Rockets "not impressed" by offers for Yao
Adrian Wojnarowski via twitter remarks that "So far, Rockets aren't impressed with offers rolling into them for Yao Ming. Still, there are several weeks for teams to get serious."
Not surprisingly, teams are likely trying to dump their garbage on the Rockets like they did last year in the McGrady talks. We'll see if Morey can turn Yao into gold like he did with McGrady last year.
Update: Woj continues to say "Rockets want combo of prospect, picks and expiring $ for Yao. Teams can get $8M in savings via insurance/chance to re-sign him at cut rate."

I wonder how that 8m savings works
Yao is making 17.6 million this year. If by the time he gets traded, the Rockets have paid half his salary (8.8million) then does that mean the other team only has to dish out $800K after the insurance money kicks in?

I think it's something like that
It kicks in after like 41 games missed or something.
I don't usually plan out my days because the word "premeditation" gets thrown around a lot in courts today.
Basically
Insurance pays 80% of his salary after he misses 41 games. The 8 million figure is a little high, but it would be a big savings.

Also
By stepping back and looking at the title of the write up for it, I can’t help but giggle. I mean, I’d be impressed if someone offered me Lebron James and Dwyane Wade for him, but young talent and draft picks wouldn’t impress me. Unless that young talent’s name is Derrick Favors or Demarcus Cousins. The impress factor just made me giggle a bit.

I think
The Rockets swing 2 ‘major’ deals by the deadline. One moving Yao for picks and maybe a bad contract, and another moving Jeffries and possibly Battier for an impact player where we trade the picks we acquire in the first move and agree to take back an ugly contract.
Wafer . . . again. (Marv Albert, HOU v. CLE Feb 2009)

deal with the Heat/Knicks
Trade Jeffries and Battier to the Heat and get Mike Miller, Joel Anthony and Udonis Haslem or Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf, and Winston Chandler…
