We just gave up Cris B. for Kevin M. What you think about your trade now?

In getting "K-Mart" we gave up C. Bosh. We nolonger have cap room for any of the big name players next year. THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!

Here you go Kings take Landry best 6th man in the league and top 10 on productivity plus a little cash for your injury prone star.

Oh Knicks.  I didn't forget. Here is a little cap room so you can get one of the superstars we wanted. Instead give us a draft so that we can develope a Superstar. We do it all the time. Get back at us in 5 years and we will give him to you like we did Landry and he can play with the superstar we were going to sign over there. Have fun can i do anything else for you! Would you like Yao too?

No cursing in title. No pirated material, such as links to online game streams. Do not cut/paste entire sections of content from other websites. Thanks.

Wow

Some call the waaaaaambulance. You are probably the only person trolling these internets that think the Rockets got hosed. I would respond with a more detailed reply about how Morey bent over the Knicks AND got a stud like K. Mart in return for essentially one player but 1) this website has done a great job doing it for me and 2) I don’t feed the trolls.

This better be a joke

lets Face it, how legit was our chance at Bosh anyways?

Everybody cleared cap room for L/W/B/A sweepstakes

What real chance were we gonna get of landing one of these top-tier FA?

This in concrete returns. Saved us cap room, got us “Knick” lottery pick(whatever, NY’s never gonna land LBJ), one of the most efficient shooters for the past 5 years to take shots away from Ariza, Jordan Hill aint a bad consolation price

Sure I worry about Kmart’s injuries woe, sure I will miss Landry

please, this by no means sucks.

by NVP on Feb 19, 2010 10:44 AM CST reply actions

Even with Chris Bosh, if we don't have a legit SG, we still suck!

We build our team now and try our luck in the FA wars this summer. How many teams cleared cap space? Eight? We just saw how good Morey is at making trades. He said we have more pieces to offer on sign-and-trades because no way would Cleveland, Miami, Toronto give up their stars without asking for anything in return.

New Rule:

Don’t make a post about trades if you don’t know how trades work in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement. Don’t make a post about free agency if you have no idea how the salary cap works. Don’t complain about “giving up Chris Bosh” if you don’t know a fucking thing about the Rockets’ cap situation.

In other words, before you make a post, please at least think it through. If you can muster that much effort, please also do a teeny tiny little bit of research before hitting that “post” button.

You know, so we can trade them when they become superstars later;)

no worries

he just unhappy Morey couldnt get Lebron for Brian Cook straight up. The crazy thing is I wouldnt be suprised if DM could pull something similar….

by coldiron0727 on Feb 19, 2010 6:16 PM CST reply actions

How sure are you we could land Bosh?

Morey did they right thing. A number of team are in the hunt for 4 top free agents and only 4 teams could end up laughing, The rest can cry.

If Houston didnt make that trade and didnt get any of those top free agents this summer, You go blame the GM for not doing anything.

Get real buddy. Morey did whats best for this team and absolutely sure that he could get what he wants rather than waiting for his luck to land those top FA’s

by godyrock on Feb 19, 2010 10:24 PM CST reply actions

If anything, we drastically increased our odds of landing Bosh. We were never going to be able to sign him, but now we have some assets (Hill, 2011 pick, 2012 pick, Jeffries expiring) that we can use to acquire Bosh in a sign and trade. For anyone with an understanding of the NBA salary cap and free agency rules, our chances of getting Bosh just drastically increased (not to mention Houston is probably a more attractive destination now that it gained a legit SG).

by seanbergmanrules on Feb 20, 2010 6:11 PM CST up reply actions

This is a good point.

The Rockets are more loaded with assets after this trade than before.

I still can’t believe it.

How would you feel if Rox sign-n-traded for Bosh

Bosh tells Raptors he’s leaving.
Rockets offer package of Battier,Jeffries,Andersen, the rights to Llull, whoever the Rockets just drafted, the 2011 First and one of the 2012 picks.Pretty darn attractive to a team that might see him walk for nothing.

