Yao Ming will sit out entire 2009-10 season

Yao Ming will not be playing this season.  Oddly enough, this is a good thing.

From the AP:

"The (X-ray) picture looks good. The bones heal well," he said in an interview with Houston television station KRIV.

He also said, however, that there is no chance that he will play in the 2009-10 NBA season.

"The answer is no. You don't want to rush it, because they want it to totally heal this time. I have been in this situation enough," he said.

Good decision on The Great Wall's part.  Look forward to seeing him in tip-top shape next year.

I have been informed

that this was Yao MIng, and not, as I thought, Tracy McGrady. This changes everything. I retract my previous statements. Get well soon, big guy.

Getting that injury exception might have been a tip-off this was going to happen.

With your appropriate and sincerely contrite retraction in hand I feel no need to rebuke you, Lad.

"THEY want it to totally heal this time"

Sounds to me like Yao is telling the media what the team told him, not telling the team what he thinks through the media.

Well,

I’m glad that at least Dave and Xiane seemed to figure out my point.

actually

Yao’s restaurant is supposed to open downtown this week or next… I was supposed to be getting an invite for it and possibly meet Yao. According to my friend who set it up – Yao and his family had FULL expectations that he would play this year. This could just be media posturing…

The real question is

will Yao’s restaurant have soup dumplings – xiaolongbao? He’s from Shanghai, they are from Shanghai, I need them. You need them. Yao should make this happen since he’s got so much time on his hands. If you are in with his people, please mention this.

Yao needs to remember to stay in the kitchen

and belt out “EAT THE HEAD” every 20 minutes to the patrons outside.

I thought it was pretty funny

Of course I’ve been accused of having a twisted sense of humor :)

This year....

will still be fun to watch our guys scratch and claw to make the playoffs, which is not such a stretch, but when/if they get in will be a whole different story on its own. and at the same time they will get the experience in this year and be that much more ready to make a push with yao next year. lets go rox!
