac this long ...
the best deal we’re going to get out of this is finally getting T-Mac’s huge contract off the books in 2010, the year when the “super class” of free agents become available. It’s sad, much as I respect T-Mac, but it now is turning out to be that his supersize contract is his value to the team.
Of course, a better scenario would be for T-Mac to come back playing decently, but I don’t think that’s likely. Sigh … I do think the Yao-TMac era has come to an end and the team is now starting to look at 2010 to acquire those superstars to build the team around. After the last two promising seasons, it was just an abrupt and unexpected development.

Get used to reading this kind of BS for next 8 months
First what a load of recycled bovine waste byproducts. Jazz Management was living in caves since March and didn’t know T-Mac was injured or that his contract is expiring? Riiiiight!
Every freakin sportswriter covering a team that has a bad contract is going to be writing the same story how that team was/is/will be in dicsussions about unloading their garbage contract on Houston for McGrady.
McGrady will either come back and offer the Rockets something very few players can,or he won’t and the cap relief will be extremely valuable in moving forward. Morey isn’t giving McGrady up unless he gets an All-Star caliber player back.

This will *never* happen
Everybody with me, one more time: T-Mac. Is. Not. Getting. Traded. Okay? Period. I don’t care if it is the last year on his contract. What team is going to pay anybody $23 million to play—at best—half a season? Even Isiah Thomas’s Knicks wouldn’t have been that dense. Get used to the idea of possibly seeing McGrady in Rockets red for part of one more season and then being relieved of his contract for next year’s negotiations.