Bosh has said in past he prefers being a PF.
He’s also supposed to want to be “The Man”. In Houston,Yao,while being the face of the team, was willing to let McGrady be the man and Kevin Martin accepted taking a back seat to Artest and Evans.

by Tisbee on Feb 20, 2010 6:51 PM CST reply actions

In order to get Bosh, which CAN happen but doubtful cause he's said he doesn't want to play in Texas,

forget the whole salary cap thing cause its just getting old already, it’ll have to be the same as the Landry situation in that we’ll have to lose something to get something & do a SIGN & TRADE! What Morey can do is trade salary. Ok this means we are exchanging Battiers, Scola, & whoever elses salary we trade to the Raptors, who will resign Bosh then trade him, in this situation all we are doing is exchanging players but staying roughly with the same salary in dollars as we would have but instead of Battier & Scola & whoever in their place you put Bosh. So now do you see how we CAN have the cap room to get Bosh? I’m glad everyone seems to understand that we CAN’T sign him straight up but in a sign & trade we can definitely get him. Now it’s gonna be up to him to agree on a sign & trade but theres a chance it can happen. We almost had Amare & I guess that shows Daryl isn’t as down on him as we thought so if not Bosh perhaps Amare!? It’s obvious in Daryls press conference after the trade that he IS going to go after another star & I’d say 90% its going to be a PF (Bosh then Amare) because if I’m right I read he believes in the “3 stars to win a championship rule”, can’t say I blame him. We now have our badly needed SG in Martin we have an awesome PG, hopefully Yao can get to 100% by the playoffs next season, you add that with Arizas slashing to the basket & defensive pressure & throw in Bosh or Amares scoring & tell me thats not a championship contending team? Of course theres teams that can make better offers but noone saw the 3 team trade coming so I’m sure Morey has another ace up his sleeve to acquire an all star PF.

Me against the world (I LOVE IT)

Didn’t think I would have to argue 20 people. There seems to be only a few statements that sound intelligent enough to argue. For everyone with the responses of "tard" or "moron" I am going to need a better response in order to entertain you. If you argue with a fool a person from a distance doesn’t know who is who. Get at me when your vocabulary grows past a comeback a 2 year old or "tard" can come up with.

Anyone who said what where our chances, that was a good point. To be honest I put that title for shock factor (more responses). I think our chances at a top tier player were pretty good. Probably not Wade or Lebron but, Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, or Amare were pretty good since the teams clearing cap space are nowhere near the caliber the Rockets are. (New jersey, Chicago, Minnesota, Clippers) These are the teams that I think we can make a more attractive offer.

Ok I spelled Chris wrong, WTF is he ur boyfriend, pull his piece out your mouth and tell him I apologize.

Please explain your vision of the salary cap. Math in general says we traded 25M to be up next year vs 3M being up next year. We only lost Cap space for this year. And what did that do b/c we are still paying a Lux tax. The nba cap is just over 57M. It is expected to go down to around 53M next season.

I really hope K Martin is what we need. But, He is injury prone and has only had 2 seasons with above 70 games played. His lowest was 45 and last year was 51. So if you were tired of T-Mac you just got another but half the talent. This guy is no more of a 40 point scorer than Brooks or Landry. If he was that good then NY would be pissed he was gone. Check there site, there are more post about loosing Landry then there are about loosing Martin. I saw one. (that also goes to show I am not a Knicks fan they are happy with this trade)

I am glad we got the protected draft pics, but I would rather take a chance and get a super star than trade Landry for some "might be’s". Lets face it how much better did we get with this? Maybe we get knocked out in the 7th game 1st round instead of the 6th. If you want a championship this was not the move for it.

As for the "sign and trade" I think you are 2 of the 3 people worth talking to. You are right and I am aware of it. My question, don’t you think we could have just traded Mac for a pic or two. And had a more attractive sign and trade to offer? We would still have Dorsey, Landry, Scola, Draft Pics, and Battier. Could we not swing a sign and trade with that? Which is probably what we would have had to do anyway we just would have had more breathing room in loosing Macs 22M.

by B.Sands on Feb 22, 2010 2:20 PM CST reply actions

We cant afford amare, joe johnson, or bosh. they all get the exact same salaries. same reason we cant sign any of the other big time players.

