Around SBN: Seahawks Trade for TE Kellen Winslow

Gilbert Arenas?

I know the Wizards have gone on record saying that they are not willing to trade Gilbert, but would you (and who) trade for him? He's a hell of a player, and I know he has been in some hot water lately with the whole gun thing and some of the silly stuff at the beginning of the season but I think the Rockets could really use his talents. Hes a prolific scorer, and I've seen him take over games instantly (I'm from the DC area). Arenas can close out games, and I've seen him hit enough game winners to say that he is a clutch player. The biggest problem with the trade is Arenas' HUGE contract and we were to trade for him it would cost us a lot.

Just a thought, let me know what you think.

The contract

Is just to horrendous to even think about. Unless your the Nets,or Knicks.

The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

Not even the Knicks

I think Dwyer has said that the Wizard are more then willing to trade Arenas for just Curry’s fat ass, but the Knicks have no interest for obvious reasons.

Yes, if we could have the magic time machine Arenas before the injuries and all the other stuff...

We could set the way back machine to 6 years ago, and get McGrady, too.

Arenas’ deal is the single worst contract in the NBA, and that’s saying something.

I would take McGrady over Arenas

Given what they make right now, their contracts, I would take the current McGrady before I would take Arenas. You only take on something like Arenas if you feel it is that one piece missing to push you over the top. Arenas isn’t that piece. The Rockets are missing several pieces, most importantly, Yao Ming. Arenas couldn’t fix that if he came free of charge.

No

Rashard Lewis has the worst contract. He is stealing money. He is getting 20+ mil a year to shoot 3’s at 6’10 and he does not do much else at all.

I dunno.

At least Rashard is playing in games, not toting an arsenal around and getting suspended.

why would anyone ever trade away a holo Charizard..especially 1st edition.

I found 83 cents in my backyard after last night's party..I'm not returning it until the owner describes what coins were lost in EXACT change. -Willie White's status

Depends

If I thought that Yao were returning full strength then I would have hopes of being a contender. No Yao, no championship hopes period. So, if Yao comes back full strength then I would spend the money on Arenas. Arenas is a player, a guy who is hard to stop. He is better than any player on the Rockets with the possible exception of Scola and, of course, Yao if Yao is healthy. Yes, I think Arenas is better than Martin. But how do you get Arenas? I just think that having one of the all-time great C’s means you should go for it. Those C’s win championships .. at least most of them do. But I don’t think Yao is going to come back full strength so I would not take on Arena’s bad contract. Better to blow the whole thing up and start over.

The contract.

Its too much of a killer. And as far as injuries go I think Arenas, is playing at least somewhat close to his old form. T-mac is a shell of his former self. And he is 28 so I would argue he is in his prime, his states aren’t too shabby this year. I agree with Roy, Arenas is probably a better player than Martin. He’s got a lot of finess, which I really like about him. But i think in the end Xiane is right, his contract is way to bloated for anyone to take on without trading a decent chunk of the team.

Simple answer. No.

Arenas’s contract far exceeds whatever utility he might have. He’s not what he used to be on offense (I’m from Washington DC), nor will he ever be. The contract in and of itself is roughly 20 million per year when we’re entering a CBA that will most likely screw with the cap figure, possibly impose a hard cap, and change the way players salaries are structured. If you’re an intelligent GM you don’t pull the trigger from a fiscal point of view and let Washington deal with the sins of their old contracts, you don’t bail them out and bone yourself over.

Again, for the millionth time, Houston’s issue is getting stops, not putting up points.

I'm always right, this isn't conjecture, merely statement of fact.
