Perfect title for what I hope will be a great trade for the Rockets. Onto our winners and losers of the deal:
Winners:
1.) Kevin Martin: you go from being second fiddle in Sacramento to top billing in Houston for the next 2-3 months. You are reunited with Adelman, given a PG who does NOT hog the action, and a pair of wings who will cover the oppositions best offensive guy on the other end. You came out well here.
2.) Sergio Rodriguez: Spanish chocolate, you're Aaron Brooks's backup for the next week or so. I think that Kyle Lowry will be out a little longer than expected, so look for Rodriguez to razzle-dazzle with some of that Lowry flare.
3.) David Andersen: Congratulations, your 18 point effort in Utah must have endeared Morey to make this move. You just became the first big off the bench now. So don't wimp up and go out and make your city proud.
4.) Yao Ming: You got yourself a pretty good wing player who will no doubt defer to you next year. So go be an NBA center and DOMINATE next season when you come back from foot surgery next year. 2011 is shaping up to be a nice Rockets season, with a team led by Yao, Brooks and K-Mart
5.) Bryan Cook: Hey Bryan, meet Kenny Thomas and Hilton Armstrong. At least one of them will get playtime before you do...but that doesn't mean you can't strike up a friendship/decent bench conversation with the other guy.
Losers:
1.) Carl Landry: hate to see him go. This guy has more hustle than anything you could ask for. But often to get something good you have to give away something too. The truth is, while Landry is a better scorer, there's still a reason Luis Scola is the starter at PF. Rebounding and Defensive play do not go unnoticed Carl. Have fun becoming a 20ppg scorer in Sacramento, and I hope you and Tyreke Evans do something good there, but you went from the penthouse to the outhouse.
2-4.) Shane Battier, Trevor Ariza and Chase Budinger: you guys will see your minutes cut down. Martin's getting his minutes (32-36), but the remaining 3 will not. Of the 3, Shane's the cerebral guy, Trevor's the athletic guy, and Chase's the best offensive guy. Look for across the board minute decreases, particular with Ariza and Battier.
5.) Tracy McGrady: Did you think I forgot about you buddy? This turns into a "win" if and only if you are either A.) sent to New York or B.) released. Until then, have fun sulking in Sacramento.
Your thoughts guys?
