Wait, did we just send the cavalry to the D-League?
As I was watching the game last night with my girlfriend, we both got pretty disappointed. She was sad because the Rockets lost their 3rd straight at home and me because we lost a tough game against a team that looked like it was out of Tim Donaghy's book (did you see HOW MANY TIMES Denver went to the foul line?)
I've always loved Yao Ming, and next year Yao will solve a number of problems for this team.
1.) a guy to go to when the offense is starting to stall
2.) a defensive anchor who made Brooks, Scola, Landry and Co. that much better...not to mention he'll elevate Ariza next season as well I'm sure
3.) create easier offense for Brooks, Landry, Scola and Ariza next season, the 4 guys who've had to carry the offense this season
Yeah, we could use a #2 (well #1 option) this season, but for now, since Morey wants to just cash in his best chip (that would be T-Mac's carcass that I commonly refer to), I feel its time for the team to give more minutes to Jermaine Taylor who I believe is just the spark this team nee-
Oh, wait a minutes, we just sent him down to the D-League.
If you're not going to make that major shake-up trade, then why not let your other 2nd round draft pick, someone who you say has mad offensive skills, have a shot. Forget the deals out there. We're NOT getting Amare Stodamire as long as this teams defensive culture exists. There's no way we are going to get Chris Paul either (since New Orleans would NEVER trade him to a division rival). Andre Igoudala and Samuel Dalembert for McGrady sounds like a managable trade, but I feel we'd have to lose someone like Lowry or Budinger to make the move work. Caron Butler and Kevin Martin are not bad players, but they're sorta on the injury prone side. Chris Bosh and Joe Johnson are definite longshots and ANYONE who mentions a deal with the Bulls for John Salmons or any of the junk that is on that roster (Derrick Rose and MAYBE Joakim Noah are exceptions), well...just forget it.
Why not just let Taylor pick up some minutes. Battier's struggling, Ariza's struggling and Budinger hasn't been lighting it up lately. Give Jermaine a chance to show us what he can do on a night-to-night basis.
Thoughts?

You're missing the point here
We sent Taylor down to D-League so he could actually get playing time. When he’s ready, we bring him back up, and he’ll get playing time. Let him refine his game in the D-League for now.
Didnt we send Dorsey down for the same reasons,
only to see him dominate the D-League and get 0 playing time since he was called back up?? Either let them stay in the D-League for a long time or let them play in the League. All of this up and down, sporadic playing time cant be helping Dorsey and Taylor that much because when they come back up they ride the pine and get rusty again.
To all Houston sports fans, Houston is the 4th biggest city in America, there will be traffic on the way to your respective sports game. Come Early, Be Loud, Stay Late.

I think Adelman has really tightened up with this losing streak.
It might be the wrong reaction, but if things either start going great, we’ll see the back of the bench. If the continue to go lousy and we’re headed for lottery land (and assuming no Wall is possible – come on Evan Turner!), we’ll see them too. As things stand, nope.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
I'm looking at the Dorsey thing
And when things are going bad, it always seems like Rick tightens his strings on the rotation. We need fresh blood out there. We needed to give Jermaine Taylor a chance to show what he could do HERE. Yes, he can go to Rio and put up 20ppg and be the featured guy, but if we’re trying to salvage this season, wouldn’t it be better if he could get some minutes in the NBA rotation?

In Daryl Morey, Rick Smith and Ed Wade we (usually) trust.
Also, as much as we want it to be and have gotten our hopes up by a great first half, the play-offs really were a long shot for us this year. This year was about developement for next year. So I’m ok with sending the cavalry down and allowing Ariza to work through his struggles of adjusting to being a featured player and not a complementary piece.
Miss-placed Houstonian living and going to school in the wilderness of Wyoming. Fresno St. 28 - Wyoming 35 (2 OT)!!! Hands down best game I have ever been to.
Hopefully we didn't pick up Conroy
to trade away either Brooks or Lowry, though I did like Conroy’s game!
You never know.
There are 5-6 really covetable Rockets. Brooks and Lowry are two.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
Let me take a stab at those covetables
Brooks, Scola, Landry, Lowry, Budinger and Battier right?
I think we added Conroy because the Denver game sorta showed us that we only really have 2 PG’s on our roster. If you’re going to rot on Rick’s bench, you might as well be a 3rd PG than a 2nd SG I guess.

conroy is so underrated.
he was on the amazing Washington husky team with brandon roy. oh and by the way he is the all time leader in assists at WASH U (very impressive). he is like kyle lowry in having good handles, finishes strong at the basket, good defense, and might be even a better passer than lowry. plus he can shoot the 3 well. i can understand that most of you are mad about sending taylor down but the reason is plain and simple. he is physically or mentally unable to play defense. sure he has mad offensive skills, but we need some defense more than offense at this point in the season. conroy has never gotten a shot in the nba and this is a good decision to give him that shot.

Well, we have to make sure Adelman gives them playing time first
because players come in and out of the line-up and we still never get to see them play. We never know how they will respond in an actual game. Give them meaningful minutes, in the part of the game when it still matters, and let’s see them compete. Who knows? We may light a spark under one or all of them.
Taylor playing time!
Your singing my song brother! I have been saying this through out blogs in Red nation. This guy was a scorer in college…give him some min……lets see what he can do, The rumor amongst Rocket Mang. is that they want him in the D-league for JUST a few weeks to get NBA ready where he could play 20-30 minutes a game; I quest they are assuming we are going to loss a player or 2 in the Tmac deal? Things look a bit bleak at the moment…nothing a 4-6 game win streak couldn’t fix! Trying to keep the faith!!!! GO ROCKETS!!!!!
Adelman has played...
Brooks,Landry and Budinger as rookies. Plus Scola and Andersen. Obviously he hates rookies. Or Dorsey still has no clue. Considering he could be barely bothered to go to scorer’s table in a timely fashion so he could actually get in a game,I’m gonna go w/Dorsey’s clueless.
Scola and Andersen aren't really rookies
And with AB and Landry, they didn’t play massive minutes. Brooks and Landry played about 40 games each and they weren’t big minutes. I didn’t say Rick hated rookies, I just felt like there was a need for a shakeup. Dorsey looks clueless right now indeed…I can see him bouncing to another team and playing well.
Well Taylor, have fun in the Rio Grande.

Anything
Anything that will cut down on the minutes that Ariza wastes tossing up bricks would be fne with me. Send Ariza to the D-league where he can maybe learn to shoot and give his minutes to somebody else. My first choice for those minutes would not be Jermaine Taylor. I would give the minutes to the $23 milliion dollar man.
