Acceptable Trade?
this is just an Idea.....
Rockets trade Yoa Ming and J. Taylor to Washington for Gilbert Arenas and JaVale McGee
I know we add 4 yrs. to the books but we get a more legit point guard that in my opinion we need i like aaron but by the looks of things were gonna have trouble resigning both aaron and yao well be set in our back court and we could work a deal to trade aaron to get another big and still have lowry to back up arenas plus mcgee is a decent big that we could use.
Now i know trading yao would suck because hes been with us his entire career but the team needs to mix up some things in order for us to get back to a contending team.
Thoughts?

Unacceptable
1.) Heading in to a new CBA and you don’t want Arenas’s 20 mil for the next 4 years on your books especially considering there is talk of a possible hard cap or salary cap reduction.
2.) Not 100% that the salary numbers work since Arenas makes more than Yao and Taylor makes less than McGee I believe (Considerably).
3.) You haven’t seen Arenas play all year, have you? The guy has the right attitude but his playing style has gone completely sheepish and his shot isn’t worth a damn anymore.
4.) Washington loves them some Javale McGee. Seriously, this guy is their future, they aren’t letting him go. Same with Andre Blatche and John Wall. Between the three of them they have one hell of a core going forward.
5.) Houston won’t trade Yao. Even if he can’t contribute on the court he can contribute to them financially. Not to overstate the Chinese market thing but when you have the guy that opened up the NBA to the east, you tend not to let that go.
I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
Never said it was
Hint the question mark at the end of the title?
First, I think i said i know we add 4 yrs. to our books and noone including David Stern knows whats gonna happen with the new CBA.
Second, the salary numbers match even straight up. You don’t know your numbers do you?
Third, Arenas has not played well because he has not been “freed” I guess you could say for 2 reasons…. John Wall and still being punished for his gun charge. plus he’s a better point than Brooks on one leg. (My Opinion)
Fourth, How is McGee the future over Wall? I’m pretty sure they would like the fact they get 17 Million off the books this off season to try and add someone to be Walls sidekick. they can keep Blatche were set at every position but our Centers.
Finally number 5….. I agree but a winning team wont need yao to help out financially this is basketball not PPV , we need players who are gonna contribute night in and night out, Dont get me wrong I love yao, but i love the rockets more and if it takes moving him to better ourselves to get back to our glory days……. so be it.

You're digging really hard
You’re making the assumption that I was criticizing you rather than enumerating why I disagreed with it and why it’s not a smart move that either team would do.
1.) Yea, we add 4 years, 20 million dollars a year to the payroll. No one knows how the new CBA will pan out but I can guarantee you there’s not a GM in the league pants on head retarded enough to say that’s a great deal and worth taking on 80 million dollars hanging on a contract to shuffle a large expiring deal around.
2.) There’s me knowing my numbers then there’s me giving two shits to check yours. I didn’t make the proposal, you did. All I said was on the surface I’m not sure if it works due to a gap of about 3-4 million annually in what Arenas makes as opposed to Yao and I’m pretty sure JT is significantly lower in pay grade than JaVale.
3.) Arenas is not playing well because he’s a man who has knees that have been operated on extensively over the last two years. You don’t live in DC and you don’t watch him. The guy when he is on the court is aloof and passing up shots he used to take. He’s nowhere near as aggressive as he used to be, and funny enough, Washington still loves him and Ted Leonsis likes him.
4.) Did I say McGee was the future over wall or did I say that it’s a trio of players that is their future? Read the entire statement before you shoot from the hip and make yourself look like an ass.
5.) Again, revenues and sponsorship deals the Rockets get for their relation to Yao Ming virtually precludes him from a trade. Your inability to appreciate it means you are incapable of fully fathoming how much of his value is tied in to marketing and the likes.
Also, checking out your later comments, I think you need to lay off the glue you’re huffing. Just because Arenas was suspended for having a gun in the locker room (With hand guns banned in DC) doesn’t mean the issue was solely that. He did violate the law but it’s the fact that he drew a fire-arm on a team mate that was the problem. By your logic the people of Texas love them some hostile stand offs with potential assault with a deadly weapon too, eh? If someone were to walk up to you, draw a gun and wave it at your chest you’d be 100% fine and not appalled or disgusted whatsoever, right? And again, the city of DC actually cheers for Arenas when he’s on the court. They have a soft spot for the man.
Reading that little rant just gave me an impression of a person desperately swinging around trying to hit whatever’s nearby so he has some justification for his approach (The Vick comment especially). I’m going to rest easy knowing that the only way Martin is shipped out is if we say “F*ck this plan.” And go right in to rebuilding mode. He’s too consistent and in partnership with Scola he’s all this team really has pulling the line until Aaron and Yao get back.
I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
Dude you in such denial on the yao situatuation its just sad that you cant understand that we should get whatever value we can for him but the fact is we all have our own opinion on what should happen another fact that stands is we can post all of our ideas and it still wont change a thing that the rockets have planned. I personally think there gonna ride it iut and try another free agent run with the money they can get off of yaos contract. But what do i know im not the GM but then again neither are you…..