Spelling chris wrong just shows your ignorance which makes it alot harder for people to take you seriously. And i love how you complain about what people say about you. then turn around and do the same exact thing in response to them. really now that kind of response isnt appropriate or appreciated here. go pull that shit somewhere else.

Math – add up salaries. we cant sign a player to make us go over the cap. the reason tmacs expiring contract does not mean we have 20 mil to spend is that we are already well over the cap.

we wernt tired of tmacs ability. i would love to have the tmac that won 2 scoring titles. the tmac we had didnt seem liek that guy. we were tired of tmacs complaining. martin’s personality( from what ive seen so far) is nothing like that at all. he seems like a great team guy.
Also again Martin isnt from ny possibly explaining the lack of posts bemoaning his absence. If you do check the kings website there way more posts complaining about the trade than tmac posts on this website.
The injuries have been all in different places, he doesnt have any1 injury thats keeps coming back which is always a positive sign and means long term they wont mean as much.

losing landry hurts but those picks could potentially bring the rockets alot of talent.
Martin brings more to this team than landry.
no one is expecting us to win the championship this year. its all about bringing in the peices about getting it done next year once yao comes back.

Didnt you just talk about how picks are useless and not worth it. so are you now saying we should have just traded tmac for 2 draft picks and not gotten hill, and several of the other players we got? pretty much all those players you just mentioned are still with the rockets. not having dorsey wont make or break any deals. Landry is a bit of a tough loss but whatever martin does more for us. Scola and battier(still on the rockets from what i remember). we also have more picks now.
and no we wouldnt have had more breathing room with tmacs contract he would have just expired and we would have lost any and all value his contract had at all.

this trade made us a much more dangerous team. Landry was good yes, but martin can bring us more. Landry scores in the post which is a high efficency area anyway. Martin does it from outside which is much harder to find. Landry can be replaced hopefully by hill or one of our draft picks or summer trade its really not as hard to replace.

next time you post something try to read up your facts first. Also using logic does help.

Damn

this thing really needs an edit button

by AlDe2356 on Feb 22, 2010 7:38 PM CST up reply actions

ummmm

1 Kevin Martin didn’t play for the Knicks, he played for the Kings. You fool.

2. Our cap space also has to go to other free agents ON OUR TEAM (ie Lowry, Scola).

3. The Rockets organization did extensive medical tests before the trade. Do you honestly think they would spend the ~36 MILLION dollars on someone if they didn’t think he was going to be able to play?

4. This is just annoying – it’s THEY’RE not there.

5. SIGN-AND-TRADE: If Toronto realizes they’re going to get NOTHING for Bosh, they could do a sign-and-trade this summer for him, ,and a team giving up a player of that caliber typically wants serviceable vets, and DRAFT PICKS. Hence, we are in a position of power.

6. Let’s look at the markets / teams that are free agent players this season. Out of them, Miami (if Wade stays) and Chicago are really the only attractive landing spots, and those teams can’t just buy every player on the market. NY has 3(?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?) players under contract for next season. If they signed 2 max contracts, they could only afford the veterans min for THE REST OF THEIR ROSTER. Stars want money and rings ,and you’re not gonna get them with a weak-ass supporting cast. Chicago is attractive because of Noah and Rose, and Bosh would fill a HUGE need for them, but that’s a big IF ,just as it would’ve been for us. Miami is the other possibility, and the most likely scenario, which is more attractive than TX anyway.

Wafer . . . again. (Marv Albert, HOU v. CLE Feb 2009)

But...but...but...

