Around SBN: Yu Darvish Diagnosed With Mariners Fever

In contrast to Darko's comments yesterday, Yao's doctors are apparently very pleased with how Yao's foot is looking, and Yao thinks he might get to see some more playing time in January.

So who are you going to believe - Darko Milicic or Yao Ming and his doctors?

It's about time we let him play back to back

But please don’t freakin’ announce how many minutes he’s gonna play. Keep the opponents guessing.

I dunno, Darko is pretty reliable.

I’m glad to hear the news about Yao. After reading the Darko thing I wondered what was going on, but decided to ignore it until someone with more insight than Darko spoke on the subject of Yao’s health.

As expected. He's only progressing. He's only looked better.

I was assuming this would happen eventually, but more like after the trade deadline. And I’m pretty sure they’ll up his minutes by the trade deadline, and eventually the playoffs.

The more he plays

the more we will win. I like. NBA Finals here we come!

Good.

That means that post-All star break Yao should be back to his usual 21 and 12 self. Hopefully.

Anybody see what the Pacers did tonight?

144 points! Let’s hope we can stop all that Friday

They were a missed buzzer beater away from 20-20 in the quarter

If Dunleavy plays like that all year, they could be slightly better than bad.. I do have to give them props, they made Denver look stupid on D.

i take Dr. over Darko

only because he’s just not so creditable without blonde look.

For what’s worth, it’s not that his not talented, Larry Brown really did a shitty job of develop young talents. With proper mentoring, he could be something more skilled and really worth the $20 million contract.

As for Yao, I would rather seeing his play time not restrict to 24 min per game thing instead of the back-to-back games.

don't bully me, i am from the D(etroit)!!!

Fucking Heat

Did anyone just see that game on NBATV? They blew a 22-pt lead and lost in OT while giving up 46 to Milsap. I hate the Jazz

I don't like the Jazz much either...

But next time Milsap gets a knock on his door from Mormons, they’ll be there not to spread the word, but to receive it because he’s now God of Utah after his performance tonight.

by Nobody is Better Than Jordan on Nov 9, 2010 9:36 PM CST up reply actions

Fuck that!

I hate the Jazz as well but damnit I hate the Heat with their overrated asses. I cheered for Utah this game. Ban me if you want but i know i aint the only one who feels this way about it.

I'm sorry, that's stupid. Actually I'm not sorry.

Last I checked, miami is in the east. They can win all they want, unless they play against us. I don’t care about anyone in the east unless were playing them during the season, or the finals for that matter.

You're looking at it wrong.

I want the Three Banditos to fail.
I want the Jazz to fail.

I’ve been hating the Jazz since forever.
I’ve been hating the Three Mouseketeers since summer.

In all, I hate the Jazz more. Much more. But I hate people talking about 73 wins for Miami (who don’t have a PG, don’t have a C, and have Bosh sort of drifting around aimlessly.).

I think tonight there was NO BAD RESULT. We couldn’t lose on this one. Either the Jazz lose, which is great, or the Heat lose, which is funny.

(who don’t have a PG, don’t have a C, and have Bosh sort of drifting around aimlessly.)

But that’s what makes them so profoundly interesting! How can you hate such a huge “fuck you!” to convention?

I mean, it’s funny when they lose, too, but is there no room for ambiguity? I both love and hate sleep, so why can’t we both love and hate Miami?

In contrast, the Jazz are just wrong. Their fans are just painful to look at, listen to, or think about; their stars have all been dicks since Malone and Stockton; and Jerry Sloan is a homophobic asshole who thinks it’s still 1989. There is just a fundamental wrongness to them. They should not be.

Same goes for the Titans.

by Only_A_Lad on Nov 10, 2010 1:20 AM CST up reply actions

You make a compelling argument.

And I do admit to being fascinated by Miami. Once all the talk about 75 wins dies out, I’ll calm down.

And yes, the Jazz are an abomination, but there’s no getting rid of them, it seems.

In the end, an asteroid didn’t descend and destroy both teams, so I’m disappointed.
I think that is fair enough.

ME TOO!

The constant felating of the Heat by the media has made me sick to my stomach. Any time they lose is a good day for me. As long as in the long run, both the Jazz and Heat fail, I will be a happy man.

Your minds are obviously clouded

II – Thou shalt have no team behind the Jazz

I generally don't agree with you OaL

But you’re absolutely right. Never root against the Rockets, never EVER root for the Jazz. Or Mavericks. Or Lakers.

So glad I called a loosening of the minute

limits in the offseason. I knew he’d be back with good progress. Thank God we’re loosening up this arbitrary BS of his minutes so the team can actually develop chemistry with the big fella.

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.

by BD34 on Nov 10, 2010 8:53 AM CST reply actions

It might be bullshit, you're right.

But it’s necessary. I feel like we can seed anywhere in the playoffs, and if Yao is playing at 100%, then we can beat anyone in the playoffs. Chemistry will come, in time, and that’s what the regular season is for. But the real issue has always been, getting everyone healthy and prepared for the playoffs. Like Boston last year.

by basketball is cool on Nov 10, 2010 11:48 AM CST up reply actions

I'm not so sure about chemistry

Given Morey is always looking to trade. We haven’t had a single season where we haven’t traded a player in what, 7 years? This team is a revolving door, no wonder our consistency is shot. We’re not good enough to coast and coddle to get everyone healthy. We’re not the Spurs that can coast through half a season, turn it on, then hit the playoffs at full force. We need that effort. We need that work.

Limiting his minutes was to safeguard against wear and tear injuries, not fluke injuries. Tonight, Yao received a fluke injury. Something you cannot guard against. The issue at hand was who knows what more minutes would have done, improved conditioning? Deteriorated his body? Doesn’t matter now but fuck me if he would have been out there more than 24 minutes a night and more than 50% of back to backs he might have influenced some W’s.

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.

by BD34 on Nov 10, 2010 11:37 PM CST up reply actions

We've never had this roster strength, and we've never been healthy going into the playoffs.

We’ve addressed the former, now it’s just a question of the latter: Is it possible we come into the playoffs at 100%? I sure hope so.

by basketball is cool on Nov 10, 2010 11:50 AM CST up reply actions

Show me one team that

has gone into and through the playoffs at 100% health and I’ll show you a 1 in a million team.

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