So your response to me
is the equivalent of covering your ears and screaming “LALALALALALALALALALA!”? I put forth why I think management doesn’t move Yao. It’s not denial of his condition or what he brings, it’s acknowledgement of the financial options he helps to contribute. Your inability to wrap your head around that is in no way, shape, or form, a denial of any situation on my part.
I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
Washington won't do it
In quality, you are asking for too much. Washington has a solid core. Sure, they would like to rid themselves on Arenas but not that much. Besides, Arenas would be (hopefully) and upgrade for the current team, then next year or two … but the Rockets can kiss it goodbye. Nothing is going to happen this season without a healthy Yao. Arenas might help the Rockets move down in the lottery by winning another 2-3 games .. but what good is that? If you trade with Washington .. or any of the weaker teams .. try to get some draft picks. The only hope for the Rockets is the draft … get a lot of picks and get an entirely new team. Scola and Martin are good but they will be too old by the time the Rockets are good again. So trade them too. Trade the entire team and just get some picks. Play any dogs you can get to finish out this season.
McGee has a lot of potential
that’s why the Wiz won’t trade him. And I don’t think any of us wanna see Arenas in a Rockets jersey, not the guy I wanna root for. Plus, his contract is just awful. In my opinion, anyone on our roster could be traded with the exception on Yao and Martin. Yao is such a unique situation, I don’t think anyone knows what the future holds for him.

You mean you dont wanna see arenas in a rockets jersey. Not the guy you want to root for? you must not be from houston cuz atleast 1 out of every 3 people here have a gun, including some people on the rockets team have one so pick and choose where you want but you just better hope the person who shows you there gun is not loaded like agent zeros. You must not like Michael Vick either. And if the right deal comes Martin can be traded.

Just the one. If I have two in one week i'll let you know.

i like that you are thinking...but this just isn't the trade...
and everyone else, STFU, everyone has their thoughts and opinions, let them speak. What type of nonsense is this. For instance, joshsm07, why the hell would you tell this person to “do bodily harm to [themselves]” really, that’s ridiculous and you should be ashamed. Just a simple no would do. I’m pretty sure none of you would talk to your family like that, so why should this be any different? We are a nation, we are tolerant of everybody else (even the jazzholes…strike that…not the jazholes) but you get the point? hopefully…
ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know
Chris Crocker posted here. You’ve had some pretty ballsy statements on here before. A simple “Too far” to Josh would have sufficed. Everyone else put forward the reasons why it sucked as an idea or just said no. Taken further it’s not even established if the Rockets NEED to trade or be healthy.

Who are you to tell me what I can and can not say? No one
I said " do bodily harm to yourself" because I didn’t want to use the common phrase “kill yourself”. It doesn’t really mean kill yourself or do harm against oneself its just a saying, usually meaning that was stupid or a bad idea and if you think its more than that’s your problem. For example, someone tells you something and your’e surprised, shocked or in disbelief and you tell them to “get out of here” are you really telling that person to leave? Most likely not, it’s just a saying used to convey a general message or feeling. And me and my friends and family use such phrases all the time; get out of here, kill yourself, kick rocks and etc. And i’m not ashamed whatsoever. YOU should be ashamed for making such a big deal out of nothing. If I wanted a lesson on being tolerance i’d watch Family Guy Season Episode 8. So no, I don’t get the point.

I don't mind discussing trades, espically since we all can feel heat coming down on the rockets.
But what are the college prospects coming up next year? Are there any elite talents about to come up. Say a John Wall type?
With our picks and obvious nosedive for the lottery I figure we can draft a first rounder or two.
I have looked at alot of options for the Rockets as far as trades and I haven’t been able to come up with a deal that makes sense for both teams. I don’t see us getting Iggy or Granger. I think Melo is more probable but it would cost us alot.

i say dont trade draft picks just yet
look our season looks bad an i think if by trade deadline we dont pick it up dont trade draft picks shoot maybe we’ll get a top 3 pick and that will be worth it instead of getting a andre igoudala or whoever and it doesnt work out. plus on yao i say if we can get value trade him but i know we wont beacuse of money, an so hopefully he comes back next year healthy with a huge discount an have him as a backup. morey is smart so knowing him and seeing how our season is going he’ll probably try and trade our young talent and expiring conracts first beacuse he knows we might not do great the rest of the way and hopefully get a top 5 pick. But i hope we do pick it up thats just my opinion
