Stephen Jackson a Rocket?

I saw this on the realGM... I'm not opposed to this!

Appearing in New York with Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson said he does not want to return to the Warriors this season.

"I don't think I'll be a Warrior next year. I'm looking to leave," Jackson said.

Jackson said the Warriors have been made aware of his desire to be traded.

"I really can't get too much into it right now, but I'm just looking to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship," Jackson said.

Jackson listed the Cavs, any of the teams in Texas and the Knicks as his preferred destinations.

hey

how about we just trade battier, cook and barry for captain jack since we have another battier in ariza who’s very athletic.. line-up..

brooks/lowry
jackson/taylor/t-mac rehabbing
ariza/budinger
scola/landry/hayes
andersen/pops/dorsey/yao out for season..

i’d hate to lose battier but it wouldn’t be a bad trade… dont get me wrong i still think the rockets can win games with the roster we have right now… in morey we trust … only time can tell he will make a trade that will benefit the team… maybe someone else??

Horrible

Nash and Jackson are way too old. Maybe if Yao was back for this year Nash and Jackson could give us the boost to contend.

no

we(warriors) are not trading away ellis, and jackson will not either. Ellis is part of our franchise, a cornerstone, will not be traded

heh

and people thought the Iverson “rumor” would’ve been un-Moreylike…

Jackson is a volume shooter. He does nothing else particularly well. He doesn’t rebound or defend or pass or do anything else that really helps a team.

In terms of an overall gap between real production and what the public perceives as his production, I think Jackson is probably one of the most overrated players in the NBA right now. And it’s not like anyone thinks he’s a world-beater or anything, it’s just that he’s really a mediocre player whom so many think is an above-average one.

Agreed

With the system the warriors used, it is easy for anyone to see Jackson’s numbers are inflated.

I disagree a little there.

First, for all those wanting a Von Wafer replacement – here he is. Only older, crazier and more expensive.

Seriously though, he’d be fine at low money, because he is a truly unstoppable scorer when he’s on. There really aren’t that many guys like that. His problem is that he thinks he’s always on. And that he pouts and is generally a pain in the ass when he isn’t getting what he deems enough shots.

Here’s my disagreement. I think that he’s normally a pretty poor fit for the Rockets. But right now, this season, I think we’re all wondering a bit where the points will come from. I think we have a number of guys who, if you gave them Jackson’s volume of shots, still wouldn’t score as much. So that’s where a fit could be made – we have plenty of defenders as it is.

That said, I’d much rather develop options we already have as scorers.

"So do you keep open 3pt FG percentage?"
"Yeah, we'd have everything you'd want, Bill."
"I hate you."

I would only take his contract

If he was part of a larger deal. He’s essentially on a 2/21m dollar deal, which isn’t exactly cheap given his skill set and age. That being said, I do think he is an underrated defender and passer, but his awful shot selection does make him quite an inefficient scorer. Having watched a lot of Warriors games the last few years, it’s hard to chalk up how much is due to his playing style versus the out-of-control playing style that is Nellie ball. He was a much better shooter in his SA and IND days.

Going back to my original point, I’ve mentioned this trade before, but why not try to tempt the Warriors with a McGrady/Brooks package for Ellis/Jackson? We could maybe throw-in a draft pick in there as well if necessary. I think the Warriors would seriously consider that type of trade- the question is should the Rockets consider making that offer? I say tentatively no, but it seems like an awfully appealing proposition.

Well...

At this point I would welcome a volume shooter.

To me Artest tried to be that and failed when we needed him most. Don’t get me wrong he came thou sometimes but come on with 40 seconds on the clock the last thing we need is a fade away 3 miss.

Anyways other then Brooks(the person who plays the one postion that shouldn’t be thinking about scoring all the time) we really don’t have any other offensive minded players (now that Yao and Tracy are not going to be back for a while). Maybe if Taylor is as good as I think he’ll be this whole trade would be null and void.

Jackson might bring in the double team to allow Ariza, Brooks and Scola to be open! I would’nt want to give up Battier, but Landry( the only one of these I would want to keep),Cook, and White I would like to see leave. We have just over a million people on our roster so maybe a 3 for 1 deal could be likely.

i take that back

i agree with you if we trade landry, cook, white it would be a huge steal imagine battier and jackson off the bench with lowry, pops, and hayes that would be a great bench… line-up

brooks/lowry
t-mac/jackson/taylor
ariza/battier/budinger
scola/pops
andersen/hayes/dorsey/yao out for yr.

here's a article about why captain jack should come to houston..

i just dont think giving up t-mac for him would be a good idea considering he will come back strong this season but jackson would be the perfect 6th man like manu or terry im sure he wouldn’t mind.. lets see what happens… here’s the link…

No thanks

We are already set at SF with Battier, Ariza, and T-Mac when he switches to the 3. All are better than Jacko easily.

The way i see it

Jackson is just another Artest with poorer defense.

I WANT MONTA ELLIS!!

Kid is only 23 with a lot of upside. Ship Battier and Carl Landry for him.

This article on Sporting News makes me find the prospect intriguing, if a bit improbable…

I live in the Bay Area and watch the Warriors all the time

NO ONE on the Warriors should be on the Rockets. They are all score first, score second, defense… never. it pains me that they are so horrible, and even steph curry (overrated) and anthony randolph (hothead who is also overrated) wont save us.

Its so damn hot... milk was a bad choice