Lebron and Wade will sign for pennies because they will get endorsement they wouldn’t have before! Or something. Well, that’s the argument that I’ve seen Knicks fans make when I point that out.
BTW, New York has four players, but yeah, your point still stands.

and the only way they can get 2 max contracts is to not resign david lee

do not want to be that team come summer when not only do they not get any free agents
they lose the only all star they had…

Im excited

I could care less if the Rockets win and thats this is the first year ive ever said anything like that. I could also care less about the 4 big FA. Id rather have Carlos Boozer (Forgive Me) over Bosh and Amare. Less money same production. Anyways, We’re not making it to the playoffs this year and if we do, then we wont get past the Lakers. Im cool with a top ten pick. I think this same team with a back up center and Yao back could do damage. Cole Aldrich baby and we are set. He will be a beast on the boards and defense.

This is what I hoped for

I have NO problem at all with people talking trash to me. Actually its all a part of "cooler talk" Is that not what this is? To tell you the truth I enjoy it; just think it should be done better. Hard to take seriously and ignorant, hmmmm. I would have guessed it meant I can’t spell well (which would be true) or even illiterate (which would have been a better joke). I don’t plan on defending shyt talk or spellin anymre. I cud cur less bout it.

And the last report I saw said we had 40M tied up in Salary (prior to the trade). So for that reason I would have liked to keep Tracy. And trade off other players for 2011 pics or expiring contracts. Or just do a sign and trade. If you don’t think it would work that’s fine. But saying Martin is the savior of the Rockets is false because the Championship will depend on Yao getting better. Not on getting Martin.

Yes, his injuries where different places, but you would be ignorant to ignore the consistency of an injury almost every year.

Oh yea, I didn’t say anything about Mac being traded. I said their site had more Landry comments than Martin. I am not sure where you went.

1) Your right I said NY glad you caught it. At the same time let’s use common sense I am sure you could figure out what I meant. In addition I am not perfect.
2) Yes, it is but if we had Landry we would be able to release him or Scola. I like them both but if you are trying to get a superstar you gotta give a little. As everyone has stated.
3) They think he is going to be able to play. I am asking the likely hood. Everyone thought Tracy’s bad knees could be over looked too.
4) What?
5) Hell we could have gave them Landry then. We have a lot of attractive talent for a team trying to build. I think trading for a dominant player is a good idea. I just don’t think Martin is dominant.
6) I totally agree, so maybe you misread what I was saying. I was stating there are 5 big players up. TX chance of landing one is good. Again Bosh is one option. And the teams you named where not on my list of people we could out do.

Look folks if you are sensitive don’t take offense. I truly want to here your opinions. If you disagree I want to know why. So pointing out an error that you clearly know was an error is pointless. Because the point still stands I just spelled it wrong.

Anyway this is kind of fun its another site on Rockets.com. Why is no one over there? I am a Rockets fan and I think you should all get on board over there too

As far as I can tell, You want to play the 2010 free agent game.

Even though there’s tons of teams out there with cap space in this free agency. Even though superstars in their prime virtually never leave their teams through free agency. Even though we wouldn’t have as much as cap space as those other teams.

slams head on desk

You are an idiot, as is every moron out there who wants to jump in the 2010 sweepstakes. Those teams selling off pieces for cap space will virtually all screw themselves over, I will gurantee you that.

As for Martin’s injury: it’s like calling Lowry injury-prone. The guys play tough, and they take a lot of blows and get injured as a result. It’s not like, say, McGrady, whom has actual body issues all over the place.

Bottom Line!

You win dude!
That last comment of trying to compare Lowry to Martin was the most retarded thing I have heard in my LIFE! And we had a special ed department in my school for people like you.

Lowry is nothing like Martin he had one other big injury in his career other than this ankle sprain, which is hardly big. And he makes a quarter of the money.

Bottom line is this Martin will not win a championship next year. We could have attempted to land someone who could, or signed a good/cheap free agent. Then we could have made more leeway with this cap situation, and tried for a championship in FA/drafts for 2011. Martin is not the answer and I am finally done because you are the dumbest man in the world. I will return when Martin crumbles. Though I truly hope he defies all odds.

They are talking its possible

610 is saying its possible even now that we have less cap space. It would just have to be a sign and trade which is what it might have been anyway.

I will catch you all later. Atleast the people who put up a good argument without third grade insults. If the insults were better I would countinue the war. TAKE CARE!
