Garrett Temple will be called-up to the Houston Rockets tomorrow. This doesn't surprise me one iota.

While Temple is averaging a rather pedestrian 14.9 points, 3.7 boards and 3.4 assists while shooting 43% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc, he knows the system and fills a void with both Trevor Ariza and Kyle Lowry expected to not be available until after the all-star break.

Temple started his career with the Rockets as a Vegas Summer League invite, where he averaged 4.6 points per game over the course of five games. He apparently impressed Rockets GM Daryl Morey enough to get an invite to play for the Rockets this Fall, however. In the preseason, Temple appeared in four games with the Rockets, though didn't make much of an impact averaging 2.5 points over four appearances, though he was released in the first round of cuts.

Still doing his thing in the D-League

Said to have some pretty lucrative offers overseas – wouldn’t be surprised to see him head over if he doesn’t get any NBA looks soon.

Temple

Temple was said to be pretty raw offensively but a very good defender. That he’s shooting-and scoring-as well as he has is a pleasant suprise. He’s played some PG and in Houston he’d prob be a defensive gd who can be the emergency PG.
For now he’ll be Brook’s back-up,but if he makes the team next season it’ll be as a defender.

As to Harris, from the boxscores I’ve seen,he is scoring at a really good clip. Problem is Rockets need a PG not a scoring SF.

This wasn't for a PG

Antonio Anderson would have been a better option if they were looking for a point guard.

Jermaine Taylor

Kind of reminds me of Kyle Lowry without a game plan. We all know he can score, but maybe it’s other areas he’s having trouble with. For example, at Memphis I know he was only in for a short while and wanted to get some stats but almost everytime he touched the ball he dribbled around until he could get to the basket which isn’t necessarily bad, but I’m not sure he’s that good of a facilitator. I’m looking forward to see what Chase and Dorsey do with their minutes. Also, I can’t decide if I want to believe Brian Cook was genetically enhanced that game or possesed by a ghost like in the movie 6th Man, I’m counting out the idea of him not being lazy and getting inside the 3 point line possesing actual skill.

Well

In Memphis Taylor came in for garbage minutes. The general rule for that is chuck up as many shots as you can. Taylor went back to what he knew from college- take on the whole D and score anyway. That doesn’t bother me, as not too many guys can manage that.

As for Cook, my new theory is: he’s one of those very tall guys who at some basic level just hates basketball. Hates that everyone expected him to play it, to be good at it, to make a lot of money at it. Doesn’t enjoy it very much. When he was younger, and was more susceptible to pressure he really tried and ended up a 1st round pick of LAL. Now he’s happy to save his money and play out his deal and get on with whatever it is that does interest him with a nice bank account to his name.

That could be completely wrong – I know very little about him, did no research, just spouted this off. I’m sticking to it for now.

Significant gravitas shortfall expected in 2010.

I think

the far more likely explanation is that he’s just bad at playing NBA basketball. Once, he was good enough to play decently on some Lakers teams that weren’t very good.

It’s entirely possible that he just doesn’t care, but even playing on the bench for an NBA team requires a lot of work. Besides, I see no reason to slander the guy.

You might be right

He looked pretty content when I saw him at the Galleria; well as content as you can look carrying a bunch of shopping bags of womens stores.

Don’t we need someone to attack the basket like JT (and ala Von Wafer) when our offense stalls and even Chase is having an off night.

Half the season is past already and we haven’t seen JT show his stuff or show he’s not ready yet.
