Feigen: Trevor Ariza out until March; Kevin Martin to Start
That Martin will be starting Wednesday should be no surprise, but Ariza's injury is going to hurt the Rockets' a lot. The Rockets' defense is already struggling with Martin's addition, and the loss of two of the three best Rockets' perimeter players (Lowry's still out, btw) doesn't bode well for any improvement there.

They should have done this immediately after the trade went down. Allowing Ariza to play through his hip strain probably aggravated it further, which doesn’t make sense when you have somebody ready to go to replace him (Martin)… a better player, no less.
Question is, what happens when Ariza comes back? Does Battier take a seat on the bench so Martin can continue to start?
It'll probably depend
If the starting line up of Brooks/Martin/Battier/Scola/Hayes plays well together while Ariza is out, then RA probably won’t mess with the chemistry by plugging in Trevor.
On the other hand, if Ariza doesn’t take getting benched well, then Battier, being the class act that he is, might defer and Ariza will start. So I guess well have to see.

interesting
Tweek is out with a hip flexor strain?
Well, I like Ariza for everything except his 3 point shooting. Maybe taking a few games off should allow him to re-evaluate his role on the team from a different perspective?
Now we are a true running team…well except for battier..put budinger in!
Brooks martin budinger scola and jeffries..
True running lineup:
Brooks Martin Bud/Ariza Jeffries Hayes/Andersen
Bring Scola and Battier in when you want to work the inside/out game.
Yea Ithink a true running lineup would look like this
PG Brooks
SG Martin
SF Bud
PF Jeffries
C Anderson
It wouldn’t be our most talented lineup but man they would be able to run.
Or
when Lowry is back, plug him into the 1 and then that would be a heck of a running group!

All of the above are forgetting something
Defense. Battier needs to start.

agreed.
plus it is better to bring more offense than defense off the bench.

WOO HOO
Not happy he’s hurt, just happy he can’t start. Now Martin can show us what he’s got
hopefully with this line up we start to play very well.
so ariza can come off the bench (where he belongs).

i am actually happy to see this news.
no more travels, bad shots, etc. until march. we are going to miss him defensively but our turnovers should decrease, and there won’t be as many bad shots taken. it is going to be interesting how he plays against orlando. good news: he won’t be guarding vince carter, probably pietrus or barnes which are not great offensive players.

for those of you who have not been on ESPN lately.
vanilla wafer is going to sign with dallas. it is actually pretty funny because it shows how desperate mark cuban is. (and they are getting worse and worse defensively).

The most important thing now is to get Kevin comfortable and finding his shooting stroke, never mind the game results
RA is a player’s coach, very sensitive about the feelings of his players. He was easing Kevin into the line-up and easing breaking the news that Shane or Ariza has to go to the bench unit. This sort of takes care of it naturally.
I compare it to what Sacramento coach should have done when Kevin came back from an injury and he did not make any transition for Evans and Kevin to play together. Kevin felt disrespected, after being the star player for 3-4 years. Of course, something good came out of it because he’s now with us. But I agree with RA this time for preparing players for transition and massaging egos.
