Just tuned into local talk radio and the host and callers seem to think Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier are on their way out of town. The thinking is that Terence Williams was brought into replace Shane and Lowry's emergence means so long AB. I've got some mixed feelings but mostly concern if it's true. I think Shane by far is our smartest and most poised leader on the team. He seems to be able to get through to all the young guys and is the leader this team needs to overcome tough times. He was the who seemed to really unite the team after the Yao news. His play in Sac town and GS was gutsy and to me he's the vital "Horry-esque" cog that keeps the machine going. I wish this guy was Kevin Martin. I wish Martin was the leader but that just doesn't seem to be who he is. I really believe it's Battier. Also, I don't trust T will as far as I can throw him. Guy seems like a classic knuckle head and underachiever. Sure, he might be able to leap out of the building but do you really trust that guy yet? I'd keep Battier and do my best to jettison Chase Budinger. That guy seems to have regressed the most, especially on defense where he's been pitiful.
As far as Brooks, I just don't know. I mean, the guy has been AWFUL on defense. It's hard to argue to keep a guy who can only get it going on offense. But then again, he's so much fun and so unique and so gutsy I guess it'd be hard to get used to the fact he would not be a rocket.
What does everyone hear think? If we're going to trade anybody/anything I hope it's Jeffries, Ish smith, Budinger and our first round draft choices. Or even T Will.
