T-Mac Week 6 recovery training video

This Tim Grover guy seems to really be working Tracy hard. I am still skeptical, but Tracy is looking pretty good. Watch the vid and decide for yourself:

His jump on the 42" high jump already looks better than his hops did all of last season. Including the now infamous missed dunk against Milwaukee. He claims he wants to be back for training camp. Again, I am skeptical of that, but I like his attitude...for once.

No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

i hope he’s ready for training camp… all i know is he is gonna have a great season this year he owes it to the rockets and he also wants to proove everyone wrong and make a big impact this year…

I know some of you think there is nothing to be upset about with him, but I’m sorry there is a LOT to be upset about. That said, I would gladly put all this in the rearview if that’s how he’s working out daily

I never said I wasnt. But it is kind of like Dunta Robinson with the Texans. I was pissed about his conduct during the holdout stuff, but I welcome him back with open arms because he gives us the best chance to win. The Rockets will be better this season WITH Tracy than without him.

I still think he is a no heart punk who quit on the team last year.

Different cases

Many of us are upset with TMac for reasons that go way beyond anything Dunta did.

What Robinson did was a response to a negotiation that wasn’t going the way he hoped. The “franchise” and “transition” tag are almost universally despised by NFL players. They hate the tags, and think they are unfair, and give an already imperial NFL ownership structure yet another weapon against the players. The thing with Dunta really falls under “just business”.

TMac is another, longer, story. Given my benevolent mood to TMac at present, I’d rather not re-re-re-hash it.

I do want to point out that none of TMac’s near readiness surprises me. At the time he had the surgery I pointed out (my own, not officially sanctioned opinion) that it was the most minor microfracture work possible, in an area that showed good promise of benefitting from it, or even healing on its own. Add that into his incentive to prevent his career and stardom joining AI in circling the drain, and voila!

Well

Tim Grover is a conditioning genius. He has trained Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, as well as Andre Iguodala and Dwight Howard. Oh yeah, and a guy named Hakeem, who we all know was one of the best-conditioned centers of all time.

Basically Charlie Thomas accused Hakeem of faking an injury

Or at least exaggerating how big an injury it was. The Rockets played in Japan the next season and the two hashed it out on the long flight, bascially leading to two Rockets championships. Who’s to say if Hakeem really was “that” hurt. I know a lot of people in Houston (I was NOT one of them) sided with Charlie’s feelings on it at the time.

Interestingly enough, if you watch the Robert Horry draft video on Youtube, Horry comments that he’d really like to play with Hakeem, provided he doesn’t leave. Like ak2themax, I was only about three or four at the time, but my understanding is that Olajuwon was majorly pissed that the coaching staff and ownership didn’t believe him (it was also coupled with the fact that the Rockets had been floundering since Sampson’s injuries and trade and Hakeem didn’t think the team was doing enough to get better players).

Personally, I find it odd that so many people side with owners and coaches when rifts like this happen.

A lot of people just like to root for authority, no matter the conditions or circumstances. Also, they know that players come and go and the team (usually, Bud Adams) remains.

I remember thinking that Hakeem had always given everything he had, and if he said he was hurt, he almost certainly was. Perhaps given the techniques we have now, even over then, his sense of things would have been confirmed.

Someone made a pretty good post about this at CF

People hate injured players. Last summer Tmac was one of our big three, a building block for a championship. The anticipation was off the charts because people were expecting (hoping for?) a healthy Tmac. Now he’s an albatross because people are tired of year after year of injury.

Ours is not the only fanbase that does this. Grant Hill and Allan Houston were hated by their team’s fans despite being completely professional throughout their careers. Meanwhile, Kobe whines about his teammates not being good enough, demands a trade the next year, and yet everyone is all over his jock. If you’re good no one cares how you act. Tmac is no longer good, thus the hate.

Sounds about right. AKA “Sports fans are generally stupid.”

I think

There’s a good column lying in there. Disentangling emotions from one another. I’d hate for it to descend into annoying pop psych, but just what DOES happen when a team turns on a chronically injured player is interesting.

Actually, though, I think it goes deeper into us that that. In general, we turn on sick people. We don’t want to see them, or think about them. I had a friend who had cancer of the kidneys, he needed a transplant and was very sick. Already a slender guy, he turned into a stick. And while his family rallied around him, most of his friends disappeared.

Not to pat myself on the back, but this pissed me (and my wife) off. We tried to do more with him, when he felt able, and would cancel other things if he called and said he felt up to leaving home. And we got weird looks from others, out with him at restaurants, or the movies. Like we were going catch cancer from him or something.

Anyhow, he got the transplant and is doing well today. It was a close call, but he looks well, and is very active – but he doesn’t see a lot of his old “friends” anymore.

I guess TMac and I won’t be going out for pedicures anymore…

Im hoping he can get back to being at least a decent/good player cause i doubt he’ll be the old Mac but hey if he becomes a good player again we got no where to go but up, right???? Plus the trade deadline isnt until Feb maybe we get a look before then.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but me being upset with T-Mac isn’t because he got injured. Any player can get injured, so i don’t hold that against him. The heart and effort you put in to getting over your injuries is what concerns me. T-Mac’s heart has come into question on more than a few occasions.
