Attention: Advise for Coach RA: Starters line up

Hey Dreamshakers  can you make your own starters line up so that we can give Coach RA some ideas that he can probably considers.. (hope he visits our blog site ;)

My new starters line up : Martin, Lowry, Scola , Jeffries, and Budinger..

The way i saw them played against new orleans.. i feel this list of starters can be so effective and perhaps give us more Ws in the  2nd half of the season..

How about you guys?

Your lineup leaves only one scorer in the second unit. I would rather see a taller starting center for rebounding and blocking. How about Brookes, Martin, Ariza, Scola and Armstrong for the starters. Then Lowry, Buddinger, Battier, Jeffries, and Hayes for the second unit.

Sorry, not Hayes, but Andersen as backup center.

Why does everyone think Lowry should start ahead of Brooks?

Yes, Lowry is a better overall passer than Aaron is, but Kyle does not shoot the ball as well as AB does. What also helps Brooks out is that you have a guy like Shane Battier who is pretty darn smart out there and can help guys out getting into position.

The best starting 5 right now would read as follows: Brooks, Martin, Ariza, Scola, Hayes
The second unit would be this group: Lowry, Budinger, Battier, Andersen, Jeffries

And you could probably move Hayes to the bench for Jeffries on this team. I think Jeffries will surprise a lot of people with his play for the Rockets this year. Don’t expect 10-12ppg, but a modest 6-7ppg with some solid D and rebounding. Morey may have found another useful piece.

Lowry's defense is what makes him better than Brooks

My starting line up would be PG-Lowry SG-Martin SF-Battier PF-Scola C-Jeffries
My Second unit- PG-Brooks SG- Buddinger SF-Ariza PF-Hill C-Anderson
You could have hayes come in when you need an extra defender down low.

i guarantee u

that more teams want ABZ than Lowry

And more teams want Rudy Gay than Shane Battier. That doesn’t mean he’s the better player. Teams with dumb GMs heavily overvalue scoring.

Like he said, I believe that too

However, Lowry is just as good as AB. Brooks is a better scorer but Lowry is a better rebounder, passer, and defender. Give me Lowry anyday. He is no slouch at scoring either.

abz, martin, battier, scola, hayes

lowry, bud, ariza, hill, anderson

i think the center spot depends on our opponent…hayes should get the bigger guys…

ABZ cant guard back up PG's

(see TJ Ford and Collison last night ) so if ABZ starts then you must have Lowry in the final mins of the 4th qtr… period!! or switch them on off and def in the last few mins of a game…. so we dont have back up PGs much less All Star PGs scoring lights out on us becuase ABZ cant guard them or their back ups…

Forget all this focus on Brooks

I want to see Jordan Hill play some! However, I’m drinking the Jared Jeffries kool-aid right now, and I like what he’s done.

Lowry is a nice change-of-pace guy though, and while we love how he pushes the rock, he’s not a great shooter from the perimeter. I see Lowry like a Bobby Jackson type PG in my eyes, though Aaron Brooks is no Mike Bibby yet.

Granted, the Jeffries thing is after 1 game. When I mentioned Brooks is not Bibby, I mean that Brooks is not a $$$ player in the 4th quarter yet.

Yeah, I’m keeping Hayes in for at least another 8 – 10 games until we know if Jeffries is consistent or not. I don’t know much about Armstrong either.

Brooks, Martin, Ariza, Scola, Hayes.

I’d prefer Battier starting if Ariza doesn’t stop shooting the ball so much. Only because we will have 3 scorers in the starting line up.

I prefer Brooks-Martin-Shane-Scola-Hayes/Jeffries depending on the cover

Shane would be a good defensive complement since we say AB and Kevin are defensively weak. Ariza in the 2nd unit could benefit from Lowry’s passing. 2nd unit would be Lowry-Budinger-Ariza-Andersen-Hayes/Hill.

But when Lowry comes back, it would be great to try Lowry and Martin together maybe sometime in the 3rd quarter—see their dynamic.

Really I wish players would not get so hung up on getting starter minutes. Especially our team, eventually we want to be able to mix it up as we look for the best combination.

I agree

I think having Martin and Lowry as the starters gives us some what of a offense-defense punch in our back court. I think Brooks and Bud give us sorta the same thing with our back up unit.

abz is a shooting guard stuck in a point gaurds body

even though lowry is a better distributor, abz is the starter and I dont think he would accept the back up roll very well (especially behind lowry) hes puts points on the board consistently which is what we need. don’t mess with the chemistry in the locker room and let lowry be that surge off the bench that he always is.
