Aaron Brooks = All Star

Im going to go ahead and say it since no one else has really put it out there, but Brandon Roy is not going to play in the all star game. David Stern should be adding a replacement guard soon and he has few other options. I believe that Aaron Brooks is the best of the bunch that have not made it. As someone has mentioned before, the Rockets have no representation on All Star weekend. They are the only team with a winning record that is lacking representation. I believe that Aaron Brooks making the all star team also doubles as one of the most unlikeliest things that anyone wouldve predicted just a few years ago. We are talking about a late first rounder whom nobody was really looking to draft. Just a year or two after the rules changes, DM was able to recognize how his speed and shooting would be a big help to the Rockets offense. His numbers have grown dramatically since being placed as a starter and his growth is what allows the Rockets to stay competitive in the West. Lets hope David Stern gets it right with his replacement and ~~Chris Rock~~ Aaron Brooks gets an invite to the Dallas party.

Especially the way he's playing of late

I think Brooks has been FANTASTIC!!! Between Brooks and Landry Houston has the two very sound role players to put next to Yao next year. Give this team a slashing SG, move Ariza to SF and place Battier with the 2nd unit, and you have a legit championship contender (with Lowry, Scola, Budinger, and some combinaton of Dorsey/Andersen).

Battier with the 2nd unit isn't a good idea

Battier is mainly defense. You need defense to stop the scoring of the first unit, not other teams seconds. Only exception would be that Battier comes off the bench the same time Manu does when we play the Spurs.

The Rockets seem to keep the game close while the first units are in, then take the lead when the 2nd units are in.

Yeah, put Ariza with the 2nd unit instead. That way it’d be a 5 of Brooks/SG/Battier/Scola or Landry/Yao with the 2nd unit paced by Lowry/Budinger/Ariza/Scola or Landry/Andersen or Dorsey

If we’re getting offense from Yao and another player, I think Lowry should be the starting PG. More assists, fewer turnovers, more rebounds, better defense.

Who cares about all-star game?

Kaman is having a good year so let him play in the all-star game and get injured. What is the benefit in it? Why all the fuss about making Brooks an all-star? What him to become more expensive? That is the only thing that will happen. It wont help the Rockets. Maybe Brooks will make it if Kobe pulls out. Will that make you happy? It wont help the team at all.
