i really like iggy alot but i think 3-point shooting is our biggest weakness offensively and we need a shot bocker in the worst way
then how about..
Iggy/Dalembert/Kapono for T-Mac/Battier or Scola but not both/Dorsey/Cook/Taylor. The salaries are close enough i believe. The Rox get a 3-pt shooter in Kapono, an all around and very good perimeter defender like Iggy, and a shot blocker. The Sixers get a proven player in Battier or Scola, expiring contracts, and 2 young prospects.

For sure, Amare wouldn't want to go to a non-contender at this point in his career.
What’s Phoenix doing? Getting more scorers?
from my understanding of it
they basically just want to make sure they can compete in the coming years. But to do that, they have to either sign Amare to a reasonable long-term contract (which is hurt significantly by Amare’s desire for a max contract, as well as his suspicion of the Suns’ ability to contend in the future) or get something significant in return for him.
It’s a complex little chess game they’re playing with Stoudemire.
Is Stoudemire a Max Contract player?
When healthy, maybe so.
But is he a max contract to anyone but Phoenix? NY perhaps?
And then there are the health concerns.
And what does PHX look like post-Nash? How many more years like this does he have left?
As you say, its an interesting situation.
Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.
When healthy, maybe so.
The big problem is that everyone expects:
- Most teams just won’t have as much money over the next few years, so players who were one “max contract” maybe won’t be this summer, simply because of declining wages overall
- The next CBA will probably decrease max salaries or years on contracts, and so signing someone like Amare to a massive deal might look really stupid two years from now.
